If you must have one go for the 372 model which is a bit faster with double the ram. Removing the hard drive and using in a caddy is probably the best option for these boxes.

When I first listed the offer it was for the 372. That quickly went out of stock so I changed it for the 370.

I fully agree the new model with extra RAM performs so much better, but the 370 is still perfectly functional as long as you're not too impatient.

Hmm... I don't have an outside aerial, I see a problem with this

TV Player is the app that will let you watch Freeview channels over the internet. It's on quite a few devices, including Apple TV, Roku Boxes/Sticks and Amazon Fire TV.

Roku is probably the best option though as they have support for a lot more services than the others.
Mrswitch3 h, 58 m ago

Maybe I should invest in an outside aerial!

Ye u get good cheap aerials in screwfix around £17 a couple of pound for a bit co-ax and as long as u have a drill put it up yourself or get a friend to do it NEVER use a company to do it as u just get ripped off

Hiya. I’m not certain myself but I’m going to pick up a sky+hd box. One from over the past 4-5 years have at least a 1gb hard drive in them. Someone local to me has two for £10 so I’m going to pick that up next week. It should just be a case of unscrew out of the skybox and plug into the cctv system. I ran through the cctv instructions and there is a format hard drive option in the software so will run that and should be good. For me, for £10 (plus I get 2 spare sky controllers its worth a punt. I’ll let you know how it goes, but is likely to be in a week or so!

@G0OSE I raised a complaint on PP and had some back and forthing on Twitter. Eventually got $5 of my $8 back from the seller. By that point I'd invested far too much time and effort into an $8 purchase. Got the impression I'd have had the same response from PP over the phone anyway. Glad to hear your experience is better, but it's put me off buying anything of significant value from China.

I'm going to go for the LG 49SJ800V I think Paul. £599. And it's for a games room/bedroom to replace my HD Panasonic. It is always well lit unless it's night and the lights are turned off on purpose to watch a film haha. I guess no matter what you choose in the mid range tier, there's going to be limitations. You get what you pay for and if you think the OLED's can be a few thousand, you have to accept the downgrade obviously. But replacing what is just a standard HD TV, I don't think I can go wrong with either the LG 800v or Samsung MU7000, especially as I'll be gaming primarily and I've heard the input lag is pretty low.

Only if the TV can brighten the backlight in a small enough area to put it …Only if the TV can brighten the backlight in a small enough area to put it on screen without causing excessive haloing. HDR is about increasing the brightness of highlights (glints off metal, light sources, fire etc.) to give more contrast rather than brightening the whole picture The MU7000 isn't brilliant at that aspect, that's what I meant about the local dimming system not being very capable. Rtings found it hit 417cd/m² on the light sources in it's test scene. It's probably the best thing for the money for sub-55", the main question is whether it's worth the extra over slightly cheaper TVs without local dimming. Although it's getting pretty close in price now so it's certainly a lot more convincing candidate than it was a month or two ago.

Just been having a read of another website.

"You shouldn’t expect the kind of eye-popping HDR spectacle produced on TVs at twice the price, though. Peak brightness came in at 560cd/m² after we’d calibrated the TV, and while that’s less than half that of the best sets, it’s the kind of ballpark figure you should expect at this price point.

19ms in 4K HDR, which makes it an excellent choice for playing reflex-based games.

An extra £420 (over the Hisense 6800) isn't an inconsiderable bump in price, but be in no doubt: it guarantees dramatically better performance across the board, thanks to the Samsung’s 120Hz panel, great SDR image quality, decent HDR performance, and low input lag.

Whatever you decide, we can confidently state that the Samsung MU7000 is one of the best all-round TVs you’re going to find for £1,000."

Any good?

No It's a piece of junk. It has a poor APU, Low resolution and records as AVI. Decent dash cams will use a decent APU like the Novatek NT96650/55 or the Ambarella a7, will record in .MOV at true 1080p (30/60FPS) have a 6 layer lens - that has a 140/170d field of view - and have sensor with an aperture under 2.0.

As I've said many time before: If you are in a 'contested' accident worth 1000s of pounds don't you want the best footage to prove your innocence? Dash Cams like the one listed here is 'better than nothing' but blown up on a tv screen the footage will be blurry, laggy and the low field of view might mean you don't record the accident at all.

Personally If you can't afford £40/£50 for a decent Dash Cam I would rather use an old mobile phone (like a Samsung Galaxy S2) with a dash cam app and a cheap fisheye lens to convert the lens to wide angle.

Processor is an upgraded novatek 96220

Real resolution 720p, so if you buy this it would be better to use it set at 720p

1080p will be by interpolation.

Pay a few quid extra for a G1W which has the better novatek 96650 and a better image sensor, with better low light performance, real 1080p and records using h.264.

Looks like it was recorded onto VHS tape, yes it works but it looks like reading a number plate would be hard unless very close and if using for evidence you need clarity of number plates etc..... I couldn't see any number on that sheep for example!

Banggood.com do not comply with UK consumer laws. Plus delivery can be up to 28 days which they told me after I ordered - it says 1-2 days, then 6-8 days on its website. Order at your peril!
turning the camera round to film inside the car sounds useful

I had one tried it once that was enough it was awful so sold it. I doubt footage will be good enough in an accident as number plates can't be read.
