JAMESANN

got it today came in non retail box nvr4700 cameras came in retail box i didnt bother with the internet just pluged everything in worked easy

enallum

Got this system for £299 in last years Black Friday event. Only got around to fitting it last month so still playing around with it. A couple of things I will say is Swann customer service has to be one of the worst I have ever had to deal with and the app is also very poor. I will vote this hot because it is still cheaper than anywhere else.

Not even worth looking for when similarly compressed files on Youtube from cameras costing less than half of the price of this look far better!

Dusty

To be fair you'd be better of judging this by the raw files, no the compressed cocked up YouTube version.

If this is what you get, keep your money in your pocket!

Ordered mine on Tuesday @ £55.57, arrived today (Thursday) pretty good for free delivery (not Prime)! Came with Transcend 32GB High Endurance micro SD card (latest white version). I also ordered the MyArmour suction mount @ £6.99 but although it has a compatible mount it's going to need easing with a file to fit!!!

Lol, brain fart 9sq metres, 3m x 3m room with a 50" tv, a king sized bed, chest of drawers, bedside table, some racking and a coat rack.

PWolf

Wouldn't be a box room if it was 3m x 3m - that's too big for box room. 3m x 3m would be 9 metres squared anyway. Most box rooms are approx 1.9m x 2.2m or thereabouts (circa 4m2 floor space), so his must be a tiny box room with a big tv - possibly 1.5m x 2m, just long enough for a single bed with a 2'3" door and access down the bedside.

rhexenor

Thanks a bunch, OP, my son has just made me order him one!

paulpso

3 metres squared is 3x3.

Gollywood

Wonder if they still have those in store

omendata

For some reason absolutely NONE of these bargains are EVER available in any store in Scotland!

josephobrien2000

I paid 20 for one that looks just like this on Tesco petrol fore court. It's a falcon. The image quality is ok for capturing footage but the problem is that it records at the wrong speed! Playback looks as though it's recorded at x2 speed! Problem is it makes it look as though I'm driving twice as fast!! Also, battery charge just doesn't work well. Seems's to stop charging after 5 mins. Wanted a dashcam with no power wire. So it's going back to Tesco.

KingAwKings

Had one for around 4 years with out issue, play back on the pc is fine and reads plates fine, you need to make sure you setup the camera settings correct though as there is an Auto, night and day time settings.

hotdealsareus123

Thanks for the clarification, good review (embarrassed)

KiretoX

Yes, it does stick form the side, but it is not that bad. You can see some pictures from my review of a rebranded one - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/customer-reviews/R3L1LHE128AIZL/ref=cm_cr_getr_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00XJKN8DE Battery is not great in hot weather as it my swell and lead to risk of fire. But other than that it could make camera very hot which usually leads to out of focus in hot weather. I am not sure if this is due to the battery only or a combination of issues in hot weather. Probably it is not a problem in the UK.

19Danny81

Despite the chipset, the long-term reliability of these cams, and nearly all cams around this price, is poor at best

Bobef90

I have had two cheapo dashcam sand they have failed within no time. I bought a decent one and it’s been totally reliable. Don’t waste your dosh.

hotdealsareus123

Thanks.... Does the charging lead sticking out on the side bother you?. Why not great in hot weather?

When I first listed the offer it was for the 372. That quickly went out of stock so I changed it for the 370. I fully agree the new model with extra RAM performs so much better, but the 370 is still perfectly functional as long as you're not too impatient.

modelman

Not good boxes I've had a few when I was with TalkTalk. Slow and buggy. If you must have one go for the 372 model which is a bit faster with double the ram. Removing the hard drive and using in a caddy is probably the best option for these boxes.

spruceyb

TV Player is the app that will let you watch Freeview channels over the internet. It's on quite a few devices, including Apple TV, Roku Boxes/Sticks and Amazon Fire TV. Roku is probably the best option though as they have support for a lot more services than the others.

I've now sorted mine, I bought two DRX890W sky boxes in the end. The boxes are easy to get into, takes 5 minutes to take out the hard drive.

Clicky here I have just bought 3 boxes for thirty quid and think it's a steal for a HDD that is intended for constant recording.

carlsaunders1

Hiya. I’m not certain myself but I’m going to pick up a sky+hd box. One from over the past 4-5 years have at least a 1gb hard drive in them. Someone local to me has two for £10 so I’m going to pick that up next week. It should just be a case of unscrew out of the skybox and plug into the cctv system. I ran through the cctv instructions and there is a format hard drive option in the software so will run that and should be good. For me, for £10 (plus I get 2 spare sky controllers its worth a punt. I’ll let you know how it goes, but is likely to be in a week or so! (y)

I have one of these type of dashcams. Every now and then the camera goes crazy, typical software bugs not investigated, and because there is no screen, no way to tell until you start up the app. So I have to reset this thing about once per week.

Btw, if anyone wants a cheap but extremely good dashcam, search for the Yi on HukD which goes for about £30 delivered. I have one, can't fault it.

terriclarkfan

@G0OSE I raised a complaint on PP and had some back and forthing on Twitter. Eventually got $5 of my $8 back from the seller. By that point I'd invested far too much time and effort into an $8 purchase. Got the impression I'd have had the same response from PP over the phone anyway. Glad to hear your experience is better, but it's put me off buying anything of significant value from China.

I'm going to go for the LG 49SJ800V I think Paul. £599. And it's for a games room/bedroom to replace my HD Panasonic. It is always well lit unless it's night and the lights are turned off on purpose to watch a film haha. I guess no matter what you choose in the mid range tier, there's going to be limitations. You get what you pay for and if you think the OLED's can be a few thousand, you have to accept the downgrade obviously. But replacing what is just a standard HD TV, I don't think I can go wrong with either the LG 800v or Samsung MU7000, especially as I'll be gaming primarily and I've heard the input lag is pretty low.

Erinath

If you have the money & the space, the 55" of this works out much better value for money. It offers a true 10 bit panel (this one is 8bit + frc) and you get the sound bar: https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/samsung-ue55mu7000-4k-ultra-hd-smart-tv-55-799-john-lewis-with-free-samsung-hw-m360-sound-bar-with-subwoofer-2836567

g7paul1

The trouble is £800 does get you a good tv with limitations. £1100 led would buy a great led. Sony is good, however my android interface Is not good. The TVs randomly reboot etc... so I am put off from it. LG Nano cell Tv’s have deep blacks issue and needs to be in a bright lit room. At The end of the day look at where you tv is placed and whether the room is well lit ? The Samsung can show white at slight viewing angles, and slight judder which can be a issue. I went for it as our seating arrangements are straight in front of tv. However I am open to a great deal, hence My mu7000 purchased yesterday (richer sounds £799) is still sealed. I hope this helped.

andy90_wfc

So what I'm confused about is... do I upgrade my HD TV just for the 4K, forget all about HDR until the upgrade after this one and save myself £200+. Or do I pay extra for this MU7000 which offers fairly basic HDR, but an entry level experience none the less. And I have to say it was easily one of the best looking screens I seen at Curry's in this price range (that was the 7070 but I've heard it's exactly the same picture quality). Really not sure

andy90_wfc

Just been having a read of another website. "You shouldn’t expect the kind of eye-popping HDR spectacle produced on TVs at twice the price, though. Peak brightness came in at 560cd/m² after we’d calibrated the TV, and while that’s less than half that of the best sets, it’s the kind of ballpark figure you should expect at this price point. 19ms in 4K HDR, which makes it an excellent choice for playing reflex-based games. An extra £420 (over the Hisense 6800) isn't an inconsiderable bump in price, but be in no doubt: it guarantees dramatically better performance across the board, thanks to the Samsung’s 120Hz panel, great SDR image quality, decent HDR performance, and low input lag.  Whatever you decide, we can confidently state that the Samsung MU7000 is one of the best all-round TVs you’re going to find for £1,000."

I've got Hikvision cameras, they're reasonably good, although I'd hesitate to call them crystal clear, especially at night. These are the ones I have: https://www.icatchercctv.com/product/hikvision-ds-2cd2522fwd-i/ That might be due to the software I'm using, I currently use the iCatcher software whjich isn't brilliant for playback. What are you using to record activity?

siehartshorn

I have the below system, Hikvision are more aligned with Professional systems, they may be slightly more than the system you quoted but they are certainly better than most domestic systems, Hikvision invest hugely in the Codecs used which results in crystal clear streaming to remote devices CCTV HIKVISION 1080P 2.4MP HD NIGHT VISION OUTDOOR DVR HOME SECURITY SYSTEM KIT https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F222705327328 If you want to see the quality of the stills taken from it just ask
