4 x AA Energizer Recycled Batteries - £2.50 instore in Sainsburys (Leamington)

Thought this was a good price as I normally pay £5+. Found in Sainsburys Leamington, not sure if its national. Seemed to be lots of stock and 8 x packs also available.

If you care enough about the environment and think this will help you would no doubt be better of buying a pack of rechargeable batteries which you can recycle/recharge upwards if 1000 times
Just checked online, and it states these are made with 4% recycled material from old batteries..... not exactly a very high percentage, but better than nothing I suppose.
Still, I'm not going to buy these and suddenly feel I'm saving the planet or something, not at that low a percentage.

That's if these are actually the recycled range, as there seems to be some doubt........... ?

Yes, your right. They have used the same colour scheme as their recycled range... My bad.

I'll update the title now to save confusion.

Fantastic USB rechargeable front cycle light - 68% off £7.49 @ Tredz

I just took delivery of one of these. Really good as a "be seen" front light. Not much cop for lighting up the road though. Free postage too!
lumsdot4 h, 47 m ago

so its a front light that does not light up the road in front, sound …so its a front light that does not light up the road in front, sound dangerous and not fit for purposelook on ebay or amazon for cree bike lightssomething like this one from China, i dont have this exact model and am not recommending it, just giving a link, note: some china bike lights have dodgy rechargable batteries which can catch fire under charginghttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CREE-XM-L-T6-LED-Front-Bicycle-Bike-Rechargeable-Head-Light-Torch-Headlight-Lamp/251437897077?epid=1937292435&hash=item3a8addd575:g:W2QAAOSwRrlZ~J3k

There are 2 types of front lights; those intended to light up the road (for cycling on unlit roads, paths and offroad) and those intended to make you visible to other road users.
This light is the latter type and therefore fit for the purpose for which it is intended.

Using an unnecessarily bright light when cycling in traffic isn't safer - it just dazzles other road users.

I always have 2 lights on the front of my bike - a simple, cheap, 'be seen' light similar to this and a second, more powerful light for lighting the way on unlit paths, etc. (it can be turned down or off when cycling on lit roads).
I also have 2 on the back - just in case the battery dies in one and I don't notice.
Edited by: "ArthurDent1" 18th Feb
I've had this light for over three years and used it on four or five different bikes. It is the best "to be seen" light I've owned for the money. I used to leave the rubber mount on the handlebars and use the metal clip on the back to quickly attach and release it. It takes a few tries to get used to this method but once you are it is extremely quick. The light feels very well made - solid construction - and the battery lasts a decent amount of time for a compact light. In the years I've had it I've dropped it onto concrete/tarmac a few times and it emerged unscathed. The clip attachment can be used on your clothing/bag/etc so it can be used without the rubber mount. It's easy to operate even while wearing gloves. An excellent light at the full price but this deal, plus the code above, makes it extremely good value for money.
I run a couple of similar to these usb powered lights wityh a seperate dual usb outlet powerbank held in a top tube frame bag,,pretty much turns pitch black into datylight on the unlit roads on my commute home

Good performance as far as USB lights go. I’ve got the pair of these. The mounting mechanism for the front light is appalling, try mounting it as shown on the handlebars and every bump shakes it loose so it just ends up flapping about. It drives me nuts. Good ‘be seen’ light if you can get it to stay in place.

I'm not sure I want to specify a set of batteries in my will. Sure if you are draining and recharging daily then 1000 cycles becomes 2.7 years vs nearly 6 years from the Eneloops.

Great point about the amount of years, I do however wonder if these claims of 500 or 1000+ charges are true or not since it feels
almost like a printer toner which claim 5000 print outs when you get 500 instead.

For peace of mind I don't think you can beat the Eneloops and would rather pay the few quid more for these especially at 55% off saving.
Is it ok to use a fast charger with these?

I use a lot of AA enloops in my photographic gear flashguns motordrives etc
I switched to Enloops a few years ago and also bought the ANSMANN Energy 16 Charger for AA, AAA, C, D & 9V Rechargeable Batteries
After years as a pro photographer this move gave me reliability and long working times with my portable equipment.
There are other chargers that do the job well but I needed ones which would chatge in bulk and the Ansmann did and still does the job well

You're not supposed to (so I'm told) leave these charging in a shaver socket 24/7 as shaver sockets are only designed to provide several minutes of use at a time hence why the sockets start to get hot when running for much longer than this.

My toothbrush slows down after a couple of uses but takes up to 2 days to re-charge which seems ridiculous.
