The IP address can be found on your router's config webpage (eg 192.168.1.1) so you may not need to install the printer via usb first.
Very pleased with the printer - thanks OP

Did struggle with the wifi a bit. If you have installed with the USB, which you do to initially get the IP address and get driver installed, you then have to un-install and then re-install using the IP address

Instructions below are from a question on Amazon reviews and worked for me.......good luck!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Install the Driver and Smart Organising Monitor (SOM) from the CD ( Use Quick USB Install option), as Kermorvan says.
(Follow the on screen instructions - Don't plug the USB in until told).
When done, and keeping the printer On and the USB cable connected, open the SOM (- easy way is to open a page in Wordpad etc, select Print, Preferences, and click SOM button which you should now find there under the Ricoh tab.)
In SOM, click User Tools, Printer Configuration, and enter the access code in the box (Admin) - its case sensitive.
Select the Wireless tab, and enter your Router info on the right hand side (SSID name, Authentication Mode (WPA on mine), Encryption Type (TKIP on mine), and WPA Passphrase, then OK. The printer should then be connected to your Router. ( I did it this way beacuse clicking the WPS button as Kermorvan suggests to connect automatically didn't work for me...)
Click the Configuration Page tab to print out and note the TCP/Ip address of the printer ( should be 192.168.1.something, or similar).
Disconnect the USB cable, and close the SOM.
Then follow the last two paragraphs of Kernovan's notes again to get the computer to recognise the printer - ie uninstall the USB install of the printer in Settings, and then re-install it there (Add New Printer). You will need the IP address to do this ( the Port number should be filled automatically when you enter the IP address, and is the same set of numbers.). You may need to re-select the Driver - I did - click the manufacturer name and select the model - it should ask whether to use the installed driver ( you installed it at the beginning) - so say Yes.
It should then offer to print a test page, and finish, and then work !
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a completely different matter - it looks like the page to register your warranty (within 14 days) is here
ricoh.co.uk/sup…tml
Unfortunately it no longer lists this printer - at least not that I can see.....
Edited by: "gari189" 6th Jan
Took me 10 minutes to unbox and connect via wi-fi. Reserved the IP on the router before creating a new TCP/IP port on my laptop with the reserved address, then installed the latest driver that I got from Ricoh website. Well pleased with it.

Some comments round here advising digital cropping as a solution to the limitations of this camera.
IMHO this should be a last resort, not a go to solution.

There's options for 28, 35 and 50mm equivalents. As I said if you're coming from a phone camera and want something better quality for everyday snaps this is perfect and if you want you can crop and upload to Facebook or wherever with no issues. Or alternatively go full on Cartier-Bresson and zoom with your feet and wait half an hour for the perfect moment.

Lens is 28mm equivalent so if you're used to using a phone camera and want a camera with far superior dslr like quality this is a fantastic camera. Wide aperture too so you get some nice out of focus backgrounds and can do low light well so indoors with no flash isn't an issue. If I didn't have the first version I would snap this up in an instant. You won't find the fixed lens as restrictive as you think you will I promise - besides it has digital zoom function so you can easily crop in if required while retaining a lot of the quality.

Thought it was a defect as printer refused to print but support said I needed a replacement toner cartridge. Shocked when I saw toner replacements costing ~£20 on ebay so have stuck with alternative printer for half the cost. It makes for a perfect foot rest though

Toner lasted me ages so maybe you got a dodgy one? I refilled with the Ebay DIY kit (which was easy to replace) for roughly £15 and it has lasted well over a year now, easily over 1,000 pages. I own the SP 201n but I think the toners are the same.

This is a great printer, bargain.

Had one of these and it developed a fault before the first toner ran out and it ended up at the local dump.
I have on of these, had it over a year, I'm not a heavy user but my ink cartridge is still going strong, I can only suggest that woldraider was treated very badly. I haven't had any problems with it whatsoever.

If anyone is still following this thread... anyone able to advise about the toner? I got the flashing light last week to say it's low, and so had a look on ebay where I found someone selling a genuine toner with 50-60% remaining (apparently his printer was faulty, so he got rid of it and was selling remaining toner), which I thought might be easier being genuine than some of the compatibles, so it arrived today and I can't get it to work, just get a solid red light. When I put my old one back in it still flashes for low and prints fine, but it does nothing except the solid light on the right hand side.
Wondered if anyone that knows more about this sort of thing than me could shed any inspiration?!
Really happy with the printer apart from that though!
Got the printer today after ordering it on the weekend, nice little printer.

Was a little annoying to set up with my MAC however what I did was, use a windows machine to configure the printer manually for wi-fi.

Once I had the printer configured for wi-fi on windows, I then installed the GutenPrint Generic PCL 6/PCL XLdrivers onto my MAC
I then added the Printer on my MAC using the IP address and LPD Protocol and the driver above
That was it, I hope that helps someone

Always a better idea to use the latest drivers from the official websites.

I would say, uninstall and reinstall with the online drivers.

As for the smell, no idea. The two we purchased are working fine with no noticable smells or other issues. Are you sure you removed all/any of the plastic tabs/stickers as per the instructions?

I know the box is huge but I was expecting a lot of that to be just packaging, only it isn't, the printer is absolutely huge as well. It does appear to work in that I got it to print a test page out ok. However, when first turned on and during and for a while after printing it is really noisy and after I printed just one page out it made the whole room very smelly, not sure what the smell is, not a burning smell, but definitely unpleasant, presumably the toner? Is it normal for a printer like this to give off such a strong distinctive odour like this? My room is only small so perhaps the confined space is making it worse?I have used other laser printers and they do have maybe a little smell to them after printing but absolutely nothing like this!Beginning to think I have made a (literally) enormous mistake here......

I couldn't find an active colour laser printer offer so decided to venture for one myself. I stumbled on this offer as it seems pretty legit as other sites are still selling for £1… Read more

Can you not dual boot to xp? Most laser printers are noisy. I bought the hp laserjet offer and man is that noisy. I dare not use it if the wife is sleeping as I set it up in my bedroom for now to keep away from the kids.

Its a HP Deskjet 9800. already bought XL replacement cartridges for £10. just need the software and HP don't have it
I was thinking about a laser but the cost of toner put me off, so went for an Epson BX935FWD, Full Duplex, scanner, Wifi etc. Best part is you can use aftermarket cartridges, I paid about £12 for 16 (4 of each colour) and they seem to last quite a while. Stocked up so I've got enough for the life of the printer.
It seems that the one thing this printer has (in this price range) that's missing from others is Full/Auto Duplex.

Otherwise, replacement toner refills+chips (not cartridges) are £61/set on ebay.
Colour reproduction is "just below par" for a laser-LED, according to PCmag.
Getting it to work with Linux/Android appear to be a pain in the .... or impossible.

But then it has Auto Duplex!

Then there is the SPC240SF on ebay for £175, which seems to be the multifunction version of this printer.

And I still can't decide
