The IP address can be found on your router's config webpage (eg http://192.168.1.1) so you may not need to install the printer via usb first.

gari189

Very pleased with the printer - thanks OP Did struggle with the wifi a bit. If you have installed with the USB, which you do to initially get the IP address and get driver installed, you then have to un-install and then re-install using the IP address Instructions below are from a question on Amazon reviews and worked for me.......good luck! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Install the Driver and Smart Organising Monitor (SOM) from the CD ( Use Quick USB Install option), as Kermorvan says. (Follow the on screen instructions - Don't plug the USB in until told). When done, and keeping the printer On and the USB cable connected, open the SOM (- easy way is to open a page in Wordpad etc, select Print, Preferences, and click SOM button which you should now find there under the Ricoh tab.) In SOM, click User Tools, Printer Configuration, and enter the access code in the box (Admin) - its case sensitive. Select the Wireless tab, and enter your Router info on the right hand side (SSID name, Authentication Mode (WPA on mine), Encryption Type (TKIP on mine), and WPA Passphrase, then OK. The printer should then be connected to your Router. ( I did it this way beacuse clicking the WPS button as Kermorvan suggests to connect automatically didn't work for me...) Click the Configuration Page tab to print out and note the TCP/Ip address of the printer ( should be 192.168.1.something, or similar). Disconnect the USB cable, and close the SOM. Then follow the last two paragraphs of Kernovan's notes again to get the computer to recognise the printer - ie uninstall the USB install of the printer in Settings, and then re-install it there (Add New Printer). You will need the IP address to do this ( the Port number should be filled automatically when you enter the IP address, and is the same set of numbers.). You may need to re-select the Driver - I did - click the manufacturer name and select the model - it should ask whether to use the installed driver ( you installed it at the beginning) - so say Yes. It should then offer to print a test page, and finish, and then work ! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On a completely different matter - it looks like the page to register your warranty (within 14 days) is here https://www.ricoh.co.uk/support/register-warranty/index.html Unfortunately it no longer lists this printer - at least not that I can see.....

iand123

Took me 10 minutes to unbox and connect via wi-fi. Reserved the IP on the router before creating a new TCP/IP port on my laptop with the reserved address, then installed the latest driver that I got from Ricoh website. Well pleased with it.

Some comments round here advising digital cropping as a solution to the limitations of this camera. IMHO this should be a last resort, not a go to solution.

Jonathan_Woodley

There's options for 28, 35 and 50mm equivalents. As I said if you're coming from a phone camera and want something better quality for everyday snaps this is perfect and if you want you can crop and upload to Facebook or wherever with no issues. Or alternatively go full on Cartier-Bresson and zoom with your feet and wait half an hour for the perfect moment.

afroylnt

Cropping the image would provide a comparable quality to a zoom lens assuming the fixed lens in this camera is very good, unless you pay allot for a high Quality zoom lens Clearly this isn't the camera to get 200mm shots with but cropping x2 or even x3 should still provide a very good quality image.

eatmorefish

Ooo....did you say digital zoom? Just don't. The only zooming you'll be doing with this camera is with your feet. Unless you already know a fair bit about photography I would advise staying well clear of this camera.

Good brand and build quality but no image stabilization and a not so good Review here.

filcee

I haven't used the 4K function (nothing to play it back on) but the 1080 @ 60fps is brilliant, much better than the GoPro equivalent. I liked the wide angle as it was catching stuff when I was diving that I hadn't noticed...

Derlish

It's the same camera as olympus-tg-tracker-action-cam. I had it and had to send it back as the 4k was a joke. Also the wide angle was a bit extreme even for an action cam.

That is my one gripe, I have this printer wired via ethernet and every time I unplug the machine I have to re-install the drivers. It was also tricky to set up via ethernet.

GlentoranMark

Toner lasted me ages so maybe you got a dodgy one? I refilled with the Ebay DIY kit (which was easy to replace) for roughly £15 and it has lasted well over a year now, easily over 1,000 pages. I own the SP 201n but I think the toners are the same. This is a great printer, bargain.

stuellis

Had one of these and it developed a fault before the first toner ran out and it ended up at the local dump.

Gordinho

I have on of these, had it over a year, I'm not a heavy user but my ink cartridge is still going strong, I can only suggest that woldraider was treated very badly. I haven't had any problems with it whatsoever.

rlearmouth

Had a similar Ricoh 2 years ago. Couldn't get it to work on my network via an adaptor. Toners are expensive. I bought a second hand colour Laserjet CP1515n for £60 with nearly new toners that last forever on override and have never looked back.

If anyone is still following this thread... anyone able to advise about the toner? I got the flashing light last week to say it's low, and so had a look on ebay where I found someone selling a genuine toner with 50-60% remaining (apparently his printer was faulty, so he got rid of it and was selling remaining toner), which I thought might be easier being genuine than some of the compatibles, so it arrived today and I can't get it to work, just get a solid red light. When I put my old one back in it still flashes for low and prints fine, but it does nothing except the solid light on the right hand side. Wondered if anyone that knows more about this sort of thing than me could shed any inspiration?! Really happy with the printer apart from that though!

Kanye.Pest

Got the printer today after ordering it on the weekend, nice little printer. Was a little annoying to set up with my MAC however what I did was, use a windows machine to configure the printer manually for wi-fi. Once I had the printer configured for wi-fi on windows, I then installed the GutenPrint Generic PCL 6/PCL XLdrivers onto my MAC I then added the Printer on my MAC using the IP address and LPD Protocol and the driver above That was it, I hope that helps someone

Hootwo

I've had one without WiFi and am still on the original toners after several years. Yes, toners on this are expensive, however I do less and less printing, but when I print colour I want it looking good and this printer does deliver quality. It is big and heavy and takes a while to get going though, so plan accordingly. Voted Hot if you want a low volume high quality printer at low initial cost.

New drivers from the Ricoh website should sort that out. Link on first comments page.

topss

Always a better idea to use the latest drivers from the official websites. I would say, uninstall and reinstall with the online drivers. As for the smell, no idea. The two we purchased are working fine with no noticable smells or other issues. Are you sure you removed all/any of the plastic tabs/stickers as per the instructions?

ST3123

I've run it a few more times and the smell seems to have diminished a bit now. The other issue I am finding though is that several programs, typically image editing programs including the Windows 10 Photos app, Windows Photo Viewer and Paint all crash when I try to open the print dialogue, making it impossible to print from them. Printing from a web browser is fine as is from Word. I am only using a basic USB connection from PC to printer and just installed the drivers from the CD. Can only guess it's an issue with the drivers though I don't know why they would work on some programs but not others?

pibpob

Just give it a few goes and see if the smell diminishes.

True but that is same for 95% of the printers I believe, 95% of the rest are not compact and need bigger space. You have to be very lucky to get Compact sized, Faster, and with Cheaper replacement toner printer. This one not the best of the printers but very good deal in Compact category.

The printer may be a good price but the toner replacements cost as much if not more than the printer itself. Bought the Sp211 model from Tesco earlier this year for £19 then found the toner was £45-£50. Eventually managed to get a toner from Argos in their clearance for £25.
