I thought they meant the overall lifespan of the product, considering that AIOs themselves have a reputation for failing sooner than just a pair of fans.

Thank you!

I have a 2080ti with an AIO and I love it. Temperatures never go above 64c at 99% usage. It does have a larger radiator (it has 2x 140mm fans). I can definitely recommend this type of GPU. Some people have complained that AIO cooled components have chances of leaking, but I've had AIOs for the CPU and GPU for a few years now and I never had this problem. I imagine it's just bad RNG for some :) It does not limit its lifespan since it has great temperatures.

Would the fact this is liquid cooled with an AIO limit its lifespan compared to a typical air cooled card? Would appreciate some opinions as I've never used an AIO solution before.

Just noticed that it has already been posted. My apologies :)

That's supply and demand for you. Especially in what was an uncompetitive marketplace

Based on what. Most reviews but the 2080 super 10% slower than the 2080 ti at 4K yet is 2/3 of the price. Its about 20% more expensive than the 2070 super but 20% faster and the 2070 super cannot push 60 FPS at 4K. If you want 1440p you go for the 2070 super If you want 4K you go with the 2080 super If you like wasting money (which if you do, you shouldn't be on this site) you buy the 2080ti

Newer games have a setting to allow the card to manage its own quality over performance settings with the user only having to select whether they prefer quality or performance

Rumours from supposedly reliable sources suggest the upcoming cards are going to be substantially faster than this gen, with both AMD and Nvidia having products 30-40% faster than the 2080ti. Even if true, doesn’t mean you get much more bang for your buck as prices may be stupidly high. Either way, what I’d do expect (yes my opinion only) is for raytracing capability from both camps having a massive jump in performance leaving current RTX cards struggling to Keep up with raytracing turned on. Maybe the games will have RTX quality settings for the PC.

This card is a waste of time. For me it’s either the RTX 2070 Super or the 2080 TI. This card has very little benefit for the extra you pay over the 2070S

Very good price for a 2080.

The more I look at this deal and the prices, this is a good deal, much better performance than a 2070 super, more than 10 FPS on average, also MSI warranty makes no mention of buying brand new, as long as you have a receipt from a reputable seller. Price wise I've seen 2070 super cheapest at about 450, but those deals are every now and again, id happily pay extra and get more performance. I have the money so why not, understand others don't want to spend so much so will go via price / performance ratio.

Play with the cards and OC them. Pretty much every Ti gets 15% on an OC, good luck getting more than 6% out of an XT. Ergo, for tweakers, 1080Ti is 15-20% faster. Drivers for XT suck. I know this because I have built and tested almost a dozen XT systems in the past few months. Some games have terrible frametimes on the XT (Total War series, Half life Alyx) I'm yet to find a game that isn't buttery smooth on a 1080Ti. Have a look at the XT in VR, it's atrocious https://babeltechreviews.com/half-life-alyx-performance-iq-review-across-13-amd-nvidia-cards/ 'The RX 5700 XT also cannot handle Ultra settings even though it delivers 119.27 unconstrained FPS and drops or requires 26 frames to be synthesized as again microstutter is evident.' 'The GTX 1080 Ti is suitable for Ultra settings with 130.13 unconstrained FPS, and it drops or requires only 1 frame to be synthesized' Look at the frametime plots. This is what average fps doesn't tell you. As someone who's worked very closely with PCs for a decade, I can tell you the consistency of the XT is just plain bad. It's a very hyped card that is not one I'd reccomend, it is not comparable to a 1080Ti or 2070S in any shape or form. People who own it like to think that, fair enough, but it's wrong.

What we think we should get and what we actually get, coupled with the speculative console real world performance levels, is something that is much talked about, I hope for cheaper more powerful graphics cards, but time will tell. I would guess at £649 for anything that might come close or hopefully equal a 2080ti with extra ray tracing power. I'd say next year will see the real cut throat pricing, when AMD can match what Nvida have on offer when the mid range cards truly will surpass the 2080ti type performance, offering excellent 4k performance , hopefully with a large dose of realism from the new generation of consoles nipping at the heels at the price per performance, making graphics card look to be fairly bad value in comparison

It was the worst performance increase we've ever had in any GPU generation... 2080 matched the 1080ti at the same price and the 2080ti was 30% faster for 70% more money.. At best we had a 5-10% performance increase if that at all price ranges. The new consoles have 2080s level GPUs plus better optimization so we must get 2080ti performance for sub 500 with the 3070 otherwise what's the point in buying a GPU equal or worse than the consoles for the same price as the whole console box. Shouldn't be be too much to ask for that's only a 25% bump over the 2070s

I wouldn't call the 2000 range a disappointment, I thought my 2080ti was excellent..way better than any other regular gaming card on the market, I sold it recently for £900 (ahead of the crowd), I paid less than £600 for it around 10 months ago, but I do buy and sell used parts for a living...currently happily running a used rtx 2060 super, great card, put a decent OC on it and it can game at 4K with nice visuals, with a fair bit of tweaking of the settings...banked the £900 for the new 3000 range of cards..I am guessing a £649.95 card will offer something between a 2080 super and a 2080ti type of performance...something along the lines of a 2080 super super...that would do me nicely at that kind of price with a decent OC, I guess it would then have similar performance to an unclocked founders edition 2080ti.

Never miss a 'RTX 2080' deal again!

I’m pleased with my Alienware M15, r3, rtx 2070 super, 32gb, 1tb but I wish I could undervolt it in the settings just for surfing. I was able to get 4k/60hz with consistent frames but on FPS stuff I’m getting tearing since I altered some settings, same on 1440p but not sure which setting might be doing it any ideas? I was playing tomb raider and didn’t half feel motion sickness afterward 🤢

Hey @steve.jackiw nice work on your first post! I've added some more info - hope that helps :)

300 sounds about right, I'd hope the 3060 matches the 1080ti/2080 for 350 with much better RT capabilities

I reckon 1080Ti will be going for £350 by xmas. Expect the new 3060 to equal a 1080Ti but it’ll be around 420ish for aib models, so people will still turn to the 1080Ti I bet. People just love that card, I saw an ebay listing for one go for £550 the other day lol.

For gamer, waiting for next gen of cards is the right choice. Let's see what's price tags of AMD and Nvidia's new flagship cards. just lost my count (y) RTX 20xx cards, has accelerate command in cuda. With 88 ROPs and 11Gb memory, a cost efficient | enter level | deep-learning machine could be build with 2of this cards in Sli. Much cheaper than titan, Quadro or tesla :(

Surely you mean a price below 4 digits?

The gtx 1080 and the 1080ti are both still great cards, I was surprised how comparable the RTX 2060 super is with the the abilities of the GTX 1080, the RTX 2060 super seems like a GTX 1080 with ray tracing options.

The next gen of consoles should hopefully bring a nice 4k high to ultra 60fps gaming experience as opposed to the current consoles, 30fps with quite often lots of tricks and visual compromise to display in 4k, but I find even 1440p upscaled to 4k looks great visually, I've just bought a rtx 2060 supper as a stop gap card, I'm going to sell my RTX 2080ti whilst prices are high, I buy and resell PC parts for a living, so my RTX 2080ti was bought at a bargain price, with a nice profit to be had, even after using it for the past 10 months or so, but I'd rather cash in ahead of the crowd and hope that the RTX 3080 is a good price and is perhaps a bit faster than the 2080ti, which suits my 4k 60fps gaming setup.

You are same as me then! I am on 1080ti and play all the games I like on PC ultra wide and I am very happy with my experience. I too can't justify the price of this card but I understand this card is not aimed at people like me.

Damn, literally was about to order and decided to look at some Youtube video's on it and they bumped the price up by £100 :(

I posted a couple Alienware M15 r3 deals, this seems a great spec if you can get the discount, my M15 just turned up a couple days ago but it’s only for the rtx 2070, and slower ram with smaller drives as standard so this could be a better deal, just abit exclusive......that said not a lot between the 2080 and 2070 cards That said they have no decent 15 inch option, think that’s why I skipped it in the end

defiantly, i also heard that because of the insane amount of power this things draws, battery life is kind of out the window. But then again, what do you expect with this type of machine xD

I’ve been nosing around the userbenchmark site since Dws96 posted the link, and assuming the 3D DX9 and DX10 GPU benchmarks are a decent proxy for actual gaming performance, mainly seems to be performing between a desktop 2070 super and 2080. So definitely an absolute beast for a laptop. Keeping an eye on it for now, any further drop and I’m likely to bite.

Use https://pcpartpicker.com/ to check out parts on prebuilds, markets are bad for pc parts with low supply and high demand but all the 'building' sites are charging loads when they price up the parts on these sites and will charge you 300-500 for the build and delivery whilst offering often weaker warrantys than the sum of the parts if bought seperate and they often cut corners on the motherboards and power supplies to cut costs which you probably wouldn't notice initially but could ruin everything after a bit of time. There is also the risk of cherrpicked bad parts being offloaded into your new machine as it will come built you will not be able to tell if something new looking was a display model or had its chip tested and is known to be bad already or even if they've used refurbished parts if you don't know what your looking for. If you want a high end computer honestly build it yourself its easier than you think and theres a ton of resources and reviews on everything and pcpartpicker is great as it will tell you if your parts are compatible and how much power you'll need. If however time is a factor and money is no object and you really can't face it go with a really reputable brand through their official site like Alienware, there are a lot of random warehouses on industrial estates making these 'gaming' pcs but I would just stick with a really reputable named brand.

Totally agree.

But wouldn’t be discounting it if it was selling well would they, especially a £700 discount. If your looking to get a similar gaming experience then you can get that for a lot less. Hence why it’s not value for money and why even at a reduction of £700 it’s not blazing off the shelves and being voted hot. At £2800 you could even get a sick desktop gaming PC, peripherals and a quality laptop, and still have money in your back pocket and you want to argue with me about this being a good deal?.....

There’s gaming Laptops with this hardware for a lot less if your looking for ‘convenience’. On that note you can also buy an off the shelf gaming desktop for a lot less (when most people shell out for a gaming laptop and never move it from their desk (annoyed) ). I’d also argue that if they are discounting it by £700 then clearly it’s not flying off the shelf and it’s overpriced enough they can take £700 off the RRP (lol) (lol)

I think you answered you own question when you said ‘good deal’ implying value for money. If someone wants one sure go ahead and buy it but doesn’t mean it’s good value for money......even at £700 off I think the argument is it’s still not value for money compared to other offerings.

Your missing the part when I said a standard laptop 2080. There’s two versions. A low powered one which is this one and the regular one which is nearly on par with the desktop one depending on which vendor/laptop you go with. That can be had for the same money. Why would you pay £3k for a sub par gpu. Just get a laptop with the full one. I hope that clears that up for you

Dude it's a laptop, it's obviously not going to beat a high end desktop.

It was never really as big of a thing as people claimed it to be. I have a few friends with a 5700 XT; none had issues. It seems like there was one bad driver released to the general public that had issues (only affecting some people anyway) that was then used as a way to scare people away from AMD. You always hear more of the negative reviews as those without issues won't go out of their way to say anything. I say all this as an Nvidia fan.

i agree with most of this BUT you dont think AMD want to make just as much money as the other 2? reason there prices are lower is only to get people to switch to Ryzen cpu/Gpu and get you away from there competitors, problem for gpu side is there is still countless issues with drivers etc where as you could just buy a nividia gpu and will just work and very very rarely has driver issues.

Of course it is. Hence why amd sales are up while Nvidia are down

£1015 now (shock)

Not been in the market for PC components since 2013 when i built my 3570k/290X lightning PC. Still rocking it and it plays everything on ultra although at 1080p. Cant believe people are still saying AMD cards and drivers are crap. If you pay nvidea prices then youve only yourself to blame for nvidea riping you off.

It's February, and if you are talking repacked fruit it absolutely should be that price. It has to be transported hundreds if not thousands of miles, prepared, packed in a plastic package with a nitrogen atmosphere and the as quickly as possible transported to the point of sale before it spoils in anywhere from 24-72 hours. To be honest it's a small market, AMD weren't a healthy enough company until very recently to be able to cater to niche markets even if it had ancillary benefits. This year looks like they will be, which will be good for the market and even if they aren't that successful they will drive down prices or increase value for the price paid.

Yeah if you play at 4k you'll see a big difference. But many people prefer higher details or FPS so run 1440p. All I can say is going from a 1080 to a 2070 super, I didn't find it an amazing change to the quality of my games. I've forgot what the actual point was lol but I think the new Xbox is going to be great regardless.

"100 FPS or 130" or "40 and 60" depending on game, details and resolution. And yes, many people would notice 40 vs 60 fps. I don't care about people, I care about me, it's me playing, not the people. I understand you own a 1080 so your comments.

Isn't the 2080 30% faster than a 1080? Sounds a lot but that's 100 FPS or 130. Yes nice and all but not massively so and nothing that will blow you away. Graphics will look the same. Most people won't notice is what I'm trying to get at. Only reason I own the two cards is for two different computers. In a blind play test I wouldn't know them apart. So still not sure why you scoffed at my original comment tbh.

Between 70 and 100 fps I can see lots of difference. Can see it even more when it's 80 fps vs 120 as shown in the image below (so we are talking about almost 40% of difference). If you don't see differences being used to play to less than around 100 fps than the 1080 is good for you. It also matters the resolution. I personally play at 3440x1440 on a 120hz GSync monitor and even the 2080Ti in some games cannot hit 120fps (of course this can be easily achieved lowering the quality settings). I suggest you to not start playing at 120fps (I do it since the first ever 120hz monitor in 2012) as you will get used so easily that when playing to lower than 90/100 fps will be super easy to notice and you won't like. Kind of spoilt. I'll probably go for the 3080Ti if it will allow to have always 120fps with ultra quality settings everywhere.

A huge price drop on this graphics card, these cards are currently within the top 10 of performers and only around 10-15% less performance than a 2080ti for nearly half the price :… Read more

So Ive only had one issue on witcher 3 on fyke isle, someone on reddit mentioned it to amd and the driver version released today addresses it. Works fine now, nice they patched it so rapidly. I did have to use ddu to clear my software for drivers, and initially I had issues with random blackscreens. Was annoying, but now its all fixed im pretty happy. For the price its unbearable, my card costed me 330, a 2070S with a equivalent cooler would set me back 470 even with the recent ebay code. The little time i had to spend was definatelt worth the 140 saving imo. I think nvidia might step it back up for 3000 series, amd will push them to be more competitive i hope.

I've always chosen Nvidia due to less heat, less TDP and most importantly the drivers, at a higher cost to me. How are AMD doing on the driver side? Gamers Nexus's Tech Jesus mentioned they were still below par. Does it affect you? Do you have any issues with the games you play?

Yeah hope 3000 with be a return to form. AMD's XT is a great card, first amd card I've put a build together with an it runs very quiet, cool and is fast as a 1080Ti (nitro edition) which is more than enough for most gamers today.

100% agree with you. It's a shame AMD have been so far Nvidia at each launch. I'm referring to the flagship GPU. AMD have made Nvidias low and mid range cards a little bit cheaper so they can compete. Also the Super should have been the original RTX cards, but they only came out later. Just shows how much Nvidia are abusing the market and especially the early adopters. Bring on the RTX 3000 Ampere series in Q3 2020 and hopefully it is a lot more friendly to us enthusiasts. Worst case scenario is a decent price drop on RTX 2000 GPUs. We can only hope AMD turn up at the races with decent competition.

The lack of competition has brought out the worst in nvidia imo. It's so hard to justify an upgrade to this gen when the prices are so absurd, frankly it's put me off them as a company. The 2060 super launched for £420, a mid range card for over four hundred quid! It's mad.
