Using eBay code PARTY for 20% off from eBuyer. Great price for an RTX 2080 graphics card
liltman

Ah cool, phew! so similar to mine lol. It's a really good card. It's the first time I ever spent so much on a GPU and my God it is worth it lol. It's lasted me ages and still going and to think if I never upgraded my resolution and just stayed at 1080p then it would still destroy everything (nearly)

Parallax

And the GPU temp is 75-77 (I've never checked it before!).

Parallax

I've got an Asus Strix 980ti. It's almost inaudible, even while gaming, so I've absolutely no complaints. And I'm still on a i5 2500K. At the moment I'm mostly playing AC Odyssey and the frame rate is sort of around 45-50fps for general running around, and over 50 sometimes, and then very short dips in the 35-40 range. It's really pretty good.

3anana

In that case I would hold out to be honest. 980 Ti is still very capable and 5800 XT willl be coming along a little later this year so you'll have a good choice between that and the 2080 Super or Ti depending on how they all perform and are priced relative to each other. A 980 Ti is on average about similar performance to a GTX 1660 so I'd imagine performance numbers for that card would be somewhat representative of yours since most reviews don't publish performance numbers for 900 series cards nowadays.

liltman

Ah nice, another 980ti user :D Which version of the card do you have btw? Mine is gigabyte gtx 980 ti g1 gaming. I like to ask what temps other 980ti users get as mine gets stupidly hot. Usually hangs around 65 on a good cooler day but on days like today usually stuck on 70 - 82c which annoys the crap out of me lol. Also, what's the most demanding game you play and what kinda FPS u getting? You say u still impressed with it overall so I imagine pretty good.

Nvi I don't think Nvidia have said "we are replacing the 2080 with the Super" because they can't yet, but the 2080 is not in their RTX product lineup anymore. That's from the Nvidia site and a subtle but pretty conclusive indication the 2080 will be no more. They could have probably slotted the 2080 in there at $599 which would have interested me, but I guess they want you to buy the Super at $699 instead.

Badongkadong

Yeah, I'm not so confident of their views unless it's from an Nvidia statement. I can't see them cutting their profit margins unless the new cards cost less to make perhaps?

rcom

All the articles and well respected Youtubers I've seen mention this all say the 2080 is being replaced by Super, as happened with the 2070/Super.

Sorry I think I wasn’t very clear. What I meant is that in Japan, the price of graphic cards in their own currency haven’t changed that much as the JPY/USD has been constant. For us in the UK we took a big hit in our currency in an very short time while our revenues remain roughly the same, so the cards appear quite expensive (no matter where you buy it as the gbp has become weaker against anything). It’s not just Brexit as you can observe the phenomenon else where in Europe but yeah it’s particularly bad here.

Might be worth hanging on for these rumored 'super rtx' cards. Think the 2070 will be as good as a 2080 but priced like a, erm, 2070? I dunno, google it before deciding.

Nate1492

Wait a bit, the NVIDIA Super lineup and NAVI releases that are coming soon will drive these prices down a lot.

Drei69

But would Amazon UK handle the return of the card if anything goes wrong? Or would you have to pay to return it to France? Or deal directly with the manufacturer? Bear in mind that Amazon FR may not ship to UK, or if it does it will charge you another £20 shipping. I actually made a purchase for an item on the US Amazon site, which shipped from a seller in France:))) at a much lower price than the same seller was selling on the UK Amazon site. This was a collectable toy. Not sure I would try it with £600 worth.

GrimyRascal

Woooooooooooh, Inclusive of delivery! @£609.89 it better arrive presented from the hands of Scarlett Johansen on a silk cushion.

LazybeatX

Hopefully when Intel release their GPUs it will force Nvidia to lower prices. But I suppose it all depends on how they perform and what price point they aim for. Still more competition is good.

Nate1492

AMD are always going to struggle if they target the middle of the road card with their most expensive model. The 480 came in at a good price point, but since then, there has been very little compelling offers from AMD's launch windows. The Vega 56 has come down in price and is slightly attractive, but you can't find a non blower model at the attractive price, so it's really annoying. They don't seem to be able to put up the fight needed to drive competition.

Just a massive weight difference between a Super JetStream and a Dual cooling solution is kind of scary. The Jetstream cooler is huge.

Niall_Fawcett

Yeah, I'm gonna stick to console 'till I win the lottery

Thoughtful

Nvidia are reported to be refreshing this range with much faster GDDR 6 memory than is currently used, and also they have been producing two different grades of GPU chips which will now be rationalised only to the 'a' grade better one. If you're going to spend this kind of money then better to either hang on or wait for the old stock to be reduced as it's effectively inferior.

I've got an EVGA 2080Ti 2 fan card, albeit black edition ACX fan type, and the fan noise is totally acceptable - quieter than my CPU cooling. I've never hit temperature limit on the card.

greesha

Not quite. Apparently dual fan one was quite loud compared to other 2080's from what i could have find. Also running higher temperatures than other comparable other cards, also was more expansive. In general - not the greatest choice I hope 3 fan version is better. Anyway i purchased this card now so IT better be haha.

jameshothothot

Fair enough :) I forgot about them!! Don't see them referred to much on hardware unboxed videos as I guess not fully in production. Maybe that can help... £640 from googling..

3anana

Err.. The Radeon VII is comparable to a 2080. Rest of the line up: 1070 = 1660 Ti < Vega 56 < RTX 2060 = Vega 64 This is a decent card though and the recent price drop and included games add value, although BF5 and Anthem are extremely lacklustre. Personally I would just sell those codes.

jameshothothot

Has anyone got one yet to confirm if has the free games? Some comments suggest wait a week for email. Comments are mixed for more than one gpu as well. Edit just seen on link it says promotion... And click on it and it mentions three games. Shall I pull trigger??? Don't need it but want it. Currently have a grx 1070 and a 4k TV. It is fine if dial settings to medium 4k or 1440p but Ghost Recon Wildlands needs something stronger.... So have been looking at 2nd hand 1080tis until now. 17.3 Really small bezel so it makes the screen seem even bigger but overall the laptop is barely bigger than the 15" Asus I upgraded from, so no need to change my rucksack etc.

Timespy I got 7154 I think it was. Game wise I've played Sekiro, division 2 and metro exodus so far. Sekiro and division 2 are fully maxed out and 60fps. Metro exodus just dips below 60 here and there at ultra with all bells and whistles. Metro games are always bloody power hungry. They all look great though. Noise wise you definitely hear it when the fans kick in but I don't think I've ever had a gaming laptop that's quiet in the 7 that I've owned. I wear headphones anyway so it's all moot.

Looks like the price is 659 when I follow the link. When amazon last sold RTX 2080 cards at approx £550 I ordered one. When the item finally came in stock they just cancelled my order and said I could re-order it if I wished. At which point the Amazon price was £700 ! The Second hand prices on 1080Ti's are far too high atm, with the RTX2080 being a faster card, and likely to get even quicker as new games with DLSS are released. It's also going to hold its value longer and be more future proof . If you have a 1080Ti it's not worth upgrading, but if like me you are looking the extra £150 or so for the newer card makes much more sense.

I got the codes. Nvidia said they were valid. But they would not be accepted in gforce experience. After several days with nvidia trying to sort it they last sent me an email that if they dont hear from me in 72 hours they will assume its working and now they are ignoring my emails. So I am sending card back.

jadavitas

I had to contact Ebuyer regarding the codes, cause i didnt receive the code during those 5 days. Just email the vendor that you bought your card from, they will have to sort this out for you. Nvidia wont be able to get the codes for you, unless you bought it from them directly.

jadavitas

@rufioh I had problems with them too, but last 3 deliveries i had the same guy making deliveries. Was on point with them.

Not sure if I mentioned above, but my address is really difficult to find for people who just follow sat nav then give up. So it's something I have to take into account, but most people will likely be ok. Having said that, I've had issues with Yodel at previous addresses too. Amd is no competition for nvidia, prices dropped because the pascal stock has evaporated as it was bound to happen when nvidia priced turing one step above them. I wouldn't expect further price drops on 2080 till the new generation comes out. 2080ti on the other hand are disappearing like hotcakes, so they increased more in price since release

johnw84

Got to agree. They've literally compared the radeon vii to the 2080 and its mixed. If the vii was a hundred or more less then great, but at the same price, what's the point? I've absolutely no doubt waiting for the competition to release their new line is the best option... for almost every purchase ever.

999tigger

Think you are better off waiting to see if AMD offer anything better with NAVI. This gen is more of an overpriced bust imo and they might get more competitive on the refresh and 7nm or whatever the next size down is. Nvidias share price has fallen by half so maybe they will stop being so greedy and get back to being competitive.

johnw84

The problem is, the 10 series still command as high a price as ever, so it is pretty much the same price for a 1080ti or this. The 2080 preforms better and has better future potential. The used market for the 1080ti is rubbish too. You might get a cheap one for 450 with no warranty but I've seen most go from 500-600. It just doesn't make sense. Great price for this card at the moment. Especially with the free game (though I wish it was a better game!.) I wouldn't bank on AMD offering much competitively either. In terms of price or performance.

I'd get a 2080 Ti myself, in fact I did :)

I would say mediocre, cheapest one around for now. I had bad experience with EVGA warranty too so not sure. I never recommend EVGA to people. Like Razer. Great American companies, great customer services in the States but bad for EU customers. Depends on your wallet, you could pay another £40 and get the Zotac, MSI or Gigabyte. Seems that prices are going up rather than down for the better cards. Also where does it say you get Battlefield 5? I can't see that on any of the cards posted here, especially on Amazon.

So... is this a good deal or not?
