Well, my dad just got ripped off for my little brother so it's a "new" pc custom built (shock)

dioxyde0

time to upgrade pal

bilalbilal

Is it possible to use a 6 pin to 8 pin PSU adaptor for this? 500w PSU but reading mixed thing about adaptors online..... Also would the ram slots come in the way of the GPU, never had such a thick and long GPU before lol

Mooseh

I had this conversation with someone else on another post. If you know where you can get an rx 580 8gb for £120 then show me a link to it, its not difficult.

lol they sell for that all the time, set a price alert lol

lol CCL did exactly the same with my old graphics card. The screen would go green when turned off so they tested it by gaming with it for 2 hours. (confused) Although, after I requested a full refund from within Paypal, they gave me a full refund.

john.keane

I wouldn't buy anything from scan. Bought a monitor from them which did not work correctly (frequent black screens) sent it back to them and they tested it for the wrong thing and sent it back to me, refusing to acknowledge the fault despite me having video evidence of it. Little off topic maybe but stay away from scan!

This GPU came without a box, and screws not in properly that stuck out. Do not buy.

580 4gb or 8gb?

DonBo81

Think prices have changed, can do same self build with rx580 for £455.

sarden84

ive had a look in this for 3600 at all levels...... its not advicing on even higher gpus, change case.. whatever this isnt the build any longer for 3600... this is alright for that £475 on an a320 for someone, only cos ur getting an 8gb rx570...... and only that. the awd 4rx570 is a better set up, and if moving from of them up then palicomp. Palicomp for all builds 575+ theres only one build which knocks a pali n thats the b550/5700xt but only due to it being b550.... for the same cost u can get a higher T B450/better XT for the same cost vs a low T B550 5700xt once u put them in lines so its choices,.. thats at £850 time u sort storage out in the awd.. Pali is getting B550 and they have said they will knock that AWD out the water, so im looking forward to that. but tbh, ill pitching them on "better B550s" perhaps a tomahawk/mort B550 im not fav one firm over any, its pretty much self explained in the price tag / service considering ive done more CCL builds on here then any other firm,

sarden84

I will go though the 3600 line in more details tomorrow but first impressions aint looking good, obviously ur going to defo make them nes changes for that more prem pc... fix the issues.. and even go for atleast an RX580 at CCL.. I think eGPU is ok but your MBP’s CPU will hobble you anyway. The card should have enough bandwidth across TB3. Bundle deals or refurbs are good (though personally I rarely buy refurb desktops, only refurb laptops). The OP of this thread posts lots of them - click his username and see his recent deals. £400-500 would be the tower only but you can find cheap monitors if on a budget (I got one from Cash Converters for £15 for a garage PC before). I didn’t assume your budget but figured you didn’t want to go mad - the other guy came along and, well, you can see for yourself. My suggested specs were the baseline for something to look for, not for maximum performance - if you’re happy with medium settings but smooth performance, then what I suggested still stands and the RX 570 is a good start point paired with a relatively modern 4-6 core CPU (eg Core i3/5 or Ryzen). If you are capable of building yourself you can spec it out just as you need.

MexicanJoker

Thank you for your advice. I think I will try to sell the Mac and purchase parts. Out of curiosity if I did go down the EGOU route with a card such as a 570, what can I expect performance to be like? I don't know If I should look at bundle deals or try and get some refurb parts to get the most for my money. When you say £500 should get me something decent, would that just be the tower? I'm broke and on a budget. I just want to be able to run games on medium, I don't particularly care about max settings tbf.

plewis00

I just wanted to see if you knew what you were talking about so pitching a GT 1030 as a gaming PC is pretty ironic. Double standards? 'Potential trap' lol... why don't you bother reading the context so you don't come across as arrogant and out of touch? What part of 'coming from a MacBook Pro with integrated graphics and on a budget' don't you understand? RDR2's requirements are lower than anything I said. Your suggestion is a used desktop with no SSD and waiting for 20% off Amazon Warehouse that's not been on for 5 months... that's really nothing to write home about. I'll take one of OP's pre-built deals any day.

deleted1538938

Lol you seem to be pretty hyped up about my £275 PC "a stranger" posted 2 years ago! Pretty cheap wasn't it... I'm just offering my opinion as someone who actually owns a machine with the specs I've posted... I wouldn't want to buy a machine with the downgraded poor specs you gave, and that's why I thought it would be useful for the uninitiated to be aware of the potential trap you were setting them. Anyway, live and let live I say, peace and out.

plewis00

Yes, I am. A stranger who hasn’t provided any help whatsoever has turned up while being too lazy to read the context. Let me help you out: the thread is about an RX 560 refurb (a £60 card) and the guy has a MBP13 now and limited budget. You’ve decided in your wisdom that a GTX 1660 is the minimum you must have (3.5x more than this) but on the flipside you can pedal a PC with a GT 1030 for gaming? Most people would agree that any recent i3/5/7 quad (or better) or Ryzen + RX Polaris (full core) or GTX 1650/1060 is the minimum you should aim for. Anything better is a bonus.

What's your budget?. It should handle competitive settings (Most people play with it for fps). I think you should get a few hundred ok comp settings. Mabye turn the textures/effects up. There are many benchmarks ok YouTube on this card

kevw

Yes it will and more, I bought an almost identical PC from CCL with 8GB RAM.

ocelot20

It's it's for simply just Fortnite if it was my. I would buy a second hand PS4 as you don't have to worry about ps+ or anything as free to play games don't require it. I would say maybe think getting a original Xbox one as they are cheaper but you need Xbox live to play Fortnite where on PlayStation you don't need any subscriptions. Or like at @sarden84 suggested the cheap £215 pc plus maybe a Rx 460 for £55 at cex. Not 100% certain how good that card is but I'm sure it will handle Fortnite at 60fps 1080?/900p with half decent settings.

sarden84

okay got ya..... wait to this come back instock. AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6 Core (Socket AM4) CPU motherboard: ASRock B450M-HDV AMD Socket AM4 Motherboard Adata XPG Gammix D10 8GB (1x 8GB) 3000MHz DDR4 x2 £215....... u got a SSD / hdd / case / psu.. as for GPU get a nice refurb here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sapphire-Radeon-RX-470-Graphics-Card-8GB-GDDR5-PCI-Express-3-0-DVI-D/274317757984?hash=item3fde9cce20:g:K2EAAOSwR4hee4Ou other than that i guess stick with the ps4 idea, if the cpu doesnt come instock in a day let me know and ill source elsewhere for u, its the new ref so been redone and is just under a 2600 at better cost. this way, if he wants to go more elite down the line and if this gpu becomes to slow down the line u only will need to upgrade the gpu at the very first instant, but will handle all titles depending on settings at decent fps at 1080 none the less.

if it is cheaper yes as long as the speed matched your current ram but i think the ram on cex are sold out. i recently bought g skill ripjaws for £25 off ebay because i already had 8gb and wanted a matching set of ram. At the time i wasnt aware of looking on cex but i wanted matching ram purely for aesthetic.

Sabbeh

Out of interest, would you recommend Cex RAM? I only ask as it appears to be around as expensive as new RAM.

gimmeadealplease

Already refunded - so very fast for an item that I don't believe has even been returned by royal mail yet. At lunchtime it was "in transit" after being posted 48 hour delivery on Saturday. So products seem poor, but CS is very good. My card appeared in mint condition - ie thoroughly deep cleaned, so curious why cards would be cleaned but not tested when "refurbished". It is difficult to leave anything other than positive feedback on ebay - but then that doesn't inform people that the cards mostly appear to not work.

I had the same card GTX960 2gb and this is a huge difference. I went from only just playing Warzone on low settings with FPS drop to 60 fps max settings at 1080p

CCL IS BACK IN STOCK! buy quick anyone who wants the 1600 as it’s literally sold out everywhere apart from Azla (not uk based company with high postage) and they are selling on eBay used for higher than CCL prices. It’s honestly a steal and once it’s gone nothing really compares at this price point.

I just wanted whatever was the cheapest best graphics card I could get my hands on. People were still trying to sell 7970HD's for £50, I wanted one for £30-35 but no one would budge so I got the rx470 for £65 off eBay, fans looked spotless and it had all the plastic covers for the ports, I don't even think the previous owner even used it from what I could tell. All I wanted was to carry on playing CSGO after my 7870XT died, I owned it for 6 years and bought it for £180 in early 2013 and that MSI Armor RX470 wipes the floor with it, consumes half the power for double the performance and VRAM.

Well I have a 280 in an old dell I'm using now, I have got a 570 in my other computer that I was going to quickly swap out and test before buying, But there was only one left, So I bought the last one, Sorry, At that price it's not really a gamble, But I'm still gonna swap it out and see if it helps as it's only an old overclocked Q6600 at 3ghz, But it's good enough for what I use it for.

until u get the 5700 levels.... thats when i would consider the swap to the 3600. 1660 super is great for a 1600af as the counter in price is 3600/rx580 and the super/1600af is massively better.

EVH316

Cheers, that's really helpful. Nice one (y)

1600AF all the way. Watched youtube comparisons 1660af vs 2600 vs 3600 and there was almost no difference for games vs 2600. 3600 is 10% better or so fps with a 2080ti, but prob less improvement with a 1660 super, so seriously hard to justify the extra cash than 1600af for 1080p gaming, IMO

EVH316

I'm looking at the 1660 super too, which cpu did you go for? I can't decide if the 1600af or 3600 is best matched with it. Thanks (y)

What's the cheapest way to get one shipped to Poland? Seller won't ship it to Poland directly when bought from eBay.

The 480 is the better card, just check the user benchmarks/reviews from the time they are both old cards though, you'd be better to just get a more modern energy efficient one like the gtx1650 though as you'll save the money in electricity over time.

plewis00

They are similar speeds all considered but the 8GB memory is clocked faster and more useful at this time - I believe. You can OC the 470’s core so I’d take an 8GB 470 over a 4GB 480 - personally anyway. The 480 has 4 more CUs than the 470 (12.5% more) but that gap can be closed with an OC.

Maybe a daft question is would you say this is better deal than the RX 480 4GB NITRO+ @ £75 from them which i have my eye on? Thanks

JungleBug

You are wrong, Sandy Bridge are known to be fantastic overclocking chips thanks in part to having a soldered heatsink spreader as opposed to tim for most other cpus that followed. 4.5 ghz overclock was and is very easy to achieve and due to the 'silicone lottery' 5ghz was quite common. I used to read a lot on anantech forums about this very thing for years, so you are speaking to someone that knows what they are talking about.
