I've had my refund through already. Ended up buying the XFX RX580 XXX elsewhere. It's running flawless. I think my Vega 56 was too much for his power supply. The PC kept shutting down mid game.

360baby

Wont you get slower speed if you put it in the wrong pci slot? Since boards come with 3/4 pci slots.

davidfwalsh

Mine arrived and first thing that happened was the coil whine sounded like a bag of cats. So bloody loud I said it's going straight back. But I changed the slot for the graphics card to a different one and it's whisper quiet now. Everything running very smoothly now. Will keep you updated.

I've tried everything, my brother is dropping it off to my house tonight so I can try in my machine. He put my Vega 56 into his and has managed to play ok now.

Mada06

That's interesting. I created a webnote to ask about the RMA process and also asked what testing this "B" grade cards went through? I didn't have a single crash with my previous card (which I have reverted back to). I'm not going to spend hours tweaking the card and settings, if it doesn't work out the box at stock then it's going back.

I second that 5700 no contest really.

yubious

Yep either go for the 56 for about 20% less or the 5700 for £30 more.

3anana

Honestly, the 5700 for an extra £30 or so is definitely better. You're paying about 10% more for about that much performance, much less power draw and overall better architecture moving forward. Plus XT bios flash.

Why bother when the 5700 is a tiny bit more????

If you want Ultra 1440p at 144hz that's pushing it Maybe some games I've got this GPU (well aftermarket one) I can play games on Ultra Ultrawide 1080p and I get about 70-80fps on the games I play which are demanding and for the money in really happy, my CPU is Ryzen 3600 so that's a thing to consider too, it's not always about GPU, the rest of the PC can bottleneck

gstewart79

Thanks both

On some games, at some detail levels.(if paired with an adequate CPU)

Brilliant deal, I have the sapphire vega 56 and really happy with it at 4k, runs everything.

swhizzle

Be warned that if you have an unmoulded die it's very easy to completely kill your card by replacing the paste. (I did exactly that :D)

Badongkadong

For that kind of added cost, why not just buy an RX5700?

The gigabyte version with two fans is being sold for £15 on ebuyer, which is the one I have gone for

waxsta

Anyone been through an RMA process with CCL?

waxsta

I too bought it brand new CCL. Here is the exact model. CCL doesn't sell these anymore.

HammyJ51

No, they only said that fault was confirmed and they will refund me.

waxsta

Did they give any details of the fault? Assuming that you had the exact same issue as me?

The reference 5700 is £329, marginally faster in some games, and much faster in others. 50% less power consumption too

I had to buy a Vega 64 as it was the only card I could find with 3 x HDMI and 3 x dp that I need. However for most people I'd go with the newer card, it'll get better support from AMD going forward.

ritchiedrama

I mean, Vega 64 is a decent card once you've undervolted & overclocked, for £309 it's not a bad price, I've not kept up with tech the last few months aside from Ryzen, but I know the 5700XT is decent, really it comes down to is £100 important to you or not, for me, I usually buy the more expensive thing at the time if its better (check youtube benchmarks from reputable hardware reviewers, Hardware Unboxed are my usual go-to).

PUBJESUS

Don't know if user benchmarks is any good but here is the result for the 5700 non xt and xt. https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-RX-Vega-64-vs-AMD-RX-5700/3933vs4046 https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-RX-Vega-64-vs-AMD-RX-5700-XT/3933vs4045 Highly depends on your monitor resolution and refresh rate as to whether you'll even notice the difference though.
