Yea, i think you mean 6.9cm or 69mm. I'm sure the Xperia is good, but I like the curved glass display and the quality pictures you get with a Samsung. I think only iPhone pictures would be better, however the iPhone is another Apple trap with silly device prices and being tied into the "apple system" with little control over the phone settings, requirements for mfi charging cables, etc. Also you can always get spare parts for a Samsung phone because they're so popular. Even just recently I got a new genuine Samsung S7 edge battery for mine. I would hazard a guess that less popular manufacturers stop making spare parts for most of their phones over 2 years old, leaving you to pick between Chinese 3rd party batteries on Amazon.
The Sony Xperia 10 II is just 6.9mm wide & reasonably good spec (£319): https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B089WH4Q21/
I'm in the same boat with my S7 edge. People talk about Huawei p30 and p40 as good choices, and also about the OnePlus 8, 8t, 8pro as alternatives. The thing I like about owning Samsung is the availability of replacement parts (now on my 3rd battery) and the build/design quality. The S7 edge is 72.6mm wide and I get Thumb ache if I'm reaching to the left side of the screen too often. Most newer phones seem to be 74mm to 76mm now which in my mind makes "one-handed" use almost impossible. I'm considering "upgrading" to an S9.
Poco X3 for 229 direct from Xiaomi.... 60 quid cheaper, bigger battery ( by a mile) 120hz screen, better camera. 33w fast charge. Nuff said.
Do not buy this for the Camera. As it doesn't have stabilization, it's rubbish. Friend bought one and ended up sending it back.
Looks like a good price, but I don't think the stupid flippy camera thing is gonna last a couple of years of even moderate use if you want to take selfies or do video calls. I have an A50 as a work phone which has a "normal" camera layout and I'd probably go for that ahead of this. You get a notch in the screen but as that's almost always filled in with the clock and notification symbols the extra screen space isn't a benefit as far as I'm concerned. I do find the A50 is really too big to use one handed as well - and this A80 is even bigger. My S9 is perfectly sized in my opinion, so will be looking for something sub-6" when that gets replaced.
Is this still worth the price, considering all latest triple camera phones Samsung have been releasing lately?

Headphone jack is going to disappear unfortunately. All they newer phones are dropping it. 128GB is plenty enough for a phone
Been toying around with buying the A70 at this price after my old iphone's battery has given up.. A80 for the same price is tempting but 2 major features missing in A80 for anyone considering buying it are the headjack and micro sd slot....
I have this phone and although the camera is fab and the full screen is great for viewing the speaker is under the screen and makes it hard to hear people and it increases who else can hear them during a call. The fingerprint scanner is the worst I've used in phones and the Performance is ok. I regret getting it on contract but would happily pay this price for it.
Thanks! Nice to hear from a genuine owner. Yeah that's why I was steering away from S10 Lite I didn't think the processor seemed that much better compared to M31. Battery was 1500mAh less. And I lose my 3.5mm headphone socket :'-( Wireless charging isn't a priority but be nice to have. No so bothered by plastic. I used to keep my phones pristine but both my S7 Edge and M20 look like they've done tours in Afghanistan :'-( My wife's bad for water damage but touch wood I've never wrecked a phone like that. I like this A80 and again it's be nice to have a glass backed more premium feeling phone again. But the lack of MicroSD is a deal breaker. If I can't use my 256GB MicroSD which is almost full it's a no go. I had considered a cheap Pixel as I'd love the Vanilla experience but the above MicroSD kills it and my wife and I rather foolishly used Samsung apps for calendar sharing and all.
Speed is the biggest problem with these Samsung A's and M's. More so the M30s / M31 as Exynos has been performing pretty poorly lately and while this A80's Qualcomm 730 is A76 based, the frequency is a bit low.
S10lite also has no 3.5mm jack. No wireless charging, no protection against dust&water, plastic body, can't change screen resolution etc etc etc. I'm selling mine on ebay for 399.
GSMarena don't always get it right, so it may be misinformation, I generally let people do their own research, and 9 times out of 10, the phones I post, someone (an owner) comments within the thread with 'real information'

'Opened Never Used' Samsung Galaxy A80 - 128GB - Phantom Black (Unlocked) (Dual SIM) Smartphone - £265.99 With Code @ Techsave2006 / Ebay£265.99£279.995% off Free P&P FreeeBay Deals
I found a nice case on amazon for it ,it has a gap for where the camera comes out with a thin bezel https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07QPN4HYV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Got mine today from this seller. Box was a bit battered and seal broken but phone inside appears brand new apart from the fact it doesn't have the peel off plastic over the screen they usually do and a few flecks of dust that easily wiped off. Charger/headphones etc still sealed . Thinking ex-display model been sat in a window somewhere. The shiny metal picks up fingerprints fast though so definitely needs a case!
Watch a video review of the A80. There is no camera at the front, when you choose selfie/WhatsApp video, the rear camera flips up and turns towards you. 1. Mechanism is a bit suspect, will it last? 2. From what I can see you're not able to buy a proper case due to the camera mechanism [it has to leave the top of the phone open for the camera to flip up]
Could you elaborate on the problem with WhatsApp on this phone? Thanks

The higher the Gorilla glass number isn't the better one. But that depends on what the definition of better is. Some may be off but usually the higher the number, the more scratch resistant they are but also become easier to smash (more brittle). I think GS3 was one of the better compromises
This has 8gb ram, some A90s only have 6gb, surprisingly; all have bigger battery m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9659&idPhone2=9795 A90 has flagship specs, except camera; it's targeted at Xiaomi & other premium budget Chinese brands, £300-£400 segment, head to head against Mix 3 5G etc - shame about cameras, but it'd belong to S series otherwise A80 on the other hand, it's a premium midranger through and through, with USP the rotating camera: excellent for vloggers, conference callers and selfie fans, and there are a few of those
Yeh camera performance can be certainly compared but one other thing I noticed other than the usual (processor and etc..) is glass type. A80: Glass front (Gorilla Glass 3), glass back (Gorilla Glass 6), aluminum frame A90: Glass front (Gorilla Glass 6), glass back (Gorilla Glass 6), aluminum frame I bought a A70 (Gorilla Glass 3) few months back for my brother and after day of use without a screen protector, there were visible small scratches. This may not be a huge concern once you got a case and screen protector but corners are cut to reduce the cost of these phones.
No mate, it was just a listing mistake in the end.
But why? Does it have a second sim slot that doubles as sd - or is it a full size sd for use in pc etc? Is that deal expired now? I'm very tempted but there seem to be a few bad reviews about how delicate it is.
It did say in the listing you got a free SD card.
Is that a typo or is there such a thing as an ad card? I ask cos I didn't think the a80 had a card slot.
Its back in stock and available to order on their website again...
