Brought about a week ago from argos for 29.99. Takes 5 minutes to warm up, bread i buy is too large and the crusts stick out the ends. Even after 6 minutes at max the toast doesn't seem right. Prefer my old 4.99 machine. This is loads easier to clean though which is the main reason i brought it.
Have had this toaster and it is really not good.
I always like to read the comments for this sandwich maker because my experience always seems to be so different (:I I love mine and have never needed to cut away the crust to make it fit. The bread does need to be in a sideways orientation though (I use medium Hovis/Kingsmill). I use mine at least once a week either for a pizza toastie or waffles at the weekends.
Same price on Amazon
Bought one of these recently. They’re not very good. Takes ages to make the toastie and the crusts become very veryhard. Would certainly not recommend tho I also paid £34 quid for mine.

very good point, all of us suffer from the 'law of diminishing returns' ie when we get a new gadget we are gongho to try it out and use it and as we use it the thrill of using something new slowly subsides and then the new toy is just left on the shelf or put in a drawer, joining many others that had suffered the same ...i have a deep fryer 5yrs old i used everyday for a whole week some 5yrs ago and never since and it still next to the microwave on the kitchen top lol (lol)
That me having cheese and bean Toasties for suppa bout it last year not using it in a while think I payed 28 though still good at what it does
Not deep fill. Just a normal toastie maker, but the removable plates are handy. But £22 for a toasted sandwich maker? You can get them for a tenner
15 quid in Asda picked one up on Asda Cardiff bay yesterday
I have this one as do my daughters and son and we have had no problems with it. However, when I first got mine I had to get a replacement - I thought that both sides of the grill were supposed to lie flat, so I pushed it down and it snapped on the hinge. The instructions that I received said that it could be opened up fully but the company told me later that it was a printing error which would be amended. They were quite happy to send me a replacement one. One thing I'd mention is that there is a hook/catch on the side, but it is not supposed to be closed when in use - I was told that it was only to keep the press closed during storage. I got rid of my sandwich toaster - for a while I was using it but then decided to do toasted sandwiches in this sandwich press and they turn out ideal. I haven't tried using it as a grill yet though.
It was gifted a long time ago, stored then used when we moved house. Not worth the hassle tbh. I'm happy with my George Foreman grill that gets used on a regular basis without issue.
You should return or exchange.

Suggested RRP is ridiculous.... available at £19.99 at Wilkies and other places, but nowhere at the £49 RRP suggested. May be a good price here but how are they allowed to advertise such a wildly exagerated non-existent RRP?

Great for the recent wrap hack challenge (lol) I use my George Foreman grill to toast panini s
Lost me there I'm afraid, obviously on a different wavelength to me.
I disagree with all of what you say, please read the notes (y) My little girl made a toastie and agrees with me and completely disagrees with you. I'm more than happy to read YOUR review of the product, as I don't enjoy the criticisms of other community reviews who've spent the time giving THEIR opinion on the OP (y) I look forward to it (y)
I disagree with your comment not the OP, if you follow the instructions, you don't encounter half of those problems. The lead is ample for kitchen worktops which are usually 600mm deep. I haven't measured mine as it is ample for me, I hadn't even considered it until I saw your comment. When my son made his first one he hadn't read the instructions and he made a right mess of it, hence my question about the instructions.
There is a Salter one in Asda for £18

Laughable is it, lol? https://www.which.co.uk/news/2020/11/currys-pc-world-failing-customers-with-faulty-products-and-failed-deliveries/
Ignore him. Laughable argument against a reputable company. They had probably the best sales over Black Friday and Xmas compared to others. I remember the PS4 Pro vouchers they issued out a few years ago. No complaints from me.
Pretty common knowledge Amazon have better customer service than Currys whatever weak argument you happen to throw in my direction. I've had personal experience with Currys on Ebay and had to go through Ebay to get a refund as they lost the returned item. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/bills/article-8921791/amp/Currys-PC-World-faces-barrage-complaints-frustrated-customers.html This article was published a bit before Covid hit the UK so your comments about them going bust may well come to fruition. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/news/business/comment/dixons-carphone-currys-pc-world-electricals-mobile-phones-smart-speakers-tvs-brexit-high-street-retail-sales-figures-a9294241.html?amp I could keep going but some people believe what they want to.
I take reviews online with a pinch of salt, considering they can be manipulated. If majority of us consumers went by reviews alone, before making any purchase from Currys for instance, they should have gone bust by now; as most of their stock has negative reviews online. All the best.

We have the Salter 3 in 1, and have had it for almost 2 years. The plastic is still in tact, we use the panini plates regularly and do them one at a time, they cook quick enough so it works for us. The toastie/waffle plates don't get used that regularly but we've not had an issue with those either. So my experience is very different to yours.
Looks suspiciously similar to the Salter from a previous deal. Thats a piece of junk..the plastic bits break and it's impossible to find bread that fits.
The cuiseneart plates seem dishwasher proof too. No black mess all over my hands either .
Never mind the fastening clip - I found the handles were prone to shattering on these. Cheap though, ans work well while they last.
Asda toasties bread works great in mine
That’s the problem with cheap sandwich makers - I went through two or three until I paid a little more for the Breville and like day and night. Must be four years now used every week. My advice buy the Breville you won’t regret it!
And another vowel please, Rachel
So small its more like a 1 n half toaster

I've had to bastardize the clip on ours as it's a bit dodgy, it seals well though. We use ours a lot and other than the clip I'd recommend it
Yes, used to get told off by the wife for not cleaning well but now she's done it a few times she realises it's not my fault. It toasts well but there are flaws with the product as mentioned in some of the posts above.
I have this and love it also! Maybe I have to trim a bit of bread here and there (depending what loaf I've been substituted with this week) but I find I can squeeze a load of stuff in, cooks quickly enough and no messing about after, just whack the dirty plates into the dishwasher (once dusted crumbs off; I'm not a monster!)
I bought this a few months ago for £25 from Amazon to replace an aging really basic one. Been using it a fair bit over lockdown working from home lunches and I find you have to put the bread in landscape (if there is such a thing) and yes you may get a little bit of crust poking out but that us kind of the point as it is sealing your contents in. You then trim the crusts off. If it didn't do that your filling is spilling out the ends. So much better than my old one. Oh and the plates I am sure in the instructions should just be wiped down with a soapy cloth. That's all we do after each use look as good as new and still non stick.

Can someone recommend a sandwich toaster that takes full size bread? Google is useless as it's just coming up with a recommendations from sites, nothing to do with size of bread. Is it too much to ask manufacturers to create toasters that do this?
Cleaning the plates, fixed or detachable,on any sandwich maker is fine. Trouble is, if the contents leak, they leak all over the back of the unit and over the metal cable protector. A nightmare to clean, especially when cold. Chances are that once your sandwich is ready, you want to eat it while it’s hot rather than clean the unit first (especially if cheese and melted fat are all over it) and you end up coming back to contents welded to the casing and in every crevice when cool. Once they are easier to clean all over, I’ll buy one again
Same here, can't get slices big enough, just get a normal sized one.
I got one of these a while ago, I can't find bread big enough to fit it (annoyed)
Same price in Asda

Brought one and used yesterday for the first time. Definitely holds more filling than standard. Removable plates cleaned easy enough. Teflon is nice thick quality so it's very non stick. Everything comes off during cleaning. It's definitely a bargain for me and a good make. Interesting how the bread placement is 90 degrees (long side goes across) as per instructions.. So if this was overlooked, I could see it leaking and not fitting bread slices well. Made great toasties with no drama. Need to use supermarket own brand medium sliced as per instructions recommended bread for best results. Heat added
Plates are removable for cleaning but you'll still get cheese everywhere because they're so small. I always wonder why they don't seem to collaborate with bread makers to ensure they actually fit a slice of bread in them! Infuriating!
The plates are removable on these (and swappable if you get a set of waffle plates separately)
Do these have removable plates for easy cleaning. My wife hates our current one!
The clip on ours broke after a month or so and it seems a common problem with them, we've just got a normal sandwich press now that is better IMO
