Mymemory.co.uk selling 256gb u3 card for £27.99...

LOL - A memory pun

Why do these slow U1 cards always go so hot when there's U3 at the same price or cheaper? Brand snobs?

These were 16.99 on Amazon for over a month, 19 -20 quid is sort of regular price for these.

Bought from them before. They are good, shipping wasn't the fastest from memory though.

Thank you. I found loads of other Kingston ones, but not that one

link to 32gb card for £4.47 Its free delivery if you have amazon prime ( or if you spend over £20) otherwise there is postage on top . I would not risk buying from the other sellers on that page due to the risk of fakes - stick with amazon.

Do you have a link for that, as I can’t see it??

I didn't think there were many class 4 speed cards still around. Given that Amazon are selling Kingston Class 10 32Gb cards for under £4.50 , this does not seem a good deal

Ah the days when TDK ruled the world of storage

Are these actually 256GB? The last one I bought from here was an intergal one and it's pre formatted value was 250GB

is this good for a gopro?

Yep lifetime warranty will make a difference especially from a known trader so that it can be sent back if damaged

I got the Integral one a couple of weeks ago. The Integral one capacity & performance tested very well. I got an up to 91.3 read & 86.7 write in the Atto Benchmark & the h2testw confirmed the capacity. I think both cards probably came from the same stable but are badged by different retailers. The 5yr versus Lifetime is a marketing difference imo. I expect the MyMemory one to be just a good as the Integral card.

Maybe, but he's still correct to point out to those trying to correct him that it's not the same item.

I do understand what your saying. But it a bit like saying, take this mini. it's cheaper. you really need an estate to get the kids into but as it's a 1/4 of price of the estate, get 2 of them and you are sorted.. not really the point. this is for one 512gb card - not 2 x 256gb cards.

Hot :) Cheapest I've seen so far!

The votes will be because you can get 256Gb U3 cards for £27.99, not as convenient to have to buy two of those if you did need 500Gb but more cost effective

Interesting on the downvotes. Show me another 512gb for the same price..

I imagine most of their sales come from kids asking their non-techie parents for a memory card, parents doing a search and are a little confused, then they see the branding and the picture of Mario and plump for this one, "to be sure" it will be right.

In fairness, Microsoft and Sony have both released branded external hard drives, which also tend to be slightly more expensive

Perfect. I just bought an Amazon Fire HD and I want to jam that baby so full of books that it'll give birth to words.

Haha thanks. But I was just shocked at how much this tech has moved on. Just a few years ago the max you could go was 64GB

GB. It's at the top there.

400 what!?

Yes it is better value and the write speeds are considerably faster than the Sandisk (which isn't guaranteed to have write speeds fast enough for recording 4K video). If you don't need fast write speeds though and need a large amount of storage on a single card then this is probably the best value card of this size.

The U1 rating/C10 rating isn't ideal. 10MB/s write speeds are below what most cameras can achieve. You might struggle with 4K video on a U1 card. The Samsung card is £2-3 more but U3/V30 rated, and capable of nearly 90MB/s write speeds in the right setup. https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/samsung-128gb-micro-sdxc-card-uhs-3-2099-mymemory-2009-after-tcb-3158707

Cheapest I paid £19.99 my memory com

Sadly I don't think it's as simple as u1 bad -> u3 better. Manufactures don't treat the specs the same way and certain devices don't work as well with certain cards. The only way to really get an idea of card speeds is to look at benchmarks of each one. http://cameramemoryspeed.com has benchmarks on multiple cards in multiple devices. Not up to date, but gives you an idea of the complications!

Yes, roughly 'class 10 = u1 = v10' but the subtleties are this is minimum guaranteed speed and if you are recording and the bus speed slows down it stop recording, hence not ideal for 4k but great for full hd. The performance is generally better. I have a smaller version card and speed is very variable from a few megs to 60mb. U3 card is like class 30, would you not say u3 cards are better? My answer is probably, as it provides a minimum speed of 30 but the max speed maybe variable. It is more future proof as cards outlast electronics that are not made to last.

Apparently the switch bottlenecks anything higher than U1 anyway. So U1 is fine. I have a U3 256gb in my switch but only because it was cheap so didn’t want to pay more for a U1 when my U3 was cheaper :)

Thanks guys, for the post op and the feedback on this working fine with a Switch. Going to be ordering a Switch for our boys 7th birthday in a few weeks time! Might as well have all the necessary bits ready beforehand!

I got mine on saturday also at £18.99 they are posted from Switzerland.

Had you read their clearly stated delivery times BEFORE YOU ORDERED you would have seen delivery is 3-5 working days before you ordered. So you can look forward to getting your card by Tuesday. Worth the "short" wait bearing in mind it's FREE for peace of mind and also gives time to back up your old data (eg on Helium) if doing so.

Still waiting for mine as well even though website said delivery by Saturday!

I ordered from MyMemory on Tuesday, I'm still waiting for delivery. If I'd known it was going to take this long I'd of ordered from Amazon even at the higher price of £20.99.

That's what I paid too.Its £20.99 now but still best deal I can find currently . Only posted because deal listed on HUKD from Amazon is £20.99 but no TCB and to raise awareness of potential fakes

This's expired because there was a 10% glitch till today morning, you can still buy it for £27.99 or if you buy two different items you will get this price too. No idea about being so cheaper but IMO it's competition and Amazon fluctuates the price quite often. :)

Why has this been expired? Also, any idea why this is so radically cheaper than it is on Amazon? Almost a £50 saving!

Ok cool.thats not to bad then

I think 238-239gb would be the norm on a phone etc,my player maybe formatting differently, not too sure tbh.

Thanks for the info. Is that a typical usable amount for a 256gb card?
