Thanks for the info. we have it in the kitchen. This is something worth having the show for. When youtube was taken of the cards it became nearly useless. Yes I can watch a amazon movie but who wants to wacth a small screen for an hour and a half. We ended up using it for music and weather.

TylerDurdenUK

Its in a different league to the Joggler

pb-live

The Echo Spot is more of a clock with added functions, this Echo Show is more of a multimedia device that prevents you having to have a tablet around all the time, espcially useful in the kitchen.

pb-live

Got one in the kitchen, useful for watching the news updates, music, cooking videos and occasional tv show as well as talking to someone upstairs on the other Show that I've got in our bedroom or the Spot that my kids have in their room. It really depends what you want out of it but to make the most from it you really need Prime and possibly the Music subscription (though the 'free' one with Prime has a fair few songs and albums)

Sharpharp

Will this end up like the legendary Joggler? i.e. a digital clock ?

Back in stock now

rfu3

I rang today to check when stock was due and the representative questioned whether the total price was £260 and I said no, £179.xx. I was put on hold and when he returned said that should be back in stock in 7-10 days and then they will call to arrange delivery. Apart from the price being full price on some of the emails and being charged £129 on my credit card I have not had any reason to believe there is an error in pricing. I'm hoping the incorrect £260 price is just the result of the low stock.

Cas7785

Mine were cancelled by JL and when contacted they told my that PayPal refused the payment, I contacted them again to say that I found this highly unlikely and would they still honour the deal as I wasn’t contacted for different payment methods etc, I got a curt response saying no they wouldn’t as the offer had been taken off the site...........funny how in neither emails did they mention that they had messed up on the price !

rossgetty

My 2nd came today, strange how it showed as no stock but as soon as I rang about it the 2nd was dispatched immediately.

beatchuk

I’ve had one arrive and have been charged £129.99. I will see what happens when the next one arrives but my guess is they will charge me £129.99. They don’t have a leg to stand on. The order said £179.99 on the confirmation screen so once it comes will contact them for a refund. If they mess around then will get them on credit card chargeback.

Mine had the same issue. I got in touch with Amazon support and they swapped it out without any issues.

dwl99

I have a couple that run Android 4.0 from a USB drive, they are quite handy for Spotify, Squeezeplay, Amazon Music etc. The main drawback is the lack of a video driver so I use them just for audio stuff.

jouster

Do you still use them for anything. They had such potential back in the day.

dwl99

I still have a collection of Jogglers!

jouster

I’ll get some stuff done. Reminds me of the O2 Joggler. The hack for that made it a great device for its time andnin truth things haven’t moved on that much really. And that was 7-8 years ago

why would I make that up? Is there a need to reply to a comment in that tone, try and play nice just because its a Frankie Boyle thread doesnt mean you need to be a.... like him.

narstar

I thought as much but didn't want to be presumptuous lol.

termite

Thanks for making that up for us.

eslick

went to see him back when he was doing mock the week and on the back dvds and was shocked by the actual contents of the show, there was deadly silence through out most of the show except a group of teenagers laughing at the top of their voices. It was the worst show we have ever been to and to make it worse we were told at the beginning of the show we weren't allowed to leave except in the event of an emergency didnt stop many of us walking out.

DealJourno

Improving content for everyone maybe and caring about high standards? I refuse to use predictive text. I would rather make a mistake and learn from it. If someone has dyslexia or similar like not being a native English writer then spelling errors are understandable. There's nothing wrong with correcting something. It really depends on how you do it in my opinion.

Ha tell me about it! I’m up to 1 show, 2 spots and a kindle with Alexa built in. It’s worse than the Sonos bug. Thankfully it’s cheaper.

jouster

Oh totally agree. But add a Dot into the mix (I’ve got 8 echo devices in total) and you’ve got the best of both worlds.

foggy

I’ve had Sonos speakers for quite a while from the 1,3,5 and even the playbar plus sub so yes it doesn’t touch the 1 for sound but I paid just over half the price of a 1 and it does other stuff on top hence why I think it’s good value.

jouster

Personally for me, the speakers lack clout of even the lowest in the Sonos range (which have throughout my house) but that’s not to say they aren’t good in their own right. Everyone I know that has purely Echo speakers is very happy

jouster

I think if you can’t think of a reason to get one then you really don’t need one. Serious FOMO nowadays with new gadgets and so many buy because others have or just because they think they should. They then spend hundred more to justify a purchase. At the end of the day if you think you’ll use one, go for it but play the long game. If you don’t then watch out for the next big thing.

I used to do this when I lived in London before. A good free night out. Saw Question of Sport, a couple of comedy shows and even Top of the Pops at one time. But this is only really for Londeners. There is also LostInTV and the BBC have their own audience website. Check them out. Popular shows often have waiting lists but there is so much filler TV now a days there is always something.

This information wasn't included in the original post. You still have to click to find out where the Business Show actually is. London's a big place. Note that even you've had to google 'Excel London', not just 'London'. 'London' alone is not enough information. The original post does not include enough information to avoid someone needed to click the link to find out where it's located.

makxii444

You still have to click to find out where it's actually located. The location (as in the venue) should be included in the post. Just saying London is not enough information or you wouldn't have people asking where it's located...

Get dealGet deal
jouster

yes you can watch amazon prime video on it...and even if video calling s not available in Gemrany...you could set the location of the dvevice to UK to get around it

TiscaliSurvivor

2 questions - can you watch amazon prime videos on it? Can you set one up in Germany and have video chats with the Uk or will it block chats not in the Uk?

jouster

To some but not most. Check out the heat of the deal. Amazon knows this hence dropping the price in a short space of time themselves. When the Google version comes out the price will drop even more My main argument is that most people do not want all of those things. They want some of those things and for that the 40 device is more than adequate and that’s why the Dot is the best selling Alexa device.

fulous

The gist of the post was to highlight popular functionality (not to say the echo show should replace your cameras etc) esp to help others on here... For intercom mode, other echo devices do not show you the video of the caller/visitor at the door... Alexa for business is bringing video conferencing... Like I said, some features may require technical skills or one may have to way for them to become mainstream... £140 may be step, but what i disagreed with was your statement "it doesn’t do much that a device costing £40 doesn’t do" If you are to buy those devices separately (echo dot & tablet ) you may have to pay much more than £140, certainly more than £40 So, yeah, i agree its currently expnsive, but worth more than the £40 that you suggested...

jouster

The sound quality is on another level but it does get expensive when you add more and more speakers.

This isn't a theme park like Flamingo land it more comparable to York Maze This is the biggest discount I've seen them offer. A full day out and circus for a family of 4 for £33.80 is fantastic value

grinnaslee

expensive, flamingo land is a better choice.

myusernamehasgone234

There's so much to do. Its easy to fill a full day here if the weather is dry, and you can picnic on the grass. One of Yorkshires best family attractions I think during the Spring/Summer. (Gets too pricey in the winter and busy)
