Something to be aware of - I recently bought a bin and toilet brush bundle from Argos. Bin is 8L and it's tiny. You'll struggle to find a pedel bin liner small enough to fit/it will fill really fast. We're going to chuck ours out and buy one that's a more conventional size.

Is this a good price? What’s the normal price thanks op

I bought a dual Simple Human bin a year or so ago (normal rubbish in one side and recycling the other) although think I got it for around £90 looking around. They are very good quality and wanted something that looks decent when we had spent thousands on a new kitchen, but each to their own. Also I'd expect more come-back if it broke within 5 years compared to a bin I'd spent £30 on.

stkrup

I had three sensor bins replaced within 3 month, got pedal one and never look back, don't buy any sensor crap

ShazzyN

Hi, which ones are those? Thanks

haGGard

No I mean a regular bin liner wont fit around the lip of the top. Shame as the bin itself is well made, the pedal mechanism especially is strong (usually a weak point in pedal bins) but I'm didn't realise I had to buy specific bags in size 'K' iirc, so I returned it and bought a regular 30l cylinder pedal bin

Dejaque

Do you mean for the narrow bit at the bottom? Could you not use 50 L bags instead. Was thinking about getitng one of these but not if it means buying expensive bags

haGGard

Had this bin but returned it 2 days later. While it is well made and very functional, they make their money by charging you more than necessary on the bin liners which are tailor made for the shape of this bin. Regular liners wont fit.

morrig

Why just a recycle bin had ours for a year in kitchen for rubbish, use Icelands purple bags 20 for a pound.

I always wait for someone to exit or enter and then use my feet to keep the door open. Another way is grab some tissue and use it to open the door. I never touch the handle. Seen too many people not wash their hands after using the toilet.

I don't think most users on HUKD will give heat to a bin that costs more than £50. That being said, I've been eyeing a 50L bin from Simplehuman for quite a while as they have some great quality products, but I still think anything more than £100 is really pushing it. Had a smaller bin before that forced me to replace its bag every two days or so as it filled up so quickly. Was also a pain to keep clean and even wash because it was so easy to get it messy when you disposed of waste. Waited a couple of weeks for a Very Good or Like New condition under Amazon Warehouse deals and I found one for £80. Very happy with my purchase. Bag lasts for 3 or 4 days now since the bin actually makes use of the bigger sized bags I used to buy. Just the shape and look I wanted for the kitchen and it has a plastic interior bin for easy cleaning should there ever be any leakage or anything. Anyway, not posting this to convince anyone as I'm sure it's a matter of personal preference, but just wanted to share my experience. Amazon Warehouse deals are probably the way to go. Dunelm also had some deals on some of these recently but I thought I'd wait to see if I could get it cheaper and it paid off.

Dragon32

I bought one of these a while back for our new kitchen (although paid a fair bit less on Amazon, but think it was still £120). You won't believe how much this bin has changed our lives and could not live without it. My wife has even given me the ultimatum of "it's me or the bin". Honestly though it's a good bin, looks good, has the ideal storage capacity for us and very well built.

I don't think people are really fussed about the brand of their bin. They just want a certain style, size and colour. So for that reason I put the alternative cheaper version.

nathzz

Bit of a daft comment really. People that want a simple human bin will want a simple human bin not a bribantia one. Make your own hukd

Hence why I said similar one.

It’s also bribantia - not simple human???

From my own experience I think they are poor quality for the price. If you buy, save your Amazon receipt, mark your calendar for when 5 year SimpleHuman warranty expires. I’ve had 3 replacements during that period. Wire rack: rust. Sides: rust, protective layer peeling off. Feet: crack in plastic surrounding support hole, protective layer peeling off Wine glass rack: protective layer peeling off. Reviews mention same problems: https://www2.simplehuman.com/uk/steel-frame-dishrack-with-wine-glass-holder-fingerprint-proof-stainless-steel-grey sort by lowest rating first. You don’t get the bamboo knife holder insert mentioned in the Amazon description anymore. Used to have two rows for plates, now only one.

Currently have two of their bins, lid spring broke and motor replaced. Soap dispenser, chromed plastic coating came off. Shower dispenser, handle broke (replacement ismetal instead of plastic) Dish rack, rust (replaced 3 times). So, I just keep getting free replacements or parts from them under their 5 year warrenty. Appears as if this is more profitable for the company than making them properly in the first place.
