The price seems to have gone up, I clicked "get deal" link but the price showing is over £400!

DO NOT BUY FROM APPLIANCES DIRECT!!!!!!! Delivered me a washing machine with a HUGE dent in it but didn’t notice at the time. They would not collect it and I had to pay to return it, £150 to return a dented machine. BEWARE unless you live near their shop........

Hinges look okay as far as I can see, but worth knowing :) Just shoddily manufactured, I think. I'm on my third, as far as I can remember! And they are usually around £20 a pop so it adds up...

Keep an eye out for a Bosch which come up at that price from time to time or save your money and buy a Beko.

We had one of these, really poor. Uneven cooking, hard to clean, and lots of smoke when using the grill. Binned after two two years and bought a Neff. Miles better.

As above, we had SMEG stuff in a new-build house and had problems with several appliances that weren't all fixed under warranty. I would recommend a different brand

Smeg have built a reputation on design which in my experience isn’t matched by build quality. AEG hasn’t thrown up any surprises so far.:{

Buy at your peril. I've been domesticated for 25+ years and the Smeg cooker I've had - with me thinking I was buying "quality", is the worst I've ever owned. Three door seals (done it myself), thermocouple on one hob gone, oven element died (repaired that myself too) - and I'm here on my own most of the time and use the microwave most! It has been a total disaster and I couldn't recommend their appliances. Do some research before buying, it's not just me.

That's a interesting design choice but some people will like it as it hides the typical washing machine front

Had a stoves gas oven and would say yes, electric is a dryer heat if that makes sense making cooking say roast potatoes tastie? .Electric ones are a hassle cleaning them with the fan and element problem areas.

Don't do it, people! The Smeg cooker I have is the worst I've ever bought. I've had a bottom of the range Indesit and a middling New World. Both worked fine and had plenty of life in them when I sold them on. This thing, one of the gas hobs failed after a few months, the element in the oven died (fixed that myself), the oven door seal keeps falling off (on my third). Not sure how Smeg have acquired any sort of reputation, my experience of them is terrible.

I've had mine for two years and a month. The fifth time I used it, I couldn't close the door. The woman on the phone at Smeg customer services told me to crawl inside the machine to identify the faulty component, and Currys said they don't do repairs. (skeptical)Clearly something was dislodged, but it went back in after a bit of jiggling. Some flimsy plastic bits have broken off, or come off and won't go back. After a year, the top basket came off its runners, but I replaced the broken part that keeps them in place - thanks eBay. The cutlery basket is a small, unusable joke, unless you have a three-year-old who enjoys the challenge of construction toys, who can fill it for you, so I'm using the basket from my last machine. It washes better than it dries, and the cutlery basket is either inside the machine, or on the radiator to dry the contents. Will I buy another Smeg product? Lemme think! Cold day in hell? :D Edit: forgot to mention - it froze to death in the snow the other week. My AEG washing machine is 20 years old, and has survived two big freezes, and my SMEG dishwasher didn't survive one. I suppose Sweden doesn't expect cold winters.

These are available for £195 from Appliance Depott. They're end-of-line or graded, or perhaps have minor case damage. If it's going between cupboards, who cares if it has a scratch on the side?

Well on the walls - not at all well on the shelves and racks, as they have to be removed (if anything like mine).

A bit like a crematoria then. Had a Smeg hob in last house it had six knobs in that you had full control of central hob burner and main wok burner was made of phosphor bronze, lovely when polished. When doing next kitchen try and get same model, love for Smeg rant over. Back to oven, good price best price elsewhere is around £600 and except for one review 5 star.

... everyone's' comments has gotten me worried about my purchase now... :S I always thought Smeg made good products - well, for their classic style fridges/fridge-freezers anyway. Well, fingers crossed! Otherwise we'll be doing a lot more hand washing if it breaks down...

Can't comment on the specific dishwasher but having just had a new kitchen fitted, pretty much everyone (designers, fitters, electricians, plumbers) was of the opinion that you should avoid Smeg because the quality is rubbish.

Sounds like our AEG, First flooded the kitchen so got replaced with a "Newer" model. But both are rubbish. In-law's Beko is much better and about 1/2 the price.

By junk, I mean the pots come out dirty and wet even on the toughest cycle. Can't wash, can't dry, can't even open the door in its own space (had to cut down plinth)

don't do it. we bought a smeg from curry's and it's absolute junk. We had a smeg at the last house which was great but Curry's stock custom models which are misleading numbered to draw comparison with the better spec proper ones. Ours came with a 5 year warranty, which is a waste of time as I'm counting the days for it to break and buy a proper one. Mine is integrated, so not the same one but chances are they are pulling the same scam.

Interested ..... How old is the fridge and has it had much use ? , also can you tell me if there is any damage to the door or interior compartments ? - I like my fridge to look the part as well as be reliable for the family home.

They're awesome. We have a falcon gas hob/leccy oven range thats been going for 12 years without a single hiccup.

I think times are changing, some Michelin restaurants are now using induction over gas. Maybe it's just the Chefs with copper pots that are reluctant to ditch the gas

Most Chefs will still take Gas all day over an Induction cooker.

Have to agree with louiselouise. My parents thought they'd invest in a 'top of the range' cooker and got a Smeg. Had multiple issues since ownership. The digital clock / timer went and the repair cost was as much as new cooker. Avoid. Style over subsance.
