Have you played swbf2.recently?... sure they messed up the micro transactions... that’s fine now and the game is pretty good. Squadrons doesn’t have any micro transactions. https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-06-20-star-wars-squadrons-doesnt-have-microtransactions-isnt-a-live-service-game

SteQ

After what they did to SWBF2 i am staying well clear of this until the reviews are out.

dreamager

Also it's £29.99 on Steam at the mo for people who distrust Origin directly (even though it'll still be Origin) with the current £5 of £30 spend (if not already used)

dreamager

As far as I know it shouldn't matter if it's on Origin or Steam for VR. The game will just launch the SteamVR program and wouldn't need Steam running, as it's an independent runtime tied to the games. My Trover on Origin does that.

fleischyy

The lack of VR confirmation for any platform other than Steam, is making me not preorder this - stonking price.

I dont think it was a pricing error. I can see this going already for about £25 on physical and i heard that it didnt really cost much to develop. Probably stripped from battlefront 2. Was probably a promotion to garner interest. Sadly i missed it too but i can see this dropping back to the same price very soon. They always do

joeydeacon

Thanks for the heads up, glad I purchased when I did - looks like a pricing error.

Markpw

Yeah let me go aheadand register for a turkish psn with afake address ro save a few quid..nice

Typical, spent the last couple of days trying to sort out a problem with Revolut, and when I finally get sorted it goes up in price!!

Pre order = paying for a promise. Do not pay for anything until you've seen the final real word result.

ripkord

Usually when they have enough evidence

Kai_Kinder

There are NO micro transactions. Either everyone grinds or no one does, there's no pay wall shortcuts. https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-06-20-star-wars-squadrons-doesnt-have-microtransactions-isnt-a-live-service-game

Aerobiz

Battlefront 2 was a major grind to unlock stuff without paying. But I fully enjoyed it. It kept me playing. But yeah, that situation can arise when you offer people the opportunity to skip ahead with purchases and loot boxes etc. For everyone that complains about it, there seems to be 10 that will pay to get ahead.

whatsthematter

Hope I'm wrong, but when that was said on the trailer, I immediately thought "bet it will be a real grind to unlock them though". I don't play any MP, so don't know how other games deal with this, but if the extra weapons can be bought, aren't people that don't buy them at a disadvantage until they completed the grind?

I don't mind comfort settings as long as they aren't all activated by default (and aren't the only option!). I can remember a load of people thinking Doom VFR was pants because they thought it only had teleport movement.

bleachedsmiles

Yeah I've lost all sympathy. I just think, we're 4 years on and still some games force comfort settings on us all because of the vocal minority (and always get backlash for it from the majority of the vr community), if you can't handle vr by now then accept it and move on... Don't keep trying to put off others from vr who will probably have no problems with it. I didn't pick up vr for the first year because I was under the impression I'd spend a load of money to projectil vomit... Managed to get a go for free and i was fine and had been missing out.

copperspock

Not by the looks of it. This seems to be less arcadey and of course has a focus on 5 v 5 battles. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen comments that are something along the lines of 'you will get sick playing this', as if everyone has the same tolerances.

aturner123

Fully customizable ship = make your ship pink and put a star wars related logo on it. Make your mark.

pedro100

If the battlefront vr extra is anything to go by bearing in mind that's 4 years old this should be epic. We know how good London heist on vr was and spawned blood and truth...finger crossed

Yeah it looks promising but not a fan of 180 degrees space skidding! Thanks a lot Poe!

scottbcw

Jackfrags has gameplay from EA Play the force is strong with this one!!

Mojomaster1979

Oooooh I didn't know about that. Thanks for the heads up!

gb1999

I hope all you X-Wing fans are keeping track of XWVM - it’s a fan made modernised version of the original X-Wing. It looks stunning and includes VR <3

Mojomaster1979

Loved them all to be fair, even Prophecy! Ahhh a golden age, I miss it :( The X-Wing games are great. All for different reasons. X-Wing was a real wow moment, TIE Fighter had a great story, and Alliance is my personal favourite.

So torn with this game. As much as I want to believe this is the next Xwing Vs Tie there are so many factors that are throwing me off it eg, How can a Tie Fighter kill an x-wing with full shields 3 or 4 hits max. Some ties get shot from a really far distance too, with no intense chase shown Also, the Fleet battle mode having 3 stages suggests it may be a respawning mushfest game rather than just 5 individual ships Having a support ship class can pick sending health shields to things like Imperial Shuttles also suggests a respawn option again where able to flip between different ships The frequent K-Turns are way overused in the video too - so may consist of everyone constantly flipping back and forth in k-turns At least they confirmed the HUD was removed for the trailer

DrFab

Understandable, however Jedi Fallen Order was very cheap when it was announced. As soon as reviews came out the price shot up very quickly! As a fan of the original XWing and Tie Fighter series I'm interested. Heck at least it is not based around the new sequels!!

Mojomaster1979

BF1 and 2 were good. Fallen Order was good. They had a calamitous launch with BF2 - they have seemingly learned from that. My only criticism of them is that they haven't released enough games. This is no 90's golden era of Lucasarts, but I wouldn't say they have been as bad as people like to make out.

Laskha

EA: Available via microtransaction Hope the single player is more than a token collection of missions, and that it channels the TieFighter, XW vs Tie spirit...but it's EA and their track record with the franchise is as bad as Disneys.

jaytarr

they are gonna show gameplay for this on thursday at their EA conference
