As far as I'm aware, the Amazon Basic batteries are generally considered to be previous generation Eneloop's if I remember correctly and very highly regarded. I'd recommend these over anything else except Eneloop's and definitely over cheap no/low brand alternatives.

Eneloop are made in the FDK factory in Japan. There is only one Low Self Discharge NiMh battery factory in japan - FDK. So if a product is advertised as "Low Self Discharge" (LSD) NiMh and "made in Japan" then they all come from the same factory. This includes Eneloop, Eneloop Pro, Energizer, Fujitsu, IKEA and Amazon Basics amongst others. They are probably all the same product but "binned" according to performance with the more expensive brands getting the better batteries. Lidl Tronic are not made in Japan and are not from FDK.

They've dropped off the Lidl website as usual, but they got some in a week or two ago I think so it's certainly worth a look.

Cheers. We seem to have a battery eating monster in our house so these should keep them fed for a while.

The IKEA Ladda are reported to be.

I’m confused - manufacturer refurbished would mean MS would have done it?!

Why would it? It would read manufacturer refurbished, and I highly doubt MS sell parts.

Grab a few of these and return if necessary. Nothing to lose but a bit of time should things not be up to standard.

Lol I did the same, it didn't work for me either maybe there is another way. Also I wonder if we can also get a graduation ceremony booked in as well on completion of the course.

Bump. John, I just signed up for a free course at the university of Derby and it hasn't given me a uni email address. I can fire email addresses from their browser/my account there, but they're coming from my home email address. Do you have a work around/know somewhere that does have uni email addresses? Thanks

Agreed it's overpriced for what it is, but, it's the best price available and cheaper than normal?

STILL overpriced.

They charge the UK more than ANY other nation on the planet for no good reason. It is a digital platform...and is sent from the same server as the US version.

Cheers! If only I was still a student, eh?!

If your a student, u can get Student Prime membership free for six months and then it's £39 a year!

Just paid £99, what's the deal with 'student prime'? I have standard...

It's wider than would typically be used for portraiture - this is the equivalent of a 40mm on a full-frame camera.

Once you get past the fact that it looks like you've forgotten to put a lens on when using it, it's a great little lens. Minimum focusing distance is tiny as well, so you can get incredibly close to things.

I will edit... I have some seen some used OPs advertised as locked to O2. I don't know whether that is the case or not, hence asking the question in the first place.

Why post such nonsense when It's impossible to lock an OP6 to any UK mobile network.

I joined 30th October, and scanned my bonus card whilst using my student card for discount, and registered it the same day online. I still didn't get an email, I'm assuming I perhaps had to use it again once registered, during October, for it to register the discount for November. I'll contact them and check. Shame if it hasn't worked, my student status runs out in mid January - last opportunity for some savings.

A customer that used it in October

So if I join the bonus card now do I get the discount or does it have to be existing customer that used the discount in October?

For this certain deal, this was a qualifying period that ended on 31st October, during which you had to show a student card along with using a bonus card. This offer has been activated for the month of November on the bonus card that was used...

How do I get this? Do i show them my NUS ID when applying for the Bonus card?

Got mines. The pads are in good condition. Was hoping for a usb wire with them. ;(

I don't think I've argued that people break them on purpose... The controller is designed to be used by both wired and wireless, otherwise there wouldn't be a wired connector there (see Microsoft's guide for using it on a PC).

People do not break these on purpose, the proof is there. If you want to promote buying broken products for a cheap price, then that is fine. Everything has a price I suppose, however for me it is not a good buy. It is just a cheap buy, you are getting what you're paying for (nothing more). This is designed to be a wireless controller, which this product no longer is. So it is broken.. How they have soo many broken controllers with the same issue is the question? I've never heard of the wireless part of the controller breaking....

I see that it's your own experience, but having two break in the same way by the same children isn't really much evidence. Either way, having a cable in that you don't need to unplug is not going to be as bad as one you do unplug. They're really not renowned for this, as my point with millions of mobile devices, and it being designed as an improvement over mini-USB. You'll find tons of search results on pretty much anything possible when it's used by tens of millions of people, it doesn't mean it's common. Those people that encounter faults are going to be far more vocal than those that don't.

It's not nonsense at all, I have had 2 official controllers charging ports break. These are not even used daily, they are just used by children. So if they can break as easily as that, then a controller that would have to be used solely by that port would have a much higher chance of breaking. Which if that happened on these, they would be absolutely useless. I had to buy the charging dock that has the battery charger on the back of the battery packs, this was the only way to continue to use the said controllers (either that or use rechargeable batteries). As the official plug and charge kits use that particular port. Neither of those options would be available if there was no wireless facility, as your only option is to use a cable via the micro USB port. Micro USB cables are renown for breaking both the cable and the charging port. Search Xbox controller broken charging port on Google, you'll find tons of results. My point is completely from my own experience. If that port dies on one of these, then you have a paperweight shaped like a controller.
