Shame you can’t buy a ‘pro’ quality swingball and not this plastic rubbish. I’d buy that in a heartbeat
It’s not too bad - having a plastic base that you with water or sand is better than making a hole in the ground. But this makes it really cumbersome to move all the time, so it inevitably stays put away. And yes, the plastic spiral at the top is not as good. That said, my kids know no different and generally enjoy it.
They are poor quality. Bought it last year from aldi and kids only used it for couple of months and then rubbish. Every bit of this is poorly made and cheap plastic.
Because they're cheap.

Ok got rid of the sand and filled with water and yes indeed it works much better now so thank you for replying (y)
Maybe I’ll try water and see how that works out.
Filled mine with water and used the spiral top with the stable base. Just as good as the original. Tried it with the wobbly base and the spinney top and seems to be working fine for me.
Well as I’m off and the weathers nice thought I’d set this up. Well what a waste of £10.99 that was Lol Filled the base with some sand but the ball is just not heavy enough to so you can return hit it. As soon as the base has a slight tilt the ball just loses momentum and drops.
I rest my case

Terribly quality, flimsy plastic, simply put a terrible swingball... Don't waste yer money The new mechanism at the top is utterly useless. Paid 19.99 for ours but lost the receipt so couldn't return it.
We bought one a few weeks ago but returned it as the quality was pretty poor. The segmented plastic pole was really flimsy and would never have stood up to many a Swingball game. I think you were wise buying the original.

Swingball is certainly not what it once was! Base couldn't stabilize a cocktail stick, poles bend if you look at them funny and one hit of the ball (there is never a second hit) and the string on the corkscrew part just falls from top to bottom. And just when you thought it couldn't get worse and pack it away, they have cleverly designed the base so that it's impossible to get all the parts back in and the lid on!
£29.99 for me
I saw this at a friend's house and thought the quality was dreadful
Ordered thanks good deal 😁
My granddaughter loves this and it's now in its 3rd year.
