You have done really well there! Totally agree with you about the Skye and Storm
Defo the 10 mate, it was during Asda's big discounts a couple of weeks ago so a bit of a result. I wouldn't touch the Skye and Storm is only ok for me.
Molesy I would check the bottle if I were you, Skye and storm are often sold on offer for £25. These as stated are NAS whiskies, normally 3yrs old. If you got a 10yr old talisker for £25 well done, you have had a cracking deal!
Talisker 10 used to be a staple in most supermarkets although quite rare now. Has been replaced with NAS whiskies like skye and storm. you will find a lot of age statement whiskies are being phased out from supermarkets and replaced with wonderful sounding names rather than age statements, talisker being a perfect example. This is due to supply and demand, not to mention both the distillery and the supermarket maximising profits. After all why sell a whisky that takes 10 years to produce when you can sell a 3 year old whisky for the same price to unsuspecting customers. The age statement whiskies generally speaking are more complex and have greater depth to them although the initial taste may be similar! i am not saying you won’t see a talisker 10 in a supermarket but no longer common place. If you see it for less than £30 it’s a good deal. It is normally around the £40-£45 mark.
You would think so. We do get a lot of the Arran Whisky though as I'm about half an hours drive from the Ferry. When I lived in Manchester the choice was much better. I have no idea why.
