https://www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk/coronavirus For tickets purchased from our website, mobile site or app (with the exception of Season tickets), we are waiving the usual £10 charge and all refunds are now processed free of charge. Advance train tickets bought before 07:00 on Monday 23 March are eligible for a refund providing they have not been used. It does state you should get a refund

Delbert.Grady

Anyone else finding that Train operators are ignoring the Governments Emergency Rules regarding refunds for Advance Tickets? Last week I requested a refund for 2 Advance tickets for last Monday from Crosscountry Trains, that I purchased ages ago. They've just responded to say I can only have a refund if I buy 2 new tickets for some date in the future, then they will process the refund. Thats not what the rules say, and in any case, even if I did buy new tickets do I trust them to refund the old ones now that the travel date has passed? No, I'd probably just be throwing good money after bad.

Lincoln559

Does anyone know if it is possible to get refunds on railcards please (e.g. the disabled card or senior rail card) while it is not possible to use them?

Jonwillis

https://www.c2c-online.co.uk/media-centre/latest-news/coronavirus-refunds/ Please note that in line with our Passenger Charter, the price of an annual season ticket offers significant savings because it offers 52 weeks of travel for the price of 40 weeks. This means that if it is more than 40 weeks since your annual season ticket started, your ticket no longer holds any refund value. You therefore will not receive any money back if you apply for any refund.

Those who had booked a return trip with TrainLine can you please confirm if you were charged 2% off your refund? We received a refund but we're charged a 2% fee.

Don't bother. Not tracked and hassle getting it sorted.

premierfella

I'm surprised they didn't just point to "...amend these terms without notice..." and "withdraw this offer at any time". Or point 10 in the terms on the link to their website for more general terms relating to Nectar: Website Avanti West Coast reserves the right to: At any time, withdraw Nectar points that were awarded in the case of fraudulent activity or in error. Delay or refuse issuing Nectar points. Amend these terms at any time Hard to think of how much more they could have written into their terms to permit them to reject every claim for Nectar points whenever they feel like it, which is good enough reason to avoid them IMO. Unless a query to Nectar helpdesk would get your points sorted without grief in the event they don't come through automatically.

andiron87

trying some of the previous similar offers - none of them tracked, then spent hours complaining on the chat - who instead of helping is looking for issues why not to give you points, they will highlight non-existing requirements like wrong train, wrong type of ticket, wrong dates, too low amount, and in the end copy of the offer is required for them to proceed with the goodwill points - after multiple chats where some of them ended by saying the points will be with you in the next 30 days - only to come back within 30 days to complain again :-) hard pass

No but the train only runs on summer Saturdays so if you didn't come back the same day you'd have to wait until the following Saturday to get this price, or pay the normal fare, which is a lot more. Also, its £12.50 each way, its not a return ticket, in case you didn't realise.

shanraja

Do you have to return on the same date to get that price ?

meuswills

I live in Tenby and on Saturdays in the summer i see the London high speed train arrive in the morning suggesting to me that there are no changes to the local small trains so yes first class all the way

Is it possible to get one-way fares for £29 or is that price only valid if it's part of a return trip? Also, have the cheaper fares been applicable to the end of July yet? I have my eye on a one-way trip at the end of July and the cheapest tickets are currently £57 each one-way - not sure whether to purchase or wait and see if any promotions come along?

Think So. Might ask in my local station Brighton but normally they say the pass is your ticket and let you through the gates.

tek-monkey

So they think it's still valid?

Southerndealfinder

Got this from Interrail today Thank you for contacting the Interrail.eu customer service team. You can use your Interrail Global Pass in your own country during two travel days of your choice. For instance, one outbound trip (leaving your own country) and one inbound trip (entering your own country). You can take as many trains in your own country as necessary. I suggest you read the information on this page carefully, where you can see how this works. I trust this answers your question. We hope you have a great day! Best regards, Suzane Customer service team Interrail.eu

tek-monkey

Interestingly the UK won't sell it because it 'competes' with another package they sell that UK residents can't buy! EDIT: It says it isn't brexit related but is an obvious comparison, we used to be joined now they all still are but we are on our own. I have no idea how many people used these passes to visit the UK while touring the EU but I suspect most won't bother if extra charges apply whereas all the other countries are included.

Sam_The_Red

I worked there til a couple of yrs ago, and sometimes the flights were excellent, but had so many late departures and long queues at passport, I would've loved to get the train! I still go a few times a year, (next one is March 12th, staying at NH Collection-thought I'd treat the Missus! ;) ) but this time on the cruise from Hull-defo worth a look. We alternative tween flights and cruise, and now will throw train in the mix. As for tripping, if you're there March give me a shout, I'll show you sum hidden gems 😜

wanderer

Nope not tripping that's later pmsl Travel light backpacks small enough for hand luggage and bin the clothes day by day Last flight in January left 25mins late and still landed on time (good tail wind pilot said) Check in online then at amsterdam straight to the quick pay machines grab the ticket and down to the trains and grab the express (lucky timing), hotel is 10min walk (hotel library) I go every year and have got it down to a tee

Sam_The_Red

Think you're tripping Mate! Get to the airport at least an hour before departure-you have no idea how long it'll take to get thru security, so allow 2hrs! Spend at least an hour kicking your heels in departure loung, hoping you can find a seat! Having to be one of the first on the plane to get your trolley Dolly case in! Waiting after you land for everyone else in front of you to get their bags down from the overhead compartments. Hoping you don't land same time as a 787 with 500 plus other people queuing for passport control! Or.... check in 30mins before your train departure, and sit back chilling for 4hrs, get off and walk to the RLD!

None of the stations in Burnley appear to have a help point, which is surprising. There's probably a notice with a phone number to call for help. Not necessarily easy to see at 11PM though. In your situation I'm sure most train companies would have refunded what you paid for the taxi, but if doesn't surprise me if Northern didn't, they're not good at things like that. Threatening to go to the local paper with your story might have helped.

pwel

Burnley to Manchester Airport. I'm not aware of any help point. There are just the ticket machines.

Dealier

Which station was it? Most stations have help points, where you can press a button and get connected to the train company. If you'd used that you would probably have got better results. Train drivers and police won't know the procedures in that situation, but the train company would have been able to organise a taxi.

pwel

The last train to the airport was about at 11:00pm and the station's desk closing at 10:00...the only people on the platform when my train cancelled was the train driver and police...when I asked them what I'm supposed to do in order not to miss my flight at 05:00 in the morning, the reply was "sorry mate, we cannot help you, better get a taxi"...

Ah thanks for the info! I'll copy into description if I can update it, first time posting! I searched for Train deals but nothing came up!

Dealier

This is the GWR sale. There's a deal for it here: https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/gwr-hidden-january-sale-at-gwrcom-3388240 It's cheaper to buy them directly from GWR, because you don't pay a fee, and you also get Nectar points. You should never buy from Trainline unless you're happy to pay more than you need to. For example, I went to GWR's website and the same £15 each way tickets are available, so it comes to £30, not £30.75, plus you get 60 nectar points, which are worth at least 30p.
