Just ordered one for son who is 16 today thanks

DealsIUsed

Well, at least you can use the 16-25 railcard until you get to use the new railcard in September. Although, if you got a 3 year one, I’d recommend putting it away somewhere until she turns 18 and fish it out then. :)

NickNick

Thanks, I'd just bought our 16 year old daughter the 16-25 Railcard but fares will be much cheaper with one of these. Don't fancy my chances of getting the railcard swapped. Still nothing ventured nothing gained.

DealsIUsed

Would like to point out that these are now ROLLED OUT if anyone needs/wants one!

ozodimal

Thanks for that, DealsIUsed. Yes, not clear from reindeer's thread, but clear enough on TPE's T's & C's:- The additional discount from 34% to 50% is only available on tickets for Transpennine Express services Only available when purchased using the orange 'Buy Tickets' button underneath 'Save 50% with a 16-25 railcard' on www.tpexpress.co.uk/special-offers/student-train-tickets or via the tpexpress app (promo code: TPESTUDENT) The additional discount only applies to Standard Advance Purchase tickets only and Standard Airport Advance tickets to and from Manchester Airport Tickets must be purchased in advance of travel, and are subject to availability, so book early to get the best possible fares Customers must select a 16-25 Railcard in order to obtain discount, and must present this when you travel Tickets are non-refundable, and are only valid on the date and train services(s) shown on the ticket(s)

Use railcard at any time on any train until 31 August (no 10am start)

If your ticket is over £12 before the price reduction, you will get 1/3 of the price knocked off. Example, a train ticket from Slough to Windsor return is £2.40, with the 16-25 railcard, it knocks it down to £1.80. However, if purchased before 10am, the price will still be £1.80 (if purchased in July and August). Or if purchased outside of the July or August months, it will be £2.40. However, say I buy a ticket from Slough to zones 1-6 day travel ticket, without a discount, that would be £15(ish). The railcard knocks it down to £10.05. So long as the ticket is after 10am on any weekday, I will get the discount. Also, applies to before 10am in July and August. Understand?

Gg18

SORRY WHAT DOES IT MEAN MINIMUM FARE? DOES ONE PAY THE REGULAR FARE AND £12 ON TOP? PLEASE EXPLAIN. THX

oldskoolpug

What station is this that you can do it ? Yes I read what you said.

nipinuk

There is a new 16-17 saver railcard which will be on sale from 20 Aug which gives 50% of fares so a great deal for those within this age bracket. Tried posting the deal but not sure why it was taken down without explanation as it would be a better deal than the 16-25 railcard which only gives 1/3 off. Cut and paste information from the site: The 16-17 Saver will go on sale on 20 August 2019. It's valid across England, Wales and services into Scotland, but not on ScotRail or Caledonian Sleeper services. Holders of a 16-17 Saver will be able to buy discounted tickets for travel from 2 September 2019. Customers will be offered the 16-17 Saver as either a digital product on their phone or a physical card that will be posted to them. It's not possible to have both, this is in line with other discount products.

Me and my gf never guy them. I have heard others on here * about not getting bonus points. Eg ebay Sainsbury

exel1966

Will be account specific, offers will vary or you won't have one right now. That applies to that particular offer period only. You're entitled to applicable bonus points once per offer period. An offer months later is NOT the same offer. Nectar are notoriously bad at paying bonus points on time, if at all. It's often necessary to chase them up which you should have done for your offer months later....IF you followed the T&Cs correctly.

aau1

Then you did something wrong. GWR website shows you the points (including bonus points) that you will earn before you pay and it's also confirmed on your e-receipt

happybunny62

the bonus points come through within 28 days of offer ending,in my experience nearer the 28th day.

richard.senn

5. Bonus points will be awarded on a customer’s first transaction only and not for multiple bookings. I tried using this offer a second time, monts later than the first and received no points.

Nothing you've said detracts from the fact the £ is worth less than it was - just being cheapskate and looking for ways to cut the expense is not really a solution to anything. Take your own tins of beans and sleep on a park bench - that would be cheaper, but not really the holiday you want :)

dipsylalapo

I disagree. Look for the right deals, don't stay dead in the centre, buy wine from local supermarkets and say away from chains for food and you'll be fine. We paid around 20/25 Euro for two courses for two people with wine/beer. Perfectly reasonable I'd say It's around 2euro for a single ticket on the metro and that takes you as far as you want. We stayed away from the centre and paid 4 euro return to get into the City and back. What I do agree with is that some of the attractions (Eiffel Tower) are expensive but there's more to Paris than the tourist attractions.

ssc1

I'd recommend Antwerp not far from Brussels.

Has anyone booked any tickets through Snap? I am thinking of booking some for the AM slot but am not sure what time I will get as it would be difficult for me to get the first train and consequently not worth getting the last AM train as I would get into Paris around 3 pm. Is it correct to assume that the cheapest fare at the moment will be the one that will be allocated meaning that there is less demand? Op maybe you have had some experience in this. Thanks

Got my invite email, booked on the app, then received an email titled 'Free Apple music code inside' - only there was no code and the 'start free trial now' button within the email is not clickable. Viewed the email on several browsers and devices. Live chat completely clueless, just quoted T's and C's and then admitted they couldn't help. Support email replied to promptly, but has now been 'escalated' to technical team, 3 days of back and forth emails now and still can't redeem the promotion that was offered to me. Barcelona is 1000% better - in fact my fave city in Europe!

rs_tigerblade

As a big traveller I have a distinct hate for Paris as well, I think the opposite, I don’t get why anyone likes it, maybe they haven’t been to other cities?! its nothing to do with language barriers, the French are notoriously shi*ty if you don’t speak their language well but even most of them hate on ‘parisians’, think of an even more arrogant shoreditch. The city itself does stink and is over priced as well. Im sure you could get cheap flights to Prague or Barcelona for around this price and have a much better, friendlier welcoming time

DonWavey

Dunno why people hating on Paris, it's a huge city with loads of museums and things to do, lots of culture and history. Also the city is designed for women so every woman should visit at least once in her life. If you have a girlfriend and don't take her for a little weekend at this price you should be alone.

No problem, things are easily taken the wrong way online! Hope you get it sorted :) The 123 Mini would be the most likely as it's their standard account for anybody up to the age of 18. Unfortunately I don't think that one comes with any such benefits like this student one though!

shaysmum

Sorry not meaning to be rude!, never saw this. I just got a notification for a comment & yours came up. I didn't look at the date. Yer its weird, i will look into it thanks could be the mini. :)

Psychobunni

I'm not sure why you're digging up old a month old thread just to be rude, as I was originally just trying to help but OK here goes.. This particular type of Santander bank account can only be opened if "You’re 18 or over" and are about to begin university, or already studying at that level, as per the account terms and conditions. If you are trying to say that your 16 year old daughter has managed to open this specific type of account despite the fact that she isn't eligible, then as her parent you should maybe look into that for her and speak with the bank as this account has criteria such as paying in £500 per semester and offers overdrafts that no minor should have access to, as they aren't legally allowed to due to being under 18. My guess is that she's opened a different type of account and there are maybe some crossed wires somewhere, maybe a Santander 123 Mini?

shaysmum

My daughter opened it at 16 so not sure what your point is?

Looks good. I hope to visit there some day.

lookatmywadd

Thanks for the tip. I usually go here: http://www.drink-guy-deffontaine.be/fr/ - amazing selection of beer but a bit further east.

Madchester

Sorry for the late reply. Pidou selection of Belgian beer is not good and not cheap. What you need to do is go to Vanuxeem (Rue d'Armentières 150, 7782 Comines-Warneton, Belgium). It is about the 90 min drive from Calais. It is the best place to go for your BELGIAN beers and glassware, they have Belgian chocolates too. If I plan a trip to Vanuxeem I will pay a visit to nearby Abbaye Sint Sixtus where they make the world famous Westvleteren beer and have a beautiful brassiere. If you want to reserve crates of beer from the monastery you need to fhone to make a reservation (good luck with that!)...

lookatmywadd

Didn't know about Pidou. What's their Belgian beer selection like? I usually drive over to the Belgium side of the Belgium/France border where there are Belgian beer warehouses with incredible choice.

Madchester

I recommend doing the Pidou deal and not this Majestic wines deal. My original post for Pidou.com that got deleted by some clever dick for unknown reason was this: If you are off to France for a shopping trip you can travel for free if you do some of that shopping at PIDOU cash and carry. Choose either a free Eurotunnel day/over night return or a P&O day/over night return. Pidou sell bottles of wine from £1.25 and beer from 37p/500ml can, quality Belgian ales and collectible glassware and more. You can either pre order or give your details online and decide what you want when you get there: order at least 3 days before you wish to travel. Pidou have 3 stores; Dunkirk, Marck, Calais. You can pick up a loyalty card too which earns you 1 point for every 45€ you spend. The points are redeemed for a selection of items instore. (I got a nice La Trappe Trappist ale gift box with glassfor 16 points) Once you have done your online transaction complete with your desired travel times, Pidou then send you a booking confirmation usually within a couple of hours. You then just have to complete your passenger API on the Euro tunnel/P&O website and you are good to go. Majestic Wines Calais and Calais Wines Superstore have the same deal but which might be worth a look but I find Pidou’s prices more competitive. Majestic Calais offer a free 72hr P&O short break returnwhen you spend £350. Calais Wines Superstore does the 72hr P&O return but you have so spend £500 (Link)
