Can't believe it, I had my payment taken yesterday then got an email stating it's now out of stock! I ordered when there was 16 left as well...ridiculous!!! Anyone know if ebuyer do anything about this when you kick up a fuss? ie. give you a discount off another model?

Montala

Shouldn't this deal be marked as expired by now?

Got mine yesterday, forked out for next day delivery for once! First experience of an LCD and it pretty good! Wanted it for the bedroom and it is cracking buy. Easy to mount on the wall and the laptop found it staight away and works a treat for movies. One question. The warranty in the box says 3 years. Does this need to be activated or is it just a proof of purchase. If it is a proof of purchase are there any issues with it being different to the item ordered? ie. Item: Vistron 26" HD LCD TV 720p 1080i 1366x768 1000:1 550cd/m2 HDMI 8ms Black/Silver + Free Wall Bracket Great set for those that got one. Welcome your comments

For everyone who bought one I can confirm what this tv comes with because mine arrived on Tuesday. I purchased it last week. It is an Evesham Alquemi VX and comes with 3 years warranty it has: 2 x HDMI, 2 x Scart, HD component, S-VHS, cam slot (means you can get setanta!), VGA input, headphone socket and built in digi box. Comes with a stand and wall mount. Picture sharpness is excellent, contrast at the white end isn't so hot but can be fixed by playing about with settings . Not quite as good as a samsung but then a sammie is double the price. Sound quality is what you would expect from an lcd, a bit lacking in base but an amazing bargain. I still can't believe it only cost me £235. Hope everyone enjoys their new tv. This tv is an absolute bargain.

I found one and reserved. I also used the quick service kiosk-thing but my price came up @ £299 ....... I deliberated and left it. Woulda tried it @ £239. schnipps, voted hot and rep left, was a good find. U got a good deal Dusty, well done :)

Dusty

Freeview 9 Sky 10 Analogue 7 HDMI DVD 10 For me its a fantastic TV for the money. As for the discounted price, at the time of reserving it the price was £299, when I got to the shop the next day at the Argos self checkout terminals it came out at £239.99 I nearly pee'd meself :w00t:

caverncity

Same here, I had one with the same fault, took it back to Argos in Manchester and shouted to the guy on customer service, "Hey mate this tele's buzzin" and he said "Thanks, glad you like it"

sonypc100

just picked one up, it was 299 so not sure how other peeps got it for 239

bookshifter

First impressions Dusty? Could u tell the item was from an old catalogue? When did you first find the price reduction, at the till? If the price in store is really £239 I would spend the 30 mins on ring and reserve to try and find one!

just received mine, says on the box 10"-30" NOT Upto 32" as on Ebuyers website. Made of plastic as well  TBH don't look up to scratch especially since the manufacturer's instructions state -: "The wall to which it is to be attached must be solid wood, brickwork or concrete" :x No bloody use to me and should have been stated in the description

I picked up one of these in black a few months ago. I wasn't expecting much, but thought I'd take a chance. I have to say that it is extremely impressive. Picture quality is great and as capable as the branded sets that I was looking at which were twice the price. It is undeniably ugly in the photos, but a much better looking unit in the flesh. The only trouble is that there's no Sky remote code for this telly listed and I don't think anyone's found one that's worked yet.

Waylander

which one? The Vistron or the hitachi?

DevilD

Think this one knocks it for 6 when you look at the spec for £20 more and possible 5 year g/tee free. https://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101618&highlight=hitachi

This is a first class television. We have had ours for acouple of months now with no problems. The picture is great and the freeview tuner is better than what we had on the Sony. We have a DVD upscaler in the HDMI slot and the picture has improved greatly. The Wii is plugged into the component sockets and this also works great. True its not the best looking television but for the money cannot be beaten.

Thats a really interesting article sideysid, thanks. Resolution is the 4th most important issue then. Interesting that contrast ratio is considered by them to be the most important issue in determining picture quality. Samsungs I believe are well known for their high contrast ratio. Anyway, thanks again but Im going to leave it here as this thread is becoming too techie (and a litte heated) for a discussion on a specific deal for a TV I reckon. Cheers.:)

sideysid

I do not assume anyone on here is 'more stupid/less knowledgeable' than me. I merely am saying this is a good panel for the price, and not for anyone to be put off by the native resolution, compared to similar LCDs. The amount of pixels a panel has is not what primarily makes a good display, and the Panasonic plasmas have excellent video processing/black levels etc. Your setup may be suited to your HTPC use, but to someone who wants a big screen watching primarily SD sources this may not be the case.

ThwartedEfforts

Among a number of PC-related things I'm authoring WM HD content at 1080, hence the requirement for a 1080 screen. I know you get off on the assumption that everyone here is more stupid/less knowledgeable than you, but you know what? That ain't always the case. And if you actually read this thread, I explained in my previous post that most people would not be able to tell the difference between 1080 and 720. Most people I know couldn't distinguish VHS from DVD, so in part I am in agreement with you. That said, if you're investing two mortgage payments in something you will probably keep for a decade or more - which is typically the case with big TVs - then getting what is effectively a lesser variant with under half the pixel count of its bigger brother really isn't long-term sensible. Especially if you have a PC in the house.

james141

Good price for a 50" plasma so voted hot but the specs are awfull for a 50" and it is an unknown brand, so personally I would stear well clear, just do a google search for the problems people have had with cheap Tiny or Aldi plasmas!

arfster

I'd say the borderline was more like 50" for 1080p tbh, although viewing distance is the key thing. My two sets are the Sagem 45" 720p and the Sony 55" 1080p above, and at 9/10 feet you really don't get any benefit from 1080p whatsoever. It's only really 8 feet minimum, 7 feet ideally you see the extra detail - and that's only when the source is HD-DVD, or BBC HD. If you're watching a DVD or normal TV, there's no benefit whatsoever. At 40" I'd suspect you'd need to sit 5/6 feet away to see the extra detail of 1080p, which is a bit impractical in most lounges. In that size bracket, personally I'd advise going for a good 720p plasma (eg TH42px60) rather than a 1080p LCD. Of course, if you can stretch to £1250, don't mind the huge screen dominating your lounge (55" is pretty much double the screen size of a 40"), and aren't bothered by a set 50cm deep rather than 10cm (remember the set is 130cm wide or so, and the backs slopes inwards so it's not very visible), then the Sony is a good bit better than either - much bigger, the contrast of the plasma, the detail of the 1080p LCD.

trojan698

If you're buying over 40 inches you really should go for the full HD spec - 1080p as the quality difference between 720p and 1080p is noticable on that size of screen. Still a very good price though Well worth the extra IMO.

Is there a code to tune SKY+ to the remote?

MBeeching

If it's the same 32" Techwood my housemate bought in Dec then it doesn't have a VGA input. Could you use a component>VGA adaptor? The set's pretty good for the money, the picture was unbelievably bad on a non-RGB source but Sky+ looked better than I was expecting when I had a gander. Blacks are nothing special but the image was sharp.

kimbo_frog

The TJ Hughes one says it includes wall hanging bracket But nothing mentioned on the woolworths one... so may be a better bargain?? :?

Is this any good? I previously got the Technosonic which was brill till it broke down! Does it have VGA and picture in picture like the Technosonic? Is there a code so that I am able to tune it to my SKY+? Thanks
