just a heads up that of all the china brand phones i've used only Xiaomis seem to work properly. all the other brands have good specs but random things don't work. i've sent back every one i'v tried and now own a Xiaomi Redmi 4X. Simply cannot fault it for the money.

saucymonk

Sweet as my meat!

Just.Wondering

Quite amazing really , only a couple of years ago I would of considered 5.84" screen a phablet, but now a days I would consider the phone to be a bit on the small size, partly due to the screens aspect ratio...

mradrianc

Have the Pro. Don't use the GPS that much but haven't encountered any problems with it. Just opened google maps and its accurate up to about 5-10 feet.

ADirtyOldClown

It's been the present for some time too nevermind the future. They've got flagship phones when on sale for £100-£150 matching UK's stock of phones worth £500+ seen several forum posts over these, believe what you will in that a few users have bought these and reset them to factory settings and had it lock into Chinese until they figure out how to change it back which with screen translate isn't much of an issue but then the specs of the phone show up lower than what was originally quoted (People saying their phones were flashed to show up with more memory/storage/ram etc) Would personally steer away though otherwise would of been a decent cracking phone.

I very much like Chinese phones, I owned Xiaomis and Huaweis. I was interested in Umidigi for a while since they're really cheap, but after watching and reading reviews, I just don't like that they're lying about specs and that their UI is very buggy.

Gentle_Giant

Both the Umis I had, the original and the replacement (6 months after I sent the first back); had non-functional GPS; however the phone kept claiming it was working correctly - a deliberate con; it was trying to mask the lack of GPS by using wifi positioning, and geo-location based on IP address. Digging into the guts of the operating system test tools, it had a "map" of GPS satellites it could "see", but that map was a fake, the sats never moved, which they do in real life, as they are not in geosynchronous orbits.

mike557

Ordered on 20/8/18 and still 'on hold'. Price has increased and site says 'Usually will be shipped in 72 hours'. C.S. at Tomtop just say wait a few more days!!! Aliexpress says this is currently presale so suspect the problem is at Umidigi.

Gentle_Giant

Go do a search for Umi and look at the complaints; there are plenty of people like me who fell for the hype and ordered one; just to get a POS that didnt have the advertised spec, and broke straight out of the box.

Oh, HOW I cold voted; that is easy, I clicked the COLD button at the top of the page. [wanders off muttering a word not too dissimilar to "Boron".]

Mrswitch

I was questioning how you cold voted not why. Anyway, I have better things to do with my life than have an argument with someone that matters nothing to my life, so I bid you farewell. Muted.

Gentle_Giant

If you dont mind, why are you questioning why I cold voted, and keep insisting on your screwed up idea of what a deal is??

Mrswitch

Have I trolled? It's called having a grown up conversation. And as grown ups, we can't agree on everything. I vote with my style, and you yours. I have no problem with people voting my deals cold in the slightest, in fact I welcome it, if people can prove they find it cheaper, then I vote it fold myself. But so far nobody has done that, so am quite content with this deal.... I appreciate the comments though, I really do. Just try not to mistake trolling for a debate, it won't get you far on this site.

Gentle_Giant

Free is the only good price for an Umi phone; I think that my comments make that pretty clear. or are you trolling because you are upset someone doesnt like the "Deal" you have posted. I know many, MANY people visiting here think that any old POS is a "deal" if it is cheap; but I am not one of them, for it to be a real deal, it has to be a USABLE product. My experience, and that of many other past Umi buyers, is that the products are worthless; I would rather buy a cheap fake phone, than give Umi any more money. (Waits for the regular 2-3 Umi shills to claim the products are wonderful, reliable, and worth their weight in gold).

Reliability & Build of anything made by UmiDigi since early 2017 (eg: not UmiDigital stuff) is as good as their major shareholders devices.. which used to be Sony (y) As for warranty, all shipped via GB euro sold and delivered items, have a warranty, item has to go back to somewhere in europe (depending on what warehouse ships it) if it is a repair and fix or swop! One Year Repair WarrantyUnless otherwise noted on the product page, the default product warranty period is one year starting from the date you receive the goods, during which you are eligible for free repair. Any free repair needs to be confirmed with the manufacturer via Customer Service. Customers must pay the shipping fees for returning the item accordingly, while we will cover the shipping fees to send the repaired item back to the customer. If the buyer has damaged/misused the item(s), it will not be eligible for free repair, however customers can return it at their own cost and pay a fee for the repair. Return shipping fees will be the customers responsibility in such cases.

I think you are getting a lot of phone for your money, but a few things you should be aware of to avoid confusion and know what you are getting: Please be aware the 32GB in NOT the pro version, as well as less storage, you will not get Wireless Charging or NFC, with this only coming on the more expensive pro version... Also will the NFC be compatiable with Google Pay? On both phones be aware, while the screen looks very respectable, it is only HP and not full HD. Also in the photos the screen on AliExpress it is made to look a lot like it has far smaller bezels that it really does. The phone is claimed to be dual lens on the rear with a 12/5mp lens, with the 5mp camera claimed to be used to create a boka haffect on the images. UmiDigi have claimed this in the past on previous phones and the second lens has shown to be a fake lens and the bokah effect is done purely by the software. I'm not saying this is the case on this phone, but going by the companies track record and the pricing, I wouldn't be surprised! The Pro has a 3250 mAh battery, while the cheaper UmiDigi has a 3550mAh battery. I am unable to find any independent reviews yet, but here are a couple of videos giving a breakdown of the specs of the phones, which might be of use: YouTube - Tech Brothers - UMIDIGI One/One Pro Hands-on Preview: Budget Version of UMIDIGI Z2? Seems to be an issue if you are buying something of a certain value. Either risk free snail mail post and be at the mercy of not receiving the item with a negligable value and having to claim it on a credit card or pay for insured delivery through DHL where you will almost certainly be stung for taxes.

If your phone died 3 months later, like mine : expect no help, What So ever. Extra warranty is worthless. You send it to Poland ( their eu offices) for fixing and it returns unopened. They will not refund your money or do anything then insisting you send to China to be looked at. Photos, videos, and explanation ignored. Three months without a phone !

Messi1984

Do you have a source to support this.

Fake rear secondary camera would he enough to put me off alone

Gentle_Giant

I would be more concerned that it is an Umi phone, that has a good chance of turning up broken, or breaking as soon as you look at it. AliExpress offer good buyer protection these days, and if sent via their standard mail service, has a very low chance of attracting a customs charge. In nearly 10 years of using AE, I have only had one claim go against me, and one claim where the seller played the returns system, leaving me out of pocket..

I mention above that the Umidigi S2 camera is really poor (I have one) and the S2 Pro may be the same. To be fair the Umidigi S2 is a nice phone. Even with less Spec than the Pro, the screen is great, long battery life and it is lightweight & feels good in the hand. However, if you do not mind a heavier phone and lack of Notification LED, have a look at the DOOGEE MIX 2 https://www.banggood.com/DOOGEE-MIX-2-5_99-Inch-6GB-RAM-64GB-ROM-Helio-P25-Octa-Core-4G-Smartphone-p-1201795.html?rmmds=search&cur_warehouse=HK Value for money is amazing see review at

Bought the UMI plus a few months ago and never got the promised android 7 update which was suppose to be out in Jan this year. No user support provided what so ever or bug fix updates rolled out. Camera quality poor and battery life starting to become an issue. I can only presume that users who buy this phone will experience the same issues for this low quality manufacturer. USB C cable connection also had issues as only umi cables seemed to fit correctly. (mad)

shootomanUK

The Umi Iron had a metal body and was also a flagship device but was let down by poor manufacturing and no bug fixes, Umi didn't care and just carried on releasing new phones without fixing the ones they already had out.

elliot1234

As a long term user of both Gearbest and AliExpress, I can 100% vouch for them. I recently bought my Redmi Note 4 off of AliExpress (This is not my first Chinese smartphone btw) and it came in perfect condition and is working beautifully. Moreover AliExpress guarantees you get your item or you get a refund (This has happened on a few occasion's but I always got my money back). On the other hand Gearbest does not guarantee your items however if you pay with PayPal you are covered anyway. I also was a bit skeptical at first about these so called "shady" back alley Chinese sites, but the truth is they are very dependable and so far I have not had one Gearbest item that hasn't arrived ....... Yet. Regarding the UMIDIGI phone, I've never owned one but I have owned similar cheap Chinese smartphones and heres the basic lowdown. If you are looking for a good phone to work with great software straight out of the box, then this is probably not the phone for you. But if you are willing to get your hands dirty and (most likely) install another ROM on the phone then you will be pleasantly surprised, but most phone users would not want to have to go through all the trouble doing that. If that is the case, buy the Iphone X :P P.S Xiaomi produces great phones and has great support just FYI

bensbargains

Using gearbest for cheap items I can understand but to pay this sort of money to those idiots is sheer madness. Lucky if it lasts 2 months, utter garbage.

Reading1800

Been watching this for a while, be interested to read actual owners experience first, particularly the C port for headphones, shame no headphone jack, not all headphones work properly through a c adapter. Specs for the money appear very good. Not sure how long support follows, we had an early Umi phone and support was thin, but as this is a flagship would hope as good as Xiaomi.

As an ex Umi owner (mine lasted less than 5 minutes out of the box before breaking), I commiserate; but at least anyone stupid enough to buy from this offer can return it to Amazon for a refund when it breaks. Of course the phone I just mentioned was the REPLACEMENT, the original was broken out of the box, and took Umi 6 months to replace.

CrispEditor

But despite all that! Is it a good phone? To rival an iphone X? <ducks> I have an Oukitel, and nearly everything you describe above matches my phone (random bluetooth turning off, random reboots; havent tried the sound). Definitely no support or updates. Other than that - its terrific !

BroonSauce

If you don't mind the bluetooth turning on randomly and not working when it does, the wi-fi keep dropping out, HD video stuttering during playback, no gyroscope, no option to change the UI scaling, poor sound and camera, poor call quality, no netflix for more than 10 minutes at a time without it crashing (and many other apps), the battery life being half as good within a month of first use and zero support or updates to fix it's many problems then this phone is a must buy!
