Have bought a couple of these previously at this price. Work well for charging my HTC Desire whereas a couple of cheap ebay cables have not worked for charging.

This is great, thanks for posting! Although my 3gs is in mint condition, the cable is frayed at one end, and it hasn't even been over used.....since I'm going to sell my iPhone with accessories, this will be perfect as I wouldn't want to give mine to anyone...!! Hope I can find one in my locals....they'r eall metros and express....

royals

they sold their laptop division to lenovo (of china) in 2004-5, making lenovo the 3rd largest computer company the in world ibm consultancy sucks too, they think they invented everything.

royals

another plank who thinks all cables are the same just because digital transmissions are sent across it i bet.....cables are NOT the same.....build quality, built and tested to a certain spec, etc I have cheap ones and apple ones.....the apple ones are far far better than the cheap ones eg from dealextreme.....but they arent 10-20 times better.....i always buy the dealextreme ones as they work fine just the build quality sucks...butfor the price difference ill put up with it

cynikill

cheers, picked one up from sale. I hate budget cables, they never seem to last once you have folded them up a few times.

hotukdeals81

Apple is really overpriced and soon you will hear the burst just like IBM. it is just a competitor is required. IBM once was really overpriced i understand the quality factor but they were charging way too much for their systems. But once competitors started giving same quality at less than half price IBM was charging (Like Dell) company saw significant reduction in profit and even sold one of its department to china company and now all they doing is consultancy.

Blimey! you paid £60 for just a 120gb external HDD :w00t: My seagate 320gb one only cost £45 including one click backup software.

GDB2222

There's pretty intuitive software that does this - try EZBack-it-up or SecondCopy. Once you've scheduled it, you never need to click anything.

EndlessWaves

The problem with these typically is that they either back up too much and the actual images you wanted to save are swamped by all the images included with programs you've installed or they back up too little and you lose data created by programs that the software doesn't know about.

deleted65393

I bought my parents an LG 500GB mobile drive which came with software that allows you to run full or incremental backups and it works fine. That only cost £25 more than this deal with the 500GB of storage. They should rename this to BrainFree maybe although I appreciate there is a class of users that could benefit from this.

thedon

Whilst I work in IT, and am quite capable of manually backing up, or remembering to copy and paste my photos to the NAS drive etc - it's a confusing process for people who aren't interested in Computers per se - just like browsing the net, emailing, and looking at their digital camera images that they've (usually struggled) to put on there!. My Dad and Mother in Law are perfect examples of this - and i'm quite tired of remotely accessing their machines to set off Backup programs and talk them through plugging in pen drives etc. I've bought them these for xmas based on the reviews (see below - it has the same benefits whether you have just this cable, or buy the drive itself (circa £60 on ebuyer which I think is probably a better deal overall)) as it appears to be as easy as plugging in, and unplugging when the onscreen message tells you it's finished. http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/12/31/review_hard_drive_clickfree_backup/ http://reviews.cnet.com/laptop-hard-drives/clickfree-portable-backup-drive/4505-9997_7-33497721.html http://www.computeractive.co.uk/computeractive/hardware/2229800/review-clickfree-hard-drive

If anyone is thinking of using this to connect their router to the PC - don't do it. Always use a pure silver cable, as the silver material kills all known viruses on contact, whereas the gold material seems to attract Nigerian phishing attacks. No worse than some of the pseudo-science on this thread at least... :whistling:

paulynmarshall

Quite right too. You shouldn't skimp on anti-virus measures. ;-)

This one doesn't look too bad - the back has a perforated panel which can be pulled using the supplied 'tab'. I know what you mean tho - Microsoft have a habit of sealing everything within an inch of its life.

Computerman

my point exactly!

xenophon

Because while I'm charging AA for my digital camera with my normal battery charger I can also charge a couple of AAA for my MP3 player while I'm using the PC.

Waldolf

The only good thing with this charger, is that with an suitable USB car cigarette socket adapter, then you can use this to charge some batteries whilst out and about. But whether that's better than having spares in the glove box I don't know Why you would need to charge batteries off the computer? If you have rechargeable batteries then you are sure to have a proper charger Probably a waste of a pound
