I've got one of these for work very happy with it.
All Waterproof Camera Discounts, Offers and Sale - August 2020
First deal and it's got rather hot. Well done and thanks for sharing @SpindleDick (y)
The more pixels on a camera the harder it is to "see in the dark" I had an FT5 it was a solid camera and took good 12 mp shots. Who needs more when theyre viewed on a 4 mp screen?
Cheaper at Costco if you have membership
I've got one and also it's predecessor, the FT5 which I use for photos of dogs for a local rescue kennels. I shoot in burst mode. The FT5 seems to have better auto focus and I get more usable images. It also gives a better exposed image - the FT7 shots are often darker. The FT7 is faster and burst mode takes more continuous shots. 4K mode is even better to extract an image from a series. It also charges from a USB cable and has a better screen. It's bigger than the FT5 but still pocketable. My default camera remains the FT5
Yeah, the 3 and 4 were top of the bunch (with, I think, Olympus), I think the 5 was solid. This is notably behind the competition now. It’s still a solid camera, just hasn’t moved on. I’ve got one, but I haven’t properly tested it yet, but I’ve done a lot of research.
heat added - this is a great camera being sold at two thirds its normal price
Is there something I've missed? does anyone know why this has gone cold?
I've got one of the older versions. Brilliant cameras. Recommended
I've got an older one too (TG-3), and yes, the macro is insane.
I have the 5. The macro is INCREDIBLE
If there is a phone camera that beats this one then I am buying that phone. I have one of these for my regular use as I couldn't get a decent phone camera at a sensible price that would last me for a few years.
I have the TG4 for every day use when am out and about Focussing particularly in video mode is pretty much hit and miss requiring time to adjust as no manual focus Flaps covering battery card and outputs have double locks but many have reported that they failed or fiddly Video can be jerky and you can hear every bit of wing and zoom motor Wifi connection poor and gps tagging dodgy and drains battery Paid £180 from eglobal then it broke Took 3 months to get it fixed but its still full of faults
Suppose the Sony DSC-RX0 cameras shows what can be done with a 1" sensor : https://camerasize.com/compare/#547,733
Loads of positive reviews as they promise you a free gift if you give the prouct a 5 star review
£34 with a decent EIS- Campark X15 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07QLQRLTZ/
Same camera/different name in RYMAN £14,99
Check above comment..
Good service and doing the right thing should cost nothing
Agreed totally! I feel i got lucky this time!
Good to hear you were happy with your purchase... Any company can sell stuff, the test of a company is with their after sales support, with eglobal it was just about non existent... I'm not the only one with a horror story, there are many many more
I wasnt sure about buying from eglobal but decided to purchase my Motorola G5S+ from them just over a year ago as it cost £70 less than in the UK at the time and surprisingly it was delivered in about a week so I had a decent transaction with them but based on your review and the disgraceful service you've experienced I will never buy from them again! Sorry to hear of your troubles id be absolutely fuming too. Rather pay the extra cost for peace of mind after hearing your horror story! (shock)
Here's my experience with eglobal https://www.trustpilot.com/users/5895aabd0000ff000a73c337
Any idea where to find the 2018 hero upgrade folder with the files needed, I cant seem to find it anywhere and not confident creating myself?
Hero 2018 has good stock at Cex https://uk.webuy.com/product-detail/?id=0818279023190b&categoryName=camcorders&superCatName=electronics&title=gopro-hero-10m-%282018%29-action-camera-b
Oh boy it's a shame the 2018 version is so rare and pricey now as I only paid 130 new and coverted to the hero 5
Might want to read the actual description
OP if you went for it could you let us know what the condition was like? Realise that the deal might have expired by then
IBIS is still worth it for some situations... even with full frame, in darker situations if you want low noise, IBIS could help a lot. Though it is a lot of extra money for pretty much just this feature, and makes it worth considering a jump up to an A7r ii, which has IBIS plus 4K video, 42mp sensor, electronic shutter (silent) etc etc (though is another £400 on top).
as far as i know yeah, never used them personally but saw no posts about problems could always get john lewis to pricematch them
Thanks. So camera world is a good shop and definitely eligible for the cashback? Sorry I never bought from them.
sony is the brand just "Dispatched from and sold by AB Online." app stinks it seems (edit: scroll down a bit)
I believe it’s dispatched by Sony that’s why I was considering. Plus with amazon I find it easier to deal with returns and deliveries.
Thanks. I'd some some digging and could see all FT7'S WERE £100, didn't know the letter colour codes though. Prefer blue but not sure it's worth £20
I think its just the John Lewis page is inaccurate / out of date. The Panasonic page lists DC-FT7EB-A, DC-FT7EB-D and DC-FT7EB-K, all with £100 cashback. DC-FT7EB-K is the black one.
I'm a little confused. The black says £50 cash back, the orange/blue costs £20 more but says £100 cash back. Can anyone clarify, please?I love the top tough Lumix, had an FT3 and FT4 (replacement) and loved it.
Thanks for that, been looking for one these for a while, great deal with cashback. :)
Hmmm. Panny generally do good 4k video but it seems the still images from this camera aren't all that good. Price is good (with cashback) but the only benefit personally would be giving it to the kids while on holiday so they leave my gear alone. ;)
Yep. Full GPS tagging on my videos and pictures!
Is the hardware identical then? I thought there were doubts about 4k and GPS support because of the hardware.
Agreed, this was discussed on a similar deal: https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/gopro-hero5-action-camera-bundle-includes-casey-shorty-16-gb-memory-card-black-24999-amazon-3121438 The firmware upgrade produces an exact like-for-like to the Hero 5. I've done it myself and can verify, it's as easy as copy and paste a folder onto an empty microSD card, inserting the card into the GoPro and turning it on. After 5 minutes or so it will restart as a Hero 5 (y)
Because that's relatively specific knowledge. I'm also not sure sure that the firmware upgrade produces an exact like-for-like, although I might be wrong.
GoPro Hero is around £150 (can be upgraded to same firmware as this Hero 5 Black) Extra battery, 16GB SD and Tripod would come to around £50 Confused to why this is being voted hot.
I've also had a few panasonic cashbacks & agree it's usually a smooth process. However, they are very particular about model eligibility (grey imports are excluded for ecample), so I'd double check if this is included. It may just be a typo in the amazon listing, but it could be something more significant.
I'm sure it is exactly the same camera, just an inaccurate title and description on Amazon. If you check the product details on Amazon, it says "Item model number: DC-FT7EB-A". Lumix cameras used to have model numbers starting with "DMC", but it seems the newer models are just "DC". I've got a few cashbacks from Panasonic, no problems. Though note you have to wait 35 days after purchase, before you can claim.
Careful though. I'd certainly snap this up if the cashback was guaranteed. However, the cashback only applies to very specific model numbers - see list via pronotion link - and the DMC-FT7EB-A is not on the list, even though other variants of this model are (and they're £100 more expensive). I'd therefore recommend double checking with Amazon and / or Panasonic if you're purchasing on the strength of the cashback alone. I've got an ft5 and would love to upgrade, if the price is right.
My Green one from Amazon arrived today, thanks for the heads up on these OP.... My 7 Yr old will be very happy...
My camera is coming on the 11th june! :D
I did upgrade firmware to 1.01 with no luck. Then I hit it few times and it started working lol
Hi, Was you notified of the price decrease or did you just manually check? Kind regards, Matt
You can get similar on eBay for much less, I bought for for less than £3
Still should have been shipped with the camera in my opinion but after one GP5 being busted from water getting in thought i'd protect the new one :P
It has been cheaper on amazon, but very rarely drops price so heat from me. Great for cutting out wind noise.
Video is on English I am from UK think the guy is from Liverpool
Yes, but it's also a third of the price so in the scope of 35 quid generic cameras this is a pretty good deal. But as you say, don't expect yi 4k quality.
basically don't buy - it's not a real Yi - it appears to be re-badged generaic camera
Lighting deal finished
It's in english, aren't you from the UK? Maybe I can do a video for you in your own language?
These are around £10 from china. Cold!
I already have a Yi Lite and the standard 4K and I use 64GB Samsung Evo Plus cards. I haven't yet used my new 4K+ but the Evo Plus cards work well with the other cameras.
What card are you using for this? I heard that Samsung Evo Plus cards (which are cheap as chips) work well for 4k footage - I have one coming and will report back. I got the offer (sans waterproof case), with the stick, a battery replacement and leather protective case, lens cover, for £204 from Amazon (prime).
It's called a Floating Handlebar. Mine arrived yesterday with the camera I ordered - it's a plastic hand grip finished in foam and it will float with the camera attached if you accidentally let go of it in the water. Can't say it's worth the £16.99 you're supposed to be saving but I guess it's better than nothing! :)
It comes with a free handle grip?
Fair enough, but apart from possible inconvenience if you do get a fake, Amazon (in my personal experience) protects buyers very effectively and as long as you follow the procedures for disputes you will get your money back. I've had a couple of disputes with Amazon sellers and they all backed down after I threatened to open a dispute case with Amazon. One didn't respond and Amazon refunded me anyway. eBay has also improved a lot in recent years (also PayPal). I also had a good experience with Gearbest when an activity tracker band I bought had a relatively minor fault (notifications were showing up in Chinese rather than English) and I was given a full credit. I'm sure others will have less positive stories but so far so good for me. As for Yi and this deal - as said before, the brand is solid and this deal is from the official Yi Technology Amazon store, so no problems.
Ordered - heat added. Comes with a great accessory kit. Going skiing next week and will use it for that - also plan to use it for diving later in the year.
Anybody recommend a indoor camera that will work and take a pic that's not to dark at this sort of price.
i think its a good beginners action cam. and for £30, you wont be crying if your kid breaks it after 3 months!
There are a whole load of these cameras that have exactly the same spec, you will get the same one with a different name for £28.62 on lightning deal every couple of days. For the price they are really good little cameras.
After seeing the reviews, it's not for me. Good price though, so if it suits your needs go for it
How does the Furibee 1080p compare to this one? I think they are a similar price.
How much cheaper
Getting cold brrrrr. Lol, just thought for £19.99 this wasn't bad.
Cold - Can buy like for like model cheaper on eBay
Voted hot. These things, are becoming that cheap, they're almost disposable.
It's £20! Got to be worth a shot at that price.
"Great reviews" I imagine from people who haven't actually used it properly, or who were sent it free. It has never been £50, so yet another case of cheap tat being given imaginary RRPs to fool consumers.
This looks to be the typical price?
Anyone remember what happened to the under water photographer in Jaws ! (cheeky)
