Well it's not like it'll harm your cat but it's a bit like giving them junk food diet. It'll sustain them but isn't the best thing to feed them. I'd rather spend a bit more and give them the best in my price range. The applaws bags last me months with 2 indoor cats. You might also find you have to feed more grams of whiskas a day than you do with applaws. 7.5kg bags are actually not too big. I always have 2 on the go as I like my cats to have something different in morning and evening. When I was buying royal canin I'd have 2 x 12kg bags on the go (lol)

I have a healthy 17 year old cat who says different (in cat talk), we've always used whiskas. Considering 1kg costs £4, this is a good price. But where to keep a 7kg bag?!

Spend a bit more and feed your cat on something a bit more wholesome. Whiskas is full of cereal and filler ingredients which don't give your cat much nutrition. I stock up on Applaws when the amazon s&s discounts come around and get 7.5kg bags for around £22

Thanks OP great post, ordered!

Typical misleading Amazon offer - yeah a box if you sign up to something else - Stick with Zoopla or Bitiba. Found them almost impossible to beat for price and fast delivery. Zoopla tends to be the better choice and gives customer loyalty points. Both have a different minimum order, but easy to exceed.

Whiskas Dry Food: Chicken (Case of 5 Boxes)

Thought this sounds a good offer 5 Boxes for £9.95, RRP £24.95 Each box is 825g Equivalent price: £1.69 per box, RRP: £4.99
Get dealGet deal

(horror) RRP (embarrassed) XD 2 FOR £4 in waitrose, however you could buy 6 boxes from Asda on a comparison shop and get them for an equivalent of £1.80 per box

currently £2.25 a box in tescos, but the 2kg bags of this are £5 each or 2 for £8 which works out better value, rrp of £4.99 is totally false.

Works out at £1.99 per box. Although a decent price, these boxes are regularly reduced to £2 at the supermarkets and always less than £3, not too sure about the rrp of £4.99.

Apologies, somehow quoted the wrong person's comment, you quoted the comment that referenced Unilever and when replying via mobile (for some reason the formatting is all squiffy) I've grabbed your comment but not the one it was in response to (which didn't seem to show up as a separate quote).

Had many a vet say to me that you never give your dog Dentastix unless it's a rare treat, they are so bad for them and fattening (despite the annoying advertising making it that it should some kind of 'daily health' product). I wouldn't eat a Mars Bar every day, why on earth would you expect your dog too!

I agree too ...I absolutely wouldn't feed my cats on the foods listed. However, they do get Dreamies as a treat & as a reward when playing with them. Dry foods crack off the dental plaques that can build up and cause decay and gum disease. Often the hidden sugars and ingredients in some less pro health foods, especially wet foods, are to blame for dental issues in cats and dogs. If you do convert to dry food feeding it is VITAL to ensure access to plenty of water. The first ingredient in most wet foods is actually water! I second the person who says people look at how expensive a sack of dry food so buy Whiskas etc not realising that it actually works out more expensive per day to feed their pet. I use the bottomless bowl program that petshop.co.uk operate but appreciate that it may be cheaper to source it elsewhere sometimes. At the end of the day it's about what you are happy to feed and prepared to give your pet. For me that is quality dry food. Hope that helps someone :3

I haven't a clue what you're talking about. I never even mentioned Unilever?

Thanks for the info. I don't own any dogs atm but I'm planning to get one soon

Milk and Other Dairy Products. What could be wrong with offering your cat a saucer of milk or a piece of cheese? Most cats are lactose-intolerant. Their digestive system cannot process dairy foods, and the result can be digestive upset with diarrhea.
