Mine arrived today, WiFi wasn't great, installed WiFi Doctor which seemed to help. Also holding it upsidedown I get almost no signal, but turn it right way up and it's considerably better. It's not ideal having issues but it's fine for most things and if I need good download speeds I can move 2 feet and get very good speeds. For 53 quid (no customs) I'm happy with it

Seems to be poor soldering causing a problem and there are guides on how to fix it with a soldering iron, but I'm not overly keen on doing that on a brand new tablet. As a backup you can get a Rtl8188 WiFi dongle (£1.24).Of course it's far from ideal if you can't charge and use WiFi at the same time so OTG hub adapter cable (£1.22) should take care of that and give options for a keyboard or games controller. The lengths I go to just to remain a cheapskate....

Nice price! Is this preowned?

A site search for "Linx" sorted by price shows the £19.99 tablet as "New".
Oos
Got one the other day for the lower price on Amazon. Updated it as per the advice and it went all the way to the anniversary update which promptly lost the network adapter. Tried new drivers chipset and realtek but no joy so have rolled the op sys back.

Which has now restored the network adapter....

Beware and don't update all the way to anniversary till they have the fix.
There's one on Amazon. 64.99 refurbished.

Ah, just seen the comment about them being on ebay.

These are great tablets.
I managed to run mirrors edge 1 directly on the tablet via steam (installed to the tablet). Was around 34fps at high graphics if I recall.

The tablet kept crashing if I threw too much at it, so I ended up selling.

But for £70, I would consider this again. Should run the ps4 remote play desktop app as well.

Yes mate it's back on.

Thanks mate.
This compares very well with the Nintendo Switch as a portable gaming device yet is about the same cost as the Switch pro controller on its own. More cpu processing power and a lot longer battery life. May even be possible to emulate up to Gamecube or even wii level if you want the Nintendo game experiences.

GPU a lot weaker though about 90 gflops vs about 150 or 200 gflops in Switch portable mode. This sits between Vita and Switch in gpu performance terms.

Can you download google play store on this tablet?
Never mind, they have hiked the price. Not a deal at the current price.
PS: Does anybody know whether it is possible to install Android like on the 7" version? That would probably be a more useful OS.
Indeed. While the price is right, there are two problems with this tablet: the CPU is quite weak, and 1 GB of RAM is no longer sufficient for recent versions of Windows 10. So you may struggle to even run updates on this, certainly once you actually install a program or two.

For specific use cases this is still useful, but as a general Windows tablet not so much. (Oh, and the Windows app store for tablets is really barren, none of my top apps are in there, all the Google apps are missing, even Skype is quite limited.)
does this tablet work with the Microsoft wireless display adapter?

I found the complete opposite with my t100 the battery would last 4 hours on a good day and drain as fast as using it when in sleep meaning I had to power it off completely to not have to charge it permanently.

In the end my battery has just decided to decide when to work lately with it randomly deciding not to turn on one day and then working the next.

Its the 2nd asus product that has had poor battery performance for me (the first being a zenfone 2) I find they work fine for about 6-12 month then develop a battery that is great one day and poor the next.

My grandad developed the same issue with his zenfone 2 which makes me think its not just me that suffers but its nice to know someone has better luck with asus battery life than me.

I am really enjoying mine. Streams xbox perfectly, barely any lag. I am also playing pc games downloaded directly on device ( via steam) so far i have been playing Skyrim, Portal 1 & 2, Dirt 3. The tablet does struggle with ps4 remote play there is too much lag to play anything that requires quick response.
After having this for months and trying hard to get along with it, I can confirm it's just not worth it. The controls are useless for anything other than racing games I have fiber and the thing still struggles to stream steady, It's a low resolution screen very low! it can stream steam it can also play basic games straight off it ie left for dead 2, it can also stream ps4 but I wouldn't bother. The windows 10 installed struggles to work correctly if you leave the device on for more than a week you basically need to do a hard rebbot of the system. Stick to streaming your xbox one your laptop.

Just got one for grandma to use instead of her broken digital photoframe and was shocked how good this was. It runs Win 10 basics so well that I'm now thinking of getting one for around the house browsing/ photos/ email duties. Looks great and the battery seems decent. Silly price for running the latest OS.
I have a Linx 7" Windows Tab (£29) refurbished found through this site.
1Gb RAM 32Gb SSD. Runs Windows 10 fine for general tasks such as office and web browsing - you are not going to play new games on these things.
Reasonable battery life. Keeps charge OK in sleep mode.
I have a generic Bluetooth keyboard case for it and use it on the train for work, often with a Mouse attached.
far more useful than an i-thingy. 7" is a little small though. 8" is perfect.

I just put an SD card in, downloaded the mediacreationtool onto the tablet, ran it, chose update this computer, and when it eventually said not enough space i clicked use external drive (The SD Card). I believe it just uses that to house the instalation / old windows files.
just like to add I have finished updating and have not got any driver issues since the start

I spent about 15-16 hours on it yesterday and my options got fewer and fewer. I simply could not free up enough space on the tablet to go the adaptive technologies upgrade route - which is a Win 10 upgrade aimed at people with disabilities (though MS simply does not check). At no time did the 'not enough space' message come with an option to use off-device storage. I also could not do a fresh install by USB or SD. I was tearing my hair out. Reset the tablet, again. Uninstalled every last program I could. I was down to just Epic Browser and Virtual Clone Drive (freeware) on the desktop. I used Media Creation Tool to put to Win 10 on a USB attached through a three-port OTG adapter. Rebooted. The .exe on the ISO showed up as a clickable option within VCD and it was just a case of clicking the .exe and crossing my fingers. I did not think it would work, but it did. Install took about 40 minutes. Update took longer. The microSD card slot wasn't recognised but I fixed that with nige's post containing the Realtek driver. Thanks for that - it's a real pain hunting down the right ones. The effort is so worth it. Windows 10 looks and feels massively better than Win 8.1. Clearly either the ISO route is still free (but MS is keeping quiet about it) or Win 10 has been on my device before, registered with MS but removed during the refurb process. At no point was I ever asked for a product key.

So it all worked with using a USB stick with just the 17mb MediaCreationTool.exe in it? Thought I'd have to download the ISO and make the USB a bootable ISO or something

Don't forget the M3 version can currently be had for £566 with cashback (or even less with trade-in):
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/microsoft-surface-pro-4-128-gb-10139732-pdt.html

Add the keyboard cover above and you're looking at £587 all-in. That's for a premium, magnesium-build tablet/laptop hybrid with a 2736 x 1824 high DPI screen and pen input. It even includes the Adobe CC bundle, worth roughly £100. How is that overpriced?

An equivalent iPad Pro (12.9 / 128Gb) will cost £799 without the keyboard (£139) and pencil (£79). Given what even the Core M Surface can do, it's a bargain at these prices.

They're predominately targeted at professional use. Their price does appear poor value when lined up against other consumer items but if you're using it professionally, the modest improvements over cheaper consumer grade items make more sense.

If you use your device to make your living that premium can be justified.

My son has the Lynx 8. Uses it to watch Netflix, NowTV and Sky on his TV, but that comes with HDMI. He managed to update it to Windows 10 so I'd have thought it been possible on this device.

If you throw to much at it, it would crash. If you threw to little at it, it would crash. Most of the time it ended up getting sluggish quickly or resetting. The concept was great, and performed well with games. But outside that it was a bit meh.

Just sounds like you had a fault model if it was crashing.

While the iRulu 8" Windows 10 tablet does leave sometuing to be desired, what with its 1GB of RAM and power drinking LCD screen. For the pricepoint of the tablet i cannot complain, the overall quality of the device FEELS cheap and its response times are to match.
However if you are looking for a cheap low cost tablet running anything but Android OS then look no further as it is quite literally the cheapest Windows tablet available on the market to date.
Pros:
- Nice bright LCD screen makes it easy to see what is being displayed on the screen.
- Windows 10 works well with the 1GB of RAM
- Pricepoint is on the cheaper side

Cons:
- With its 3500mAh battery you can run for 4-5 hours but you cannot charge while the device is turned on and its a slow charging device (4 to 5 hours)

and the fact that it as 1gb of ram, (I have a win10 tab with 1gb of ram which is fine btw) but I wouldn't by a tablet/phone with 1gb now though, 2gb + would be a more pleasant experience. just my personal preference with my tablet I own. each to their own though.
I think people are voting cold as every Amazon Prime deal is being posted up here which is just pointless....
I don't think people like these very much. Leaving comments when voting cold to say why might be an idea

How do they compare with a Cougar. I had one approach me in my younger years. She worked very fast indeed haha.

It's useless for attempting to maximise the miniscule onboard storage via HEVC, its simply unwatachable with multiple dropped frames, stuttering, freezing and audio drop outs.Seriously believe me they are very very very fast, I hope someone will back me up on this.

"Very fast" besides being questionable, is nothing to do with decoding ability. This device has a CPU that cannot decode HEVC, period.

If you're OK with streaming full-fat bandwidth, don't have a congested network, rarely download-then-play and/or have no interest in reducing media storage requirements by circa 50% whilst not sacrificing quality, it might not have any impact on you.

Well...popped in an SSD, updated to the latest Windows 10 and this thing flies. Well worth the effort.
thanks for the tip about windows 10.

Firsty, updating to windows 10 was a nightmare using the windows 8 to 10 upgrade.
Downloaded windows 10 on another PC to a USB stick and tried again.... Magic.
Windows 10 works a lot better and love the "project to" feature. Now we can miracast android to this and it's great.
Opening the smaller panel at the back requires removal of the small screws and popping open with a small flat screwdriver using the available indents in the side.
This gives access to the ram and battery.
Opening the rest of the bigger screws and popping open the white back panel beginning at the indents on the outside and working your way all the way round, gives access to the hard drive.
Once our SSD arrives I'll see if the effort was worth it.
Don't make the mistake I made of trying to remove the motherboard and not taking pictures of how it all goes back together.
Not looking forward to reassembly.
All in all, it was well worth the purchase especially as it can be opened and components swapped.
Might put a better WiFi/Bluetooth card in and there is space for a bigger battery.
