DECDEAL4 for the 7450 is actually 30% when used. Just picked one up for £279.

It'll likely be worth putting in an SSD. My Lenovo laptop became a slug, boot times were easily 5 minutes, despite trying everything to make it more acceptable. Installed an SSD and if it takes 30 seconds now, that's possibly a conservative estimate. I'm going to do the same with my desktop. Just waiting on the SSD coming in the post.

I have £120 to spend on a laptop for my son who's 12. It will mainly be used for homework. Can anyone point me in the direction of a decent used one for my money please.

Did anyone get an email confirmation?

Well somebody must have liked them as they are all gone now. Hope it helped. I'm a big fan of HUKD but I think sometimes people forget that all we all want is some good value and bargains. I was watching this item on eBay for £99 for a few weeks debating if I should buy it or not and today it dropped to £79. So i got one. It's got 12 month warranty with a reputable seller so I'm covered. For me, that is a good deal. Agree you can spend a bit more and get better spec refurbs etc. Over and out - I'll expire

Sorry, I keep hitting the "Z" instead of the "X" on this keyboard; usually I notice, but had a customer come in and missed it before posting. Point is, this is little more than a one trick pony that isnt going to cope at all well in the long term, whereas something like the X220 isnt that expensive and has the cpu power and upgrade potential to keep going for the next 10 years. i had a "cheap n cheerful for browsing" Asus machine, and it was slow from day one, and only got slower; this weighs 0.4KG more and is about 40 times as powerful.

This may help:

I doubt it. There is no such product. If you meant an X220 - its a completely different product. The point about these is the size and weight. There isn't very much available with this footprint at any price with beefy specs. You don't need them if its primary purpose is a bit of browsing. I'm a fan of refurb Thinkpads and had an earlier variant with similar characteristics. Great machine but no replacement for my venerable Samsung Chromebook. When that croaks I may replace it with something like this or the HP Stream running Linux Mint XFCE.

Should be ok for an eleven year old in school!? Or think I should just pay more now rather than buying this?

Apparently the only type of laptop certified for use on the international space station.

+1 If ever theres a thermonuclear war, afterwards all that remains will be cockroaches and thinkpads. (highfive)

Broken=no longer working, therefore cracked =/= broken. Unless you can find a better machine for less, i dont really see why you're criticising this? Personally, i'd spend a bit more and get one in better nick, and stick in a cheap SSD, BUT if someones not that fussy about the odd crack in the plastic then it is (was) a great deal.

Had a t420 for 5 years , steel hinges , windows 7 core i5 , 1366x768 unfortunately , cost £130 off eBay , mint condition , recently bought a Lenovo mini dock for it £ 15 shipped eBay , brand new , ThinkPads last FOREVER x

*Cheap laptops professionally refurbished at ITZOO Bit of glue, acrylic paint and a professional furniture repair wizard could've made it as good as new.

wow very good keyboard for the price

Wow. I wonder how far back they will reimburse? Remember getting a watch that was at a good price. Then it dropped another 20 or 40 quid a few weeks later and it really nagged my mind.

Will this work with an Xbox? My new logictech one, but want mouse and keyboard together

I wish I had a time machine :p maxmix

I messaged amazon support and told them i bought it for 20 in sept. They refunded me the 9 quid difference.

What's the 10% off code?

Can this take a graphic card

Struggle? Nah mate, 2nd gen (Sandy Bridge) CPUs are way more capable than you might think. The HDD is the biggest bottleneck and as always it's an SSD that will make the single biggest difference to the performance and responsiveness, more so than RAM (sure, memory does matter but it's impact is less dramatic than storage type). There's a lot of mileage left in the early generations of Intel's Core i-series CPUs offering bargains-a-plenty for the canny buyer, and this would make a great 1080P play-it-all media centre/HTPC for the price.

It's exactly the same cpu and hdd as the sold out version, just has less ram which can be easily sorted.

Worse. At 4gb, 2nd gen CPU and HDD it's going to struggle to do anything more than basic office tasks and web browsing.

Well as in the last 10 years we have never got any more than 1MB of net where we live as there is no fibre I dont think it would be an issue, BT told me the line can only handle a maximum of 2MB so these dongles are very good, can handle 10 times more than the BT line.

Good price while it lasted!

Id buy that now if it wasnt for the 24pin module in the way! Can you link me to the seller please.

Good price!

These cheapo cards won't work for anything above 20MB of net speed.

Something like this. He uses the smaller form models which restrict the gpu choice but others were replacing the psus. My son's pc is a small form factor one with 750ti (my old pc)

There are quite a few on ebay. I hace bought three pc's that way (mine, my son's and the one I keep at my parents') thid way. Ex corp and just upgrade gpu (and sometimes ram and processor). There are a few ebay videos on them. Main issue is real budget builders strip out the psu and put their own psu in to get an older and cheaper gpu. Modern gpus don't need a better power supply so are more expensive. I have yet to replace a psu and instead bought a workstation for my own pc which had a monster psu. So if you want to use a powerful gpu then you need to research the buult in psu and how easy it is to replace But if you are happy with a 750ti 1050 or 1050ti nvidia or rx460 rx560 amd you will be fine. I google games and graphics cards on youtube and you will ser benchmarks for them I will try and find the best video that shows how it is done

1. Absolutely. The processor still rocks. 2. Yes but you need a gpu see above posts!

I didn't unfortunately, they sold out pretty quickly. Will keep an eye out, maybe more units will come in.

Would this be any good for either two uses: 1. Use as an office pc. Running a lot of spreadsheets, viewing pdf, DWG and 3d models. Or 2. running for a kid to play online games on Roblox etc?

I did some digging and found it does have AES-NI :D Would just need to add a USB network adapter that work with BSD - I have a couple I could have tried. Too bad it is OOS :(

The one thing I will say for the DP is that at least on mine the port is a fraction too far recessed in, so that you have to really force the adapter in hard and it doesn't always make the connection forcing a reboot. Add the weight of the adapter onto relatively heavy HDMI cables and the port gets a little loose over time making the connection a bit more fragile.

no problem. its brick and mortar store in coventry city, bought it two years ago after finding it on ebay. got it from store for £50 cheaper than ebay :D brill machine - just make sure you'll get version with at lest two usb3.0 ports.

Thats really helpful - thank you :) Its out of stock now so I'll have to keep my eyes peeled. Fone store? More details please if possible? This is why I love HUKD! Thank you

one screw to open and you're lucky - i'm using it for photoshop and lightroom (PS not advanced user). it works very well, can't complain. ask me any specifics if you want? i bought mine second hand from fone store and it came with lenovo warranty for another two years. support even once remoted in to check for drivers.

Great game, amazing price. There's also a board game of the same name, significantly more expensive but just as good.

That's similar to the metacritic user average: Reviews: This War of Mine Metacritic: 83% (62 critics, 8.4 from 778 users), Steam: Overwhelmingly Positive 95% (41033 reviews)

They broke Homeworld 1 in the re-master, how units act etc isn't the same as the orginal. Many hours spent climbing the ladder in 1v1's and 2v2's back in it's time (BiB, SLS, PSA, OWA clans etc), went back wanted the same experience and it wasn't unfortunatly. It's worth a purchase though just for the Single Player.

Yea it had a great soundtrack. The game is a steal at this price, I paid full price for the remaster and wasn't disappointed.

Yeah me too, im not actually sure i ever completed this game, but very fond memories, seem to remember it having a kick *** soundtrack too......

I'm praying for homeworld 3 to get released.

Still can't get over the fact the Argos ebay store were offering a similar specced Grade A refurb with 12 months' warranty for half this price only 4 days ago. As this has by far been the best laptop deal of late, anything else is such a huge disappointment. Sorry for anyone else that missed out on it too!

Yep, and a 1050 will be able to get at least 50-60fps on high settings.(See this test, which is running a much weaker processor too!) A 1050ti is usually only ~20% faster than a 1050, so it should run well no issues, especially if you turn more demanding settings down like shadows.

Isn't it tho... I'm flipping between two computers here like a breeze cracking little keyboard :D Really taking to the round keys - I find it easier to locate the right key blind (by feel) vs other small keyboard I've owned it's easier than the Apple Wireless

Just landed, what a great little keyboard, easily paired with laptop/phone/PS4.. really happy so far. :)

I've just binned a 2nd microsoft arc keyboard which I believe to be superior (for typing and comfort) to the one on the link above. Both developed keys that wouldn't work and could not be fixed by usual methods. Just got the K380... getting to know the round keys.. feels nice to type on - I'm a touch typist. I like the weightyness of it, had a bit of weirdness pairing with an old Mac Pro, but sorted that, and really love being able to switch between machines with passing keyboards back and forth as I did before. It's smaller than my old (broken!) Apple Wireless keyboard... Thanks OP really chuffed so far (highfive)
