Its a good phone, I have it. Bought on offer for 190 a few months after launch. Xiaomi killed this model soon after launch as it under cut the mi 6/7 series if you were willing to sacrifice on the chipset. If you care about nfc with a snapdragon phone, your options are limited at this price range.

dreadzone101

The Redmi Note series is mid range whereas the Mi Note series is upper-flagship range. The Mi Note 3 was released Sept 2017 but is the most recent of the Mi Note series. This 6/128GB variant would have been over £300 at launch. Similar specs to Redmi Note 7. Mi Note 3 has NFC though, but lacks 3.5mm jack and microSD.

amour3k

Funnily enough, I'd initially also dropped the ball (like that of one or two others) and read the Xiaomi Mi Note 3, and somehow STILL assumed Xiaomi Note 3 instead?, hehehehe), so yeh, it's veryyyyy easily done?. :-D

InkBlotTest

It's possible but I can only speculate. I'm not too familiar with either phone so I don't know if their antennas accept different bands or if the reception is just better in one phone than the other.

lovenuts

One of the reasons for asking was I have a Huawei 8x and my friend has a Huawei p10 lite they were on EE and I'm on virgn we were stood next to each other they got 4g signal and I had edge and wouldn't load the same web page? So I thought it might have something to do with bandwidths on the devices?

Xiaomi phones seem to have a problem using Android Auto now. You have to have the app open that you want to use to get it to work. Anybody finding this?

milne6

I dont get this site.. 2 weeks ago this phone was posted from same seller slightly more and it got to 210°, and in march it got to 316° for £50 more and from a chinese website - Gearbest (so could get import tax and long delivery times) This is a great price and cheapest its every been is £198.. but now its stone cold?

sharzam1

According to techradar you need to go for the 128GB model to get all the global LTE bands. The 64GB model is the budget option which includes less bands and ram.

Was going to go for one of those too, depends on personal preference really the mi mix has a lot better screen to body ratio but the fingerprint sensors on the back and the cameras at the bottom, both are great for what they are

wasp90uk

Just pressed the button on a mi mix 2 6gb from the UK for £267 should i of gone for this instead?

Proveright

It us an urban myth running down the cameras of Xiaomi phones, nay sayers should look at their apps. The cameras are great. There are loads of free camera apps out there, you just have to experiment which one is best for you. My own experience with a screen protector on,is in sunlight outside you cannot see, the screen clearly. However the photos are great, and that includes using zoom apps, as well as addons like fish eye lens and macro, etc.

CopaceticAnswers

People saying the camera on this is bad but the selfie camera is one of the best going :/

Curved glass is beginning to be a turn off for me. Can't get tempered protectors to fit. As it happens, I've got a curved screen, I'm just going bareback. Hot for the deal though.

mozzer_Morris

I wouldn't gamble this amount of money on a purchase from gearbest. If you need to return it or even DOA, you have pain to come...3 months of it. Use PayPal as a backstop if you must buy it from them.

matt101101

I probably should have typed it out in full, it's the standard 'code' for Chinese currency, like GBP for Pound Sterling or USD for US Dollars. No, this isn't better than a Note 8, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper. It's internals are basically flagship 2016 specs, similar to a OnePlus 3T, Galaxy S7 or original Pixel.

mok123

I was tempted by this, no band 20 put me off as i use my phone abroad on a regular basis and would like to have all bases covered. Can anyone recommend a similar xiaomi phone as a replacement for my galaxy S6. Something around the £150 mark.

Ross1

As someone who has this phone..... My main issue would be the curved edges of the screen. It means you end up constantly having to reposition your hands so as to avoid not touching the edge of the screen. The OLED screen isnt amazing either. The colours are dreadful on lower brightness settings, it has to be made brighter than you usually want just for the colours to make any sense. No microsd is a bit of a bummer. Do not be an idiot like me and think this phone will have one because you see its got dual sim slots. It doesnt feel all that great in your hand. The back is glass, so theres nothing to grip to. Ive never actually dropped it but still got a small crack on the back of the phone, no idea how it even happened. The headphone jack ive started to have problems with. Even just sitting down and remaining still the jack comes out of the socket enough for the phone to think its disconnected. Pros: It is pretty quick, theres a decent CPU in there. The battery is very good. miui is reasonable. Overall, Ive been disappointed with this phone. I previously had a moto x force which I thought was *fantastic*. Its basically been a significant downgrade for me.

I'd read about it yesterday. Those specs are amazing, but I genuinely don't see the point of a gaming phone. A phone, to me, is the worst platform for gaming and it seems a lot of money for the best version of the worst platform. That's just me though, although I read it had a clip-on thumb controller which could be interesting.

BUCKUM2

Don't know if you have seen the official launch info of the black shark it is now listed on the xiaomi mi.com site https://www.mi.com/blackshark/ full specs under paramaters heading. Price is excellent 2 versions 6gb /64gb for £335 and 8gb / 128gb for £391 comes with liquid cooling if you haven't already seen it have a look very impressive goes on sale on the 20th in China

captainbeans

That makes sense.

BUCKUM2

I think the reasoning behind that is that the leaked specs are very similar to the leaked specs of the Mi 7 like snap 845 screen inbedded fingerprint scanner 6 or 8 gb ram 18:9 oled screen and they are probably looking to charge a premium for it being a gaming based phone and they want to keep the very reasonable price of the MI flagships, anyway we will know more tomorrow They also announced today that the next major launch event of 2018 is to be on 25th April in Wuhan China the MI 7 hopefully

captainbeans

Aye, I'll not dispute the specs.

You need to.read up.a little more. A benchmark of 112649 in 2018 is well short of a SD820 Which was scoring over 150,000 2 yrs ago Click bait dude :D and you fell for it. If you had owned a SD820 powered device you would know that. How many CPU's do Intel and AMD make with different clock speeds are they the same? Pointless statement

realdeals

Lol a 636 is a 636, the difference is the end performance. What a ridiculous statement. 660 is just short of SD820 636 is well short of SD820

EmptyArea

Yeah, hold off until after UK release, unless you like to live dangerously. I don't think there are any 660 or 636 SoC in UK sold phones, so the Nokia 7 Plus release is a big deal in that respect. I'd have still recommended the Nokia 6 as the phone to get if you were itching to buy something today, yeah the SoC is its bottleneck, but other than that it's premium (and I guess would resell well) but now you'd have to find a CPW store with it in stock as it's discontinued online.

I feel like all deals with phones missing B20 should state it so people not too familiar with all that aren't caught out. Have one, bought the 64 gb version on a deal from another chinese site for about 200 pounds 3 months ago. Great phone all. I'm on Three and lack of B20 is not an issue. Battery lasts a good 1-2 days, camera is pretty decent and screen quality is good. S660 is a good chipset and is not that far off in terms of day to day performance from the 835. If I had any complaints it would be that the speakers on this are pretty average.

I can't see B20, so presumably it is Chinese Market phone with Global Rom on top. It is also on eglobalcentral for £212.99 and it states exactly what I suspect, Chinese Market phone. Even says you have to install global rom yourself. The seller on banggood install Global Rom for you.

hotuk161

Yes, provide the link. Global Version needs to have at least the following UK frequencies: 800MHz (Band 20) 900MHz (Band 8 ) 1800MHz (Band 3) 2100MHz (Band 1) 2600MHz (Band 7) Which should cover you for full UK networks coverage (including full 4G with all operators) , according to this website: 4g.co.uk/4g-frequencies-uk-need-know/ Global ROM means multi language version of the OS without Chinese Market applications (but including GAPPS : Google Applications such as Play Store, Gmail, Google Calender, etc). What you want is the Global Version with above frequencies (comes with few more), and aGlobal ROM on top of it (OTA means regular over the air updates from Xiaomi who are usually good with patches and MUI updates).

Stating DXO as reputable is stretching it if you understand anything as to how they put their scores together. In a nutshell, they come across as scientific yet their weightings and ranking of categories is entirely subjective. That and they 'work' (get paid) with some manufacturers to miraculously have a full camera breakdown on that particular devices release date. Lifting an embargo you say? Nope... because they 'select' which devices to 'review' immediately. Look back at the Sony Z5 launch and how that camera was lauded as the best ever. Simultaneously Sony have billboard ads on release day boasting the best rated camera on a phone with a DXO logo on it. Of course, there were a lot of disappointed buyers when they use it to find horrendous shutter lag causing blurry shots, barrel distortion, chromatic aberration, noise, etc... all because this wasn't objectively assessed. An introduction to their dubious rankings:

Racial stereotype or not, he is probably, accidentally correct; of course the rickshaw may have a motorbike engine and front end welded to it; or it might even be a full on DESIGNED TukTuk. Of course, if there are only a few to collect, and it all weighs less than 50KG, they will probably send someone on a scooter; that is how my lost suitcases were transported from the airport to my apartment - a mere 30-40 miles or so; due to traffic, the 20mph scooter is usually faster than anything larger; once it gets into the city. You would not beleive some of the things I have seen being transported by scooter in China; 40ft flag pole anyone??

As Irishman says, no tracking in China; been there - got done for that. Outgoing parcels from the UK will be tracked until they arrive in China; after that you get nothing. Royal Mail honours Chinese Postal Service tracking, but the Chinese Postal Service doesnt honour Royal Mail tracking. If you sent it Fedex or DHL, depending on the service level, you might get tracking; but that costs more than the phone is worth. Even if it arrives in China within 48 hours (which is typical for RM), it can be weeks before Customs have finished with it; and what often happens is they slap a charge on it, so the seller refuses to collect it; eventually - around 6 months later the duff item gets returned to you. Also been there and had that happen. Even if the seller honours the return, the one time I had to do it with a phone (an Umi), the turnaround was 5 months; they already have your money, and only constant nagging will get them to do anything but sit on it.

'On his rickshaw'? Racial stereotypes? I think we're getting to the actual problem, now.

Does anyone know if this has Global ROM?

giridhart

Code still working?

delsaber

Maybe I've been unlucky. I just don't want to go down the whole warranty process if it involves sending the phone off for god k kws how long. I've had half a dozen issues with it so must be quite a few bits wrong with it.

chuffedfox

It's not so much that it "isn't enough", but it stands out when you're comparing the old not-even-flagship handsets to the Chinese assortments

I somewhat accepted the resolution argument at 720p, but really 1080p isn't enough for people now? Id rather have battery life than text in 4k.
