But (importantly for many) it does support B20. A proper global version of the 4 Pro would be perfect for me.

​its bigger, but higher spec and still small enough not to be a brick, the point being it's a better spec for a couple of £ more. stands to reason you should then be able to get this at a lower price especially for the international version with b20

Depends what it is. It looks like Microsoft and Samsung are having a bit of a race to bring a foldable screen to market which Apple will then copy a year later and claim they invented it.

when selecting the gold, it now says it comes with a new screen with a "normal screen edge". Any ideas what that means? No 2.5D curved glass?

i use the note3 on voda and tbh the speed the phone browses and vids play is spot on on 3g. the phones specs make the 3g experience spot on tbh.

The Xiaomi phones are good. But this deal is cold for me as: - China ROM instead of Global International ROM - 2gb/16gb when the 3gb/32gb represents better value and bang per buck and a better processor.

No update to Android 7. There's a lot of good phones and phablets around for a steal just now but just be aware you'll be stuck on Android 6.0.1 at best because they don't possess a chipset recognized by Google as sufficiently able to secure the phone to Android 7's strict demands. Nothing wrong Android 6.0.1 though - Android 7 appears to the user to be very similar on the devices I've seen it installed on - but no more android security patches means a year down the line you'll be open to attacks you otherwise wouldn't be, as rare as "attacks" on Android phones are atm. This is a bad time to buy a new phone if you want to run Android 7 on it - 7.1.1 is already running unofficially on many devices already - but is very buggy. If you're happy enough with 6.0.1 it's a great time to buy a new one. I really want a new phone but am gonna hang on until android 7 is more stable and get one with it pre installed and with guaranteed updates for at least two years.

Probably fine until all your data has been stolen, you've got to be absolutely mental to use one of their dodgy roms that will never get an update.

So I received this phone last week and was a little concerned about the unofficial ROM version 8.0.5.0.0 (MBECNGC). I would have liked to have installed an official MYUI version but after much googling and several brick reported devices I thought it safer to stay with the unofficial one. so far I have found it relatively bug free. How are others finding it??

News that Xiaomi are locking bootloaders is a double edged sword. Utter BS. It's clear from the description and MIUI version number that it's not the official ROM.

MIUI V8.0.5.0.0 is a dodgy Chinese customised developer version. Not the official ROM. Lots of information online about this including user feedback from people with that fake 3P version. Official ROM has 4 digits eg. 8.X.X.X, not 5.

This is a "China Only" phone and so it does not have things like Google Play. These have to be installed by rooting (so forget banking apps) and installing by modifying the ROM slightly. You will also not get updates. HOWEVER, as they are rooted, it is straightforward to install a new ROM (eg, the EU version if one exists for this phone). I bought my daughter a Mi4C about a year ago (another "China Only") which had the same limitations. I have now got her a 3S, which is an international version and this gets updates and can do banking (plus band 20). The old Mi4C was easily updated to CyanogenMod 13 in 2 steps as it was rooted.

From reviews I've seen, the redmi 3s prime seems to do better than the newer redmi 4 prime in camera n video ,,. I noticed they did release redmi 3s prime global version with band 20, but they haven't yet done that on redmi 4 prime! I'm not a gamer at all, but the newer redmi 4 prime has better screen I hear. What would u advice redmi 4 prime or redmi 3s prime (if u can still get it , I don't no!)? My usage is more multimedia music streaming, art, ECT,, so a decent listening experience is important, and a fluid device I guess, thanks for your help.

​the p9 is a very good phone and theae xiaomi redmi 4 and note 3 are very similar. with the p9 lite you'll get a slightly better camera and warranty. these tend to get you a bigger ROM and battery. being a tech junky I'd much rather buy a new £150 each year and keep a decent SIM only monthly cost rather than thousands for one top phone over 2 years.

Anyone looking for a decent phone. I've just got the ee deal on the huawei p9 lite and I'm amazed by how good it is. It's a replacement for the flagship android HTC 10 which broke and I'm honestly finding it a better phone. Bargain for £140. Super snappy and responsive. If it lasts I can't see myself spending silly money on a phone again.

Once this releases as international variant will be pulling the trigger!

Someone said you need to go mobile to get the warranty, this isnt true, I have NEVER used the mobile app, yet still got the new warranty. Search on AE is very hit and miss, even searching within results can suddenly "lose" loads of products that SHOULD be included in the search, or were there before you tried to re-order the list into lowest first/highest first etc.

Can only get it for £120 when following this HUKD link on a mobile. Same price as if I do it on a PC. I think it was on a "special new year offer" maybe?

Could you not just buy it now and then flash the Global ROM when it becomes available? Or is more required (e.g., hardware differences) to allow all Global features like Band 20 etc.?

I would recommend NOT purchasing until Global ROM is available. Look forward to the 4 Prime reviews, very much like Xiaomi smart phones esp. 5" version When Global ROM is available this may tick all the boxes - but not yet.

Because this phone only has a Chinese rom out, no global, the Chinese roms have no google apps at all and aren't fully translated to English. You can add google play/google services from the Chinese store but they don't integrate or work very well. Even with a proper Global rom many prefer Xiaomi.eu as it's translated better, more up to date and is has properly had the Chinese services stripped.
