Any recommendations on how to organise my apps? Imported from my old phone and seem to be all over the place, intermixed with the ones that came with the phone. Thanks.

I've always found Gcam lacking for me. Took many random pictures with OnePlus 7 Pro stock camera and Gcam and there was barely any difference, same thing on Mate 20 Pro.

I went there and saw it today too. The colour is still horrendous for me but the phone is very good value nonetheless.

Oh right and what is so good about that?

No mate, just downloaded an apk from XDA developers site, no root required.

Thank you

How long does delivery take my order is still on processing?

You are pretty limited if you're after 5G, and without checking all specs I'm unsure which are Dual Sim. But here's the 5g list I can think of available in the UK. LG V50 ThinQ 5G Samsung Galaxy S10 5G Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G Huawei Mate 20 X 5G Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G OPPO Reno 5G OnePlus 7 Pro 5G

@MrSwitch you insight into mobile phones is very impressive and much appreciated. Being a Neanderthal when its comes to adopting change, Im finally thinking of moving from Apple after 10 years. The brand is expensive and lacked real innovation since Jobs died, and the competition is no longer poor quality. Ive been waiting a couple of years for them to bring out a wow phone, but not going to happen and my 6s Plus is no longer fit for purpose. I want a dual sim (personal and work), preferably with 5G if Im going to have it for 2-3 years. I cant find anything that ticks both boxes. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Pick of the day on Monday 16th - mi8 128Gb variant, £264 through their app for first buyers

Do you get notifications to the side of the notch or is there not enough room?

How do you get this deal ?

I normally go off a phone pretty quick, the niggles start to annoy me, but hasn't happened with the Xiaomi MI 8. I put it alongside an iPhone XS Max in Carphonewarehouse, to compare the amoled displays and the default colour balance had a slight tinge of blue on the MI8 (which can be adjusted to match in the settings), but the difference between the displays was marginal. Bezel thickness down the edges is similar, notch is almost identical to iPhone. Brightness of the screen, outdoors is very good, maybe not Samsung 10 standards but fantastic for the price. NFC is really useful, fingerprint sensor is accurate and instant, a light touch and you're in, but the best feature is by far the QC4.0 Charging, this phone charges so quickly, if it drops to 40% late in the day (pretty heavy use), a quick 30 minute charge and it's back to 100. The software has been fully updated regularly, dark mode is just bliss to use, very slick and the camera does eveything I need. I've had some fantastic shots from it. It's been in and out of my pocket and the screen hasn't scratched (though I do try to avoid keys in there). Really don't understand the negativity, I think it's still one of the best all-round phones available.

Great phone, using now!

Panel gave me headaches, returned mine to JL. Don't get me started on its sar values, you are better off with the mi 9, lower SARS, also doesn't throttle compared to the mi 8.

Higher price for a refurb than they were selling new is not a great deal.

Currently waiting the 168 hours to get my bootloader unlocked and am.putting on a ROM in a couple of days. Fantastic device I just don't like Miui. Still a bargain at this price, great screen, decent camera, speaker, battery life, IR Blaster, FM Radio, and hopefully great performance on the ROM (I think it will be)

I thought Android one was just the program to guarantee updates? It's still 'pure' android?

Had this phone since October, no problems at all, may upgrade to Redmi note 8 soon, but I really like the wife's Redmi note 7 as well.

I got one of these for my son last September, he's had zero problems with it. Get the monthly security updates relatively quickly and everything about it is great, especially for the price. So much so that we bought another one in November as a spare phone, my daughter had a mi A1 too and that's also been an excellent phone.

There is a massive flaw with how notifications are handled on this phones (mi 9 global versiob). Notifications don't stay on the status bar, you will need to swipe down to see if you've missed any. Other than that, for the price it's a great phone.

Any issues with gearbest? I have only bought cheap stuff from them before, i would pay with Paypal, what about the gearbest insurance?

@MrSwitch - it's that time again! looking for a budget phone for my niece. Happy with a refurb. Around or sub £100 mark. Any suggestions? G7 play seems to be coming up but feel I might be able to get something better from yesteryear as a refurb? Happy with any brand but don't want to import. Thanks!!

When it drops to 250 I'll finally buy myself the blue version.

In French but reading the comments suggest that the reviewer prefers the dreame.. I don't think it's a less powerful model, maybe even slightly more powerful than the F8, but has less accessories to keep it's cost down. I'm still slightly edging towards the F8 due to the hard floor roller, and the majority of my house has hard floors. Also considering a robotic vacuum cleaner.

I'm hoping to buy one also, I thought the dreame v9 seemed like a lower model? But it's hard to find a decent comparison. Let me know which one you go with

Reading the reviews says some people who went really cheap didn't get accessories, also I think there's a slightly inferior model (F8E or something).. The xiaomi Dreame V9 seems similar price and possibly slightly better according to some reviews.

Think there are other sellers with similar price Hard to tell if model is same and whether it includes all the accessories etc

Went to buy it but it's gone up in price.

Bought one last year and works perfectly as my room upstairs internet connection is awful. This settled the problem.

Yeah stay away from repeaters. Stick to powerline or mesh devices. This, however, would be good for anyone with a WiFi drone to extend range

Worked great with my old SR101 sky box (wireless G). Unfortunately it doesn’t work with anything above g (n, ac, etc). Did it work? Yes it boosted the signal and work as a WiFi booster.

Excellent Oh wait... AliExpress

Just a bit of friendly info, these don't work with Sky Broadband (i don't know about SkyQ) if that helps anyone, Although, if you know different, let me know!

Eglobal sorts import fees before the order hits the customer's doorstep, whereas with Gearbest HMRC may come knocking on the same door demanding £65, plus £10 admin fee if HMRC can't be bothered to collect its £65 in person and delegate a courier instead.

Good for anyone in Northern Ireland as eglobal charge £25 for shipping. Gearbest is free. So for the Blue Mi 9t Pro on eglobal its £345. I went with this deal as its almost £50 cheaper for only a little less storage.

Probably not getting much early heat as 128gb version only £6.50 more on a MrSwitch deal for eglobal.

Bought my mi 9 off these guys. Quick UK delivery, no issues

The front camera falls apart when direct light is hitting it from the sun or lights because the light reflects into the pop up camera.

Thats interesting. My GCSE german isn’t up to date - are the ones on amazon DE/ES etc the global version? How much price difference is there compared to banggood etc?

Can I just ask, I keep looking at this one but is the front facing camera as bad as they say??

Quite sure these guys are selling Asian versions from within the UK. Amazon ES/IT/DE/FR has it for pretty much the same price but at least you’re guaranteed full UK warranty.

I think it may be yeah (y)
