Father's Day Sale - 40% Off any Desktop or Laptop for 48 Hours ONLY Coupon Code: DELL4DAD Offer ends 12pm 18/06/2019

Deal works with 7440 i5 with 256 ssd and 4gig of memory not a full HD screen but has HDMI out so can be used with a separate screen. Price after code £215.40 delivered. Got one of these before Christmas for the other half, only marks were 2 small grazes on the lid Keyboard and screen like new, ex Carillion machine.

Not a fake site. The site is operated by Dell Financial Services, which is a huge part of Dell. So, it's owned and run by Dell.

It's not Dell, it's DFS (Dell Leasing) which is a separate company and has nothing to do with Dell UK. Each item has had at least 3 years of use. They sell with 6 months warranty (I wonder why?)

sorry but the majority of these laptops can be picked up cheaper even after the code is applied.

This is Dell's site for off-lease stock.

Can't you just put the windows 7 key into windows 10 still? You could a few months ago. If you want to go down that root of course. It does mean installing some drivers I expect.

Shame Dell did not just donate them to a charity for redistribution to good causes. Microsoft is withdrawing Windows 7 Support in November this year. The charge for a full retail Windows 10 Home is £90-110 so I would say Dell would have done some good by upgrading the OS - they pay peanuts for Win 10 So these deals are sub zero to me

This is an official Dell site. It is operated by Dell Financial Services, a huge part of Dell.

Is this actually anything to do with Dell as it's very old stock and the Dell refurbished site is called Dell Outlet? (confused)

I'm never going to find a suitable computer for graphic design ;(

The ‘best’ Latitude there is a 3 year old 7270... that’s not a bad thing, the 7270 is nice and well specced but I was hoping to see a 7290 or so.

Dell refurbished resells machines which have come off a lease. I bought 2 small form factor desktops recently - i5 (4th Gen) 8gb memory and a 256gb ssd. They are fine for day to day browsing and office work and both looked brand new and were £179 each.

Ah, right. My mistake. I had no idea that such a site existed. Thought that anything that is 'Dell refurbished' is the Dell Outlet.

This isn't Dell Outlet. Its Dell Refurbished UK. Two totally different sites. So, as one would expect, the codes won't work on a different site.

Perhaps the title should mention that this is for Refurbished Dell Laptops

I don't, sorry. But it's worth keeping an eye on the site and on the coupon/discount sites. As they do seem to change a lot. Alienware seems to be a bit of a rarity however.

Do you know how often they refresh their discount codes? This would be an ideal system :)

Nah, these will generally last many years without any major hardware problems. Clock cycles is just (broadly speaking) how fast information can be processed, and won't affect the longevity of devices unless they have been severely overclocked and pushed past their thermal design power (tdp), causing damage via overheating. Even then, most devices can detect overheating and automatically shutdown to prevent damage. I would definitely go for a refurb if it's significantly cheaper - like this deal. The only thing that might wear after many year's use is the battery, which is easily replacable. But this is the latest model, barely a year old, so it should have plenty of life in it yet. It may not even have been used for a few months! Besides, it has a year warranty.

I'm currently in the market looking for a similar speced Laptop. Question is: can you trust refurbs? If the clock cycles on the components are high, then the system will soon have a failure and you'll have to find a new laptop?!

I imagine the lack of a dedicated GPU is what's putting most people off.

I totally agree. Sometimes people's expectations on this site on what a deal really is, baffles me (shock) Particularly around refurbed kit.

Great price if you're after an XPS, even if it is a refurb. Anyone enlighten me on the cold votes?

My son's XPS 13 died after 2.5 years, sadly, and the motherboards (known issue...) are £500! Have gone for and XPS 15 from the outlet as there were 11 of them; i5 models which they no longer sell on the main site, so I am assuming that these are all new and being cleared. Managed to get 15% off with university code (there is a Unidays 14% code for the main site) so pretty good deal. Hopefully this will last longer. Sadly, I also bought a desktop for work and that had the engineer out to replace the motherboard after 3 days. Told him the problem was with the CPU, so now the machine has been shipped to Germany for repair.

Thanks. Agree the CPU is good. But, I understand from the previous comments above, this laptop's build quality is not that great.

2019 model already released for the XPS 13. Next 2-in-1 model will probs be around June (Computex).

The i5-8265u is a cracking CPU, faster than a lot of recent i7's and it's a quad core.

Many thanks for the heads-up. (y) It's very useful

They’ve increased the reduced prices before this discount. Very sneaky.

Discount was 14 percent from 1 to 4 March. Before then they had 30 percent off gaming laptops til end of Feb. Sneaky!

I’ve also noticed a monitor I was eyeing up has jumped in price. It’s a deal on here previous, the S2719DGF. Literally saw the cache update on my pc to show a new inflated price and with discount code is above what it used to be!

Looks like they've raised the prices on several laptops overnight. I thought that it was illegal to raise prices immediately before advertising them as discounted?!

Its a shame they have now increased the price of new XPS 13. It was 1449 yesterday and now UP!

Unfortunately have to agree here. Also sending mine back. Wasn't offered any money though! I had an issue with the screen which was fixed at my home by an engineer next day, however it wasn't before he broke the mousepad and didn't put the thing back together properly! Found the speakers to be too quiet for my needs and I can't get over the ghosting on the screen. Will probably wait for the new Matebook X Pro.

Returning mine. Screen flickers and fan is constantly on. Audio output control is horrendous too. Funny thing, when I phoned to return it they offered £150 off if I keep it. It was still within 14 days cool off period. Someone might try this trick to get some money off. Now I've got MacBook pro 13. No issues what so ever. Xps is a nice machine but flawed.

I think having done that first it might have worked but they now have all the service tag details and faults reported. Also I do not agree having to pay anything at all for this fault to be fixed as I know 100% it is inherent in the board and wasn't my fault.

FHD lets it down

Having used dell for years thisay benof use to someone. Few years back, my alienware was just out of warranty by a few weeks and died completely. I got in touch with their warranty dept requesting an extension to what was an expired warranty. They were at the time doing a 30% promotion so it was about £200 for a new 2 year on site warranty. They asked if there was anything wrong with the laptop to which I told them no, even tho there was. Warranty was then extended and a few days later phoned tech dept and engineer sent out following day with new gpu, motherboard and daughter board which sorted it. This is the best method if you're just out of warranty as cost of a new warranty will likely be less than the cost of repairing it yourself. Hope it helps.

What about on a 15 inch... would the battery life be better

I got about 5 hours on my XPS 4k model doing basic web browsing/youtube. It's a lovely panel, but unnecessary on a 13 inch IMHO. My 2015 Macbook is great, but showing age now. I will upgrade, but waiting on the next Apple MBP design I think unless something goes bang.

Yeah i was debating on dell xps especially 4k...and wasnt too keen on mac book as in the latest as i think the 2015 models were the best? Even though newer ones are higher spec the loss of ports is big for creativity. If apple did consider bringing the 2015 style back which i doubt id probably go with of noew i feel its more about Spector or surfacebook 2 but dells screen blows them away...cant win really Power wise i think surface book Nice touch with the pen and dial Reliable probable macbooks Just not worth it if you have to pay for so many adapters in my opinion Hp not perfect either Dell best screen definitely something i want If surfacebook 2 had a screen like dells 4k id be sold...but then im sure the power battery life would take a hit. So maybe in this generation today it is what it is especially based on price too

XPS are poorly designed. Literally get faulty ones come in batches weekly...

Defintely pot luck. If you get a device thats been assembled correctly its gonna be a bargain buy. But the risk from the Amazon feedback makes me decline making the plunge.

Read my post above, the xps is fairly easy to service to be honest(Im very experienced but a competent amateur could service these) A few torx screws on the bottom to access, main and daughter board has most stuff soldered so the boards usually need changing if any issues with ram/CPU etc. All other stuff is easily accessible and changeable, I've become better than the outsourced dell home service technicians at these. They always left the inside cable routing a mess, rounded most of the screws and nipped some wire insulation which I replaced/fixed myself with genuine parts.

The XPS have really nice screen and the small form factor of the 13" is fantastic alongside with a very comfortable keyboard. However the camera is in a weird place on this model, the bezel is flimsy, the lack of connectors is underwhelming as is the lack of proper dock and the small size means it is NOT servicable by end user.

Thanks, I'll take a look (y)

Have you considered the XPS 15 9575? It's the "2-in-1" version of the XPS 15, but it's a lot lighter and thinner. And you get the same res screen as with this XPS 13. It uses a different chipset to the XPS 15, but even the i5 is a very good chipset, with Vega graphics that are a lot faster than the Intel UHD graphics on the i7 in the XPS 13. Depends what you're doing really, but if you are prioritising the screen for graphics and creative work, then the faster GPU could be better for you than the marginal (10% ish) speed increase of the i7.

To be honest, I'd prefer a 15" 4k in the ideal world but struggling to find one with similar (relatively speaking) weight and price. So if you have any suggestions... (y)

Yeh the 16gb model is 400 quid over priced. Not had a look at skins yet. But definitely need one

Sorry I'm confusing myself now! just checked my Amazon order, it WAS the i7 I got but only 8gb ram £1299, I wanted the 16gb but everywhere was selling it around £1800. After playing with mine, I doubt I would need 16gb. I mainly bought it for 3d modeling on SketchUp and running DJ software but I haven't actually done either yet. Have you seen the d brand skins for these devices? I think I may wrap mine in some, although there's cheap ones from China I may try (banggood and AliExpress)

Would also like a link, please. Would buy the Huawei over the Dell if still available at that price.

Yeah the customer support could be a worry but I hope huwai are well established enough now, I've not seen any bad reviews for huwai build quality, pretty much the opposite, every youtube reviewer gushed over it. Personally I'd still be happy with 1080 (or equivalent for the 3 by 2 aspect) on a small 13" laptop, mainly to save on battery but I don't have/use any 4k content. That said I'm loving the screen on mine, picture is awesome the bezels are none existent, goes incredibly bright but can be used comfortable at around 20% indoors. The thing powers up very fast, the fingerprint reader reads your nose picker as soon as you press the power button unlocking instantly. I ummed and ahhd for weeks over which laptop to buy, nearly went for the Lenovo yoga c930 hp spectre x360 or elite x360. There's loads of reasons why I chose this over others but the dedicated graphics card sealed the deal for me I would've loved this in a 2 in 1 form factor but I hardly ever used my last 2 in 1 laptop in anything other than laptop mode. I'm currently playing civilization 6 on it, the base is warm and the fans are constantly running but the game is running perfectly.

Have you got a link for that price please? I only found the 16gb version from dodgy looking sites or over £1800 on Amazon.

Illustrator? Really... that's worrying. I'm wondering if I should spend less on an equivalently specced Lenovo Ideapad 720S 14 (except for UHD).

I use all of the above sometimes but mainly illustrator and was even getting some lag using illustrator. Nearly went for the surface book but thankfully saw the X Pro before buying. Been looking to buy it since September but availability has been next to none.
