I know - I got 3. One for me, one for my wife, one for my 6 year old. Wait.... now I don't need to use HotUKDeals anymore. Bye everyone, thanks for everything...

Yes it’s just pocket change £1419

By time I got to end of the posts I forgot why I came in! All I see is Huawei!

Yeh the 16gb model is 400 quid over priced. Not had a look at skins yet. But definitely need one

Sorry I'm confusing myself now! just checked my Amazon order, it WAS the i7 I got but only 8gb ram £1299, I wanted the 16gb but everywhere was selling it around £1800. After playing with mine, I doubt I would need 16gb. I mainly bought it for 3d modeling on SketchUp and running DJ software but I haven't actually done either yet. Have you seen the d brand skins for these devices? I think I may wrap mine in some, although there's cheap ones from China I may try (banggood and AliExpress)

Would also like a link, please. Would buy the Huawei over the Dell if still available at that price.

Yeah the customer support could be a worry but I hope huwai are well established enough now, I've not seen any bad reviews for huwai build quality, pretty much the opposite, every youtube reviewer gushed over it. Personally I'd still be happy with 1080 (or equivalent for the 3 by 2 aspect) on a small 13" laptop, mainly to save on battery but I don't have/use any 4k content. That said I'm loving the screen on mine, picture is awesome the bezels are none existent, goes incredibly bright but can be used comfortable at around 20% indoors. The thing powers up very fast, the fingerprint reader reads your nose picker as soon as you press the power button unlocking instantly. I ummed and ahhd for weeks over which laptop to buy, nearly went for the Lenovo yoga c930 hp spectre x360 or elite x360. There's loads of reasons why I chose this over others but the dedicated graphics card sealed the deal for me I would've loved this in a 2 in 1 form factor but I hardly ever used my last 2 in 1 laptop in anything other than laptop mode. I'm currently playing civilization 6 on it, the base is warm and the fans are constantly running but the game is running perfectly.

Have you got a link for that price please? I only found the 16gb version from dodgy looking sites or over £1800 on Amazon.

Illustrator? Really... that's worrying. I'm wondering if I should spend less on an equivalently specced Lenovo Ideapad 720S 14 (except for UHD).

I use all of the above sometimes but mainly illustrator and was even getting some lag using illustrator. Nearly went for the surface book but thankfully saw the X Pro before buying. Been looking to buy it since September but availability has been next to none.

I think this is a pretty good price. States on the website it won't be any cheaper on BF.

I'll be waiting until after Christmas.

I've been looking at these for some time and the £1400 or so price is significantly more than it was previously (a few weeks ago). The £1274 price with the 15% off is coincidentally exactly the same as the price was when I checked. A massive con.

The new dell xps 13 with black Friday voucher bringing the total price down to £1359.14 from £1599 SPECS SHOWN BELOW

For those thinking of buying one (which I recently did) Id reccomend looking at dell's service plan. They've discounted the 4yr premium plus to only £153, which I thought was was great value for on site repairs and accidental damage cover.

Well I'm sure with the £7 saved you can build a time machine and buy one

This isn't cheaper than what was on offer in late September, in fact the same spec in Sept was £7 cheaper at £1332 #notimpressed

MS aggressively shut down any illegal companies. The biggish companies that sell the cheap licences, for Windows & office & games etc, like the established ones in hukd deals, are validating their batches before buying & selling with MS or other software firms. Windows-wise, they're not selling RETAIL licenses, they're selling OEM. Retail enjoys support including telephone from MS which costs MS, in India. OEM does not have any support, they're extracted from decommissioned OEM machines and hence cheap, corporate ex lease batches. On bootup, MS servers nowadays quickly detect if a serial is used elsewhere on another bios and deactivates that machine fast. It's not like the old days. They tried to legally stop OEM batch reselling, but it's deemed a commodity, paid for, and viable to resell. You can see if your licence is Retail or OEM in a pop-up box, launched with command: slmgr -dli

Back in day you could buy a cracked distributor account for 30 quid and generate hundreds of codes, stacks selling on eBay for few quid, being a licence from ms at 80 quid I highly doubt ms sell them for this willingly still

No that's the common misconception. I could go into it for a page or two. MS chases illegal key sellers, and they are shut down fast. There are others though that sell licenses for much cheaper than MS in large numbers daily in UK/EU. This niche industry is a legal business models. There are codes and can ask MS too. Also a serial already in use, will be flagged and will be deactivated by MS servers within a day or two. Most scammers either sell keys googled online, tons of them, or do not bother to send any before shutting up shop fast. The legal niche industry, takes awhile to explain. There are many deals on hukd for them too. They are not hijackers, they are old legal businesses.

The licenses are legit but gotten illegally, Microsoft have distributors account that get hijacked and codes taken, they have no way of tracking them, won’t have a problem just saying :)

Asus definitely a keeper, until Samsung Pro halves in price to around £200 on eBay. (excited)

That's exactly it, I find a lot of the ULV based devices are far too small to allow suitable cooling so they run hot and loud. I have a few Dell Core-M PC's (similar to the Y series) as they can run passively and don't get hot so they're far better suited to this type of design whereas the similar ULV PC's I find are irritating as there's a lot of fan noise and they run hot making them unpleasant when used on a lap. If I want performance, I'd go for a 35W or 45W processor as even the quad core ULV processors are poor performers for anything demanding despite the fact people now frequently believe the 5W processors are useless and the ULV processors are good for power users.

Xps's aren't widely marketed for gamers, it's not a gaming laptop, it's for content creators who need portability.

This chassis can barely handle the 1050 as it is. You need something a lot chunkier to keep the 1060 cool.

I looked into doing it with mine but didn't bother in the end. Seems like you'll run into a lot of issues with drivers and you'll need to replace the WiFi card. As far as I'm aware the 1050 won't work at all either. Depends what you need it for I guess.

i would steer clear, its only got a gtx 1050 4gb, you could possibly find a 1060 6gb for around this price which is twice as fast at gaming, then again this model is really sleek.

I have had a few refurbished off dell and a couple of Sony a few years ago. All have been as close to brand new as I couldn't tell the difference. All wrapped, keyboard protector, screen protector film, all accessories sealed bags and wire tied. The last one I bought I was sent updates on the build progress so at a loss as to how that would be a refurb. Only thing about the dell ones were that they were in plain non branded boxes. However, I am hearing a lot of unhappy people lately (maybe since they started shipping from china) So I'm in 2 minds again about the outlet, they are very good prices especially when they have 15 or 20% codes and a good xps is an excellent machine.

Wouldn't buy from Dell again as their warranty support for the outlet is terrible - indian call centre, very hard to deal with. I ended up getting my credit card company to refund as Dell would not help or take the laptop in for a repair. Remember that outlet laptops are being re-sold for a reason, many are brand new and many are junk Not worth the hassle.

Ordered the 5570 which is all I need for basic use. Good deal with the further 20% off. Came to £296.64 in the end. Very happy with that. Estimated delivery of up to 14 days seems a bit slow though considering it is refurbished and therefore in stock and doesn't need building. Quick update. Laptop came and looked new. However the trackpad/mouse had a life of it's own selecting items even when just moving over them. Sadly returned it for a refund. Dell dealt with collection and refund very well so no complaints there.

Shame there is only the base version in the outlet though!

Personally I wouldn’t touch HP or Lenovo for their laptop ranges, bad experiences with built quality with Lenovo, and driver/software support from HP is abysmal. Not to be accused of being a fanboy... but those MacBooks are worth the money! (lol)

The dell screen is supposed to be better than the macbooks. In terms of nits too. I didnt know about the precision range. Ill look into it What about Spector and x1 carbon Id add sb2 but minus nits Thanks for the advice

The obvious choice is a MacBook Pro (another 100% RGB screen) - there’s a reason they’re so popular with photographers and video creators. Failing that, the Dell Precision range uses the same screens, but both options are extra £££ :/

But if screen is a priority what would you choose for that, power and user-friendly. Ie photo/video edits Thanks

Because Volta is due out soonish, when laptops come out with 1160's, that's when you'll see the 1060 ones drop to the floor but until then it's make as much money off the things as possible.

I almost bought that one, but that's a whole kilo heavier and I'm not sure if the extra horsepower that I'll use maybe once, is worth the extra heft of it.

It will be better than an XPS for gaming and should do the 'all round' stuff fine. I haven't looked at this model as I want the bit-sturdier and more compact XPS. It is worth checking some reviews to see if it suffers from thermal throttling too badly - the smaller XPS does, but it becomes less of an issue the bigger you go (the Alienware in the same deal will be much better on that side, but is massively bigger/heavier too!)

Cheers. Do you think the G5 I sent is worth it for a good all round gaming and general laptop? Hoping to pick it up tomorrow

No: this is the one: The G series is more biased towards games. While the XPS doesn't have quite as good graphics card (1050ti) and is more of a business/premium/'do it all' option. Mine will be used for programming in multiple IDEs, WAMP server, *lots* of browser tabs and so on. I have a seperate PC for gaming, the little I find time for that! I definitely want 32gb RAM at least - hopefully the deal tomorrow will make it cheaper for me to get this and upgrade than to have bought the 32gb model in the first place. (Maybe get a bit back selling the 2x 8gb modules.)
