Do Dell charge a return, shipping or restocking fee if you choose to return refurbished laptops?

You need an Amex Credit Card and than add the deal to the card by logging into your Amex account.

How do you get the amex cashback? I don't see it on deals

Have you thought about changing the charging profile? I had a look at this yesterday as a result of this thread. You can set the laptop to only charge up to a max of 80% and then let it naturally discharge to 50% when on power. This avoids the battery being charged a tiny bit to top it back up to 100% all the time when on charge

Hi guys, The new Dell XPS desktops are actually pretty good value for money at the moment, here's an example of what you can get: Dell has done a good job based on the reviews I… Read more

totally agree. XPS systems are very poorly designed. actually it applies to Dell generally overall..

"Inventory is in stock and ready to ship" Very misleading statement as i would not call 3 weeks ready to ship, just cancelled my 3rd outlet order in a month and will be looking elsewhere now for my desktop replacement. Trying to get a straight answer out of Dell is nigh impossible.

Good spot @fringiee (y) Thanks for sharing!

Intention to and ability to are entirely different beasts at the moment with regard to PCs!

It's a 2017 MacBook Air, still got it actually. I've not tried the M1 Air and I'm sure it's a fabulous machine. That said, I don't miss MacOS and I can only reinstate that my XPS has been wonderful. No coil whine, the fan is rarely on and when it is, it's barely audible. Personally, when this gets passed down, unless I was totally invested in the Apple ecosystem, I'd choose another XPS in a heartbeat.

That depends what MacBook Air you're referring to, what screen option you went with on the XPS, and what you mean by "better". If you're talking about the 2010 MacBook Air then yes, the screen won't be as good as a modern laptop. If you're talking about the 2018 Macbook Air then its screen would look better than a 1080p XPS display, but not the 4K XPS display. However, the 4K screen on the XPS uses far too much power, so how much "better" it looks is irrelevant. I'm not doubting your experience, but it may be the case you personally can't hear coil whine. My parents couldn't hear my XPS coil whine at all, for example. I was aware of potential coil whine before I bought my XPS, due to a friend's XPS having it, and endless reports online, and lo and behold mine had it too. Coupled with the raft of other issues, there was no way I was keeping it, or wiling to risk a replacement. Conversely, I've never had an issue with any of my personal or work MacBook Pros at all. It's interesting that you went from an Air to an XPS though. I couldn't possibly go from an Apple trackpad to anything else now, never mind moving back to Windows. Also, do you not find the continual fan noise annoying on the XPS?

As always, individual cases might vary but my XPS 7309 has been faultless. Coming from a MacBook Air (not M1 though) the build quality is at least equal and the screen is substantially better. I'd recommend without hesitation.

No I'd say it's worse as that is the old XPS design. 16:9 is worse, worse speakers, keyboard and touchpad I believe. One more usb-c port and is lighter though

Is this worth the £160 upgrade from the XPS 13 (11th Gen): Looks to me like it's a slightly better screen and 1TB HD... Any thoughts?

Similar price tag though What would be an upgrade to it these days?

Of course it does, they're completely different size and weight classes

A price like this with such poor graphics doesn't seem like a great buy?

If you If you don’t mind me asking mate, what was it that you bought? I’m finding this level of service atrocious, as currently, I stand to wait 2 months to get what I ordered

Strange, I ordered from them on 25th March and was quoted delivery around 16th April yet it arrived yesterday!

Just so you guys now, I’ve been waiting for a PC since the 25th of Feb, and they called me yesterday to tell me it would have been at least another 3 weeks before it gets to me...all whilst it’s still “in stock” on their website! First and last time I’m buying from them .

If you buy a dell be prepared to change the cpu fan and paste, despite the marketing they always supply basic fans which cause systems to throttle. You might want to also get a new case for it too as the cases have terrible airflow and while i'm at it they are well known to supply 1 stick of ram for single rather than duel band memory and this is even if you specify 2 too. Power supply's are also dubious. I once bought a desktop with a GTX 1080ti and it was so under powered the system crashed. Dell did have a good solutions though, they advised me to turn cpu boost of which save some power and also then throttled the gpu as the cpu became the Bootle neck instead. Saying all this Dells are decent my wife loves her xps laptop and I used to have a alien ware alpha r2 which I kinda miss.
