any thoughts from someone would be very welcome
this pc or this one currys.co.uk/gbu….ds

need it for school work and probably some lego games etc

Nice bit of kit for the price, but yeah you'll get an extra sting of £40 or so for a new psu if adding a gpu.
Not to say that everyone will do that however. Hot+

Only a 250w PSU in this - so beware if you wanted to add a gfx card.

Totally agree but I don't think you will find a similar spec with a SSD for that price.

It looks liek it has been this price always though..

A quick look through the links above provided by I_love_crabs.
They seem to have general method here. I seems to involve opening the battery and replacing the cells.
hotukdeals.com/dea…e=9

A link was provided for Gearbest (still active) and AliExpress (does work anymore):
gearbest.com/bat…_de

This assumes it uses the same replacement batteries. If you opened it, you could check the cell model number.

I bought 4xindividual Samsung 18650 cells and fixed the battery. It was very straight-forward to do.Alibaba have batteries for this for around £25-35. I wouldn't hesitate to get another of these if it's as good as the last.

Bought one of these when they were £60 and it was a very nippy machine, exceeding expectations.

Replaced the cells in the battery for less than a tenner.

The only down side is that when the fan really kicks in, it is very loud.

Avoid like the plague soooo slow!

I bought one of these a year ago as new for same price , but very slow with screen lag .

I got one of these, it was a brick, just blue screen on start up, the company wanted to send their own courier to collect also which was very unusual, I delt with the whole return just by contacting ebay about it as they also didn't want to use the messaging system and opted to email directly, it was very suspicious.

I know a working replacement battery would make it a £100 ish machine. I think I can live with it as well no replacement seems possible. If I'd paid £150 or so I think it be going back though. However I never would of bought it at that price. It simply was cheap enough with no battery to have a good temp use for now and then to be downgraded in the future to a great media PC or other use.I'm not in tune with server use and how it works but I can't see how one can fit a internal drive in it so am guessing that is something else I'm not sure on.

i got a refurb dell t7500 (t5500 is smaller and should have got) for 160 from ebay. xeon e5630 processor which has passmark 4500 ish and 12 gb of ram. potential to upgrade to faster xeon and had massive psu for twin graphics in future. so lots of refurb bargains on ebay but this has amazon backing... wonder what max cpu upgrade is?

2220 passmark. so a weaker i3. can get refurb i3 on ebay for 110 to 120 and maybe i5 for this price. but here you have amazon guarantee. eould check psu but cpu bottlenecked by anything over a gtx 750ti anyhow? this plusb750ti for say 75 quid will do you 1080p gaming on low settings or maybe 720p 60fps maxed out.

quite a weak processor, weaker than many of the newer i5/i7 U chips but yeah it does have a decent level of graphics though doesn't say if GDDR3or5 which makes a big difference too

HI Piteudrica,
Well done you managed to install 14.2 Helix.
This box more to than capable ro play 1080. I have taken it off coz i unbale to get a 720 stream. MX player defaulted play.
MX player works well with Live stream APK.
PM me and work with me. Installed CM 10 JB 4.1 and AKOP JB V4.2.2 ( Roms work still testing)
I guess its not fare to add tech bits here.

Hi Guys,

I have got one box as well and figured out may has not been too bad after all.

I have installed ES File manager (you can move to SD) and removed all bloatware (Box is already rooted)
I agree with ABZY123 suggestion to not sign into google account/playstore
KODI 14.2 helix is running fine but live TV is not great even on SD. (sound is crackling)
I am now searching for any custom ROM and upgrade it to at least Android 4.4 (KitKat)

ZOOSTORM OWNERS
HI People,
I have purchased Zoostrom box.arrived few days ago.
Out of the 4Gb storage.about 1.5 Gb the OS.450meg is the space to install apps. 2Gb is storage.some apps can be moved to this space.
Got some anyyoying 3 apps ECloud share/DLNA/Share.
This keeps prompting to enter a registration code every time the device is booted.Googling the issue and got no fix.Even Zoostorm support dont have a clue.
BTW this box gets shipped out with the orignal ROM, to fix the issue of Ecloud registration, one blog/zoostorm support suggested to update the firmware. which i did . It became a bit more stable. minor bug fixed. but the Ecloud registration still didnt go away.
http://downloads.zoostorm.com/drivers/android/PlayBox/Play.pdf
Firmware
http://downloads.zoostorm.com/drivers/android/PlayBox/Zoostorm_Play_Box.zip

The only fix that got rid of the annoying registration box was to install EShareServer v1.2.2.apk.
http://android-apk.org/apk/com.ecloud.eshare.server/v1.2.2/personalchusmanu/eshareserver/

I have managed to play 1080 content form my USB Hd.and showBox 720P and plays well using its built on android player is the BEST of all.
Tested MX player and ARM codec also works well.
VLC is no go.
I would suggest not to sign into google account/playstore other wise the updates will kill the space.(450meg)
The only stable version of KoDi is 14.2 helix you can install.but it can only play SD content(not good) still working on this.
I am thinking to OverClock the box/still searching if there is custom Rom upgrade to kitkat ( this will fix alot of Apk compitibility parsing issues)
I have not tested PLEX, as i think it will work well through NAS or share PC/server.
Not bad for £15 as i have got it sing but not dance as yet.LOL
let me know if anyone has done any testing to improve the performance.
Hope this helps.

The audio will matter to my husband. Not to me though. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know which version will cope with his photo editing sadly. But the pre installed windows is a boon for me. Having to work out how to load would definitely be a thing to do without his lordship standing over me asking what I am doing. The reply being "I don't know but this might work". As for the SSD, to be honest - I think it makes sense to have space available to install apps and programs. He likes trying new ones all the time and never likes anything deleted even if he hasn't touched it for over a year.
But I shall leave it up to you more knowledgeable souls to rate it. I'll update the post with the additional specs I've gleaned from argos Q&A etc.

I'm at a loss of why this price is so HIGH.You can buy this at ebuyer: … I'm at a loss of why this price is so HIGH.You can buy this at ebuyer: http://www.ebuyer.com/662337-zoostorm-origin-desktop-pc-7260-3017 for £280. I bought it at the pre-Brexit price of £240. I added a 120Gb SSD for the OS & apps and use the 1TB drive for data. Brilliant and reliable. Something many Zoomstorm buyers echo. Whereas my 9 Dell Optiplex PCs all died eventually. This price has no OS which is great if you want it to zoom with Linux. If not, you can (ahem) get Win10 for a lot less than the difference if you really must have it. Your decision of where you budget. So cold I'm afraid.

best thing in this is the windows license.

Well the rest of the bits help to get a fully working computer on an extreme budget.

What ATX size is it? Looks a bit of lump of a box for the spec.

1gb ram no thanks..

I don't know why people can't understand a tablet is not a Windows pc. In fact Windows 8.1 on a 1gb tablet for example is perfectly usable.

1gb on a sub £30 tablet is FINE

Got mine today. Two tablets. Perfect condition. Wrapped. Sealed. Cosmetically *as new* as *as new can be. So two tablets came to about £56. Bought on the day Amazon were doing a £10 off £50 spend code. So £46 or £23 each. 1GB Ram? Gingerbread? pah. At that price I'm still dancin'. Anyone recommend any good films I can watch on it?
