Thank you for the response

Sorry for late reply, but yes will play it easily http://www.zoostorm.com/gaming-products/stormforce-tornado-vr-gaming-pc-i5-16gb-1tb-128gb-windows-10-home/ they even state it on their website.

It would run it smooth 60fps on high epic maybe more fps should handle fortnite easily. Actually just saw a video of guy with same setup 8gb ram playing at 80-100fps on epic settings so this could easily reach 120 fps 100-120 for which is great on max settings (epic).

Is this any good for fortnite and what FPS would it be running

Any good for vive?

You could get the 1060 6gb if you want aswell same price but less ssd plus includes WiFi and windows 10 and also the hassle of building. Think it's a fair deal. The Rx 480 is around 220 from what I've researched. It also has a DVD drive also you forgot a PSU.

PCPartPicker List. Some of the parts in this PC are older and/or dubious so I've taken the liberty of swapping them out for equivalent or better. It's especially hard to find RX480 cards any more so I've opted for the RX 580 8GB GTS Black Core Edition.

Yup was surprised they even name where there gpus Rams come from. They also supply to ebuyer and have cases which you can upgrade easily.

Nice bit of kit for the price, but yeah you'll get an extra sting of £40 or so for a new psu if adding a gpu. Not to say that everyone will do that however. Hot+

Only a 250w PSU in this - so beware if you wanted to add a gfx card.

Totally agree but I don't think you will find a similar spec with a SSD for that price.

It looks liek it has been this price always though..

A quick look through the links above provided by I_love_crabs. They seem to have general method here. I seems to involve opening the battery and replacing the cells. https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/zoostorm-116-touchscreen-laptop-new-with-dead-battery-5999-zoostorm-ebay-2654870?page=9#thread-comments A link was provided for Gearbest (still active) and AliExpress (does work anymore): https://www.gearbest.com/batteries/pp_190734.html?utm_source=tt_de This assumes it uses the same replacement batteries. If you opened it, you could check the cell model number.

Hi mate, how did you fixed the battery on the 11.6" version? Any chance of a quick summary guide and where to buy the Samsung cells? Many thanks

Bought one of these when they were £60 and it was a very nippy machine, exceeding expectations. Replaced the cells in the battery for less than a tenner. The only down side is that when the fan really kicks in, it is very loud.

Worth keeping an eye on the zoostorm ebay shop. They often have this and the 11.6" coming in & out of stock.

Avoid like the plague soooo slow!

I bought one of these a year ago as new for same price , but very slow with screen lag .

I got one of these, it was a brick, just blue screen on start up, the company wanted to send their own courier to collect also which was very unusual, I delt with the whole return just by contacting ebay about it as they also didn't want to use the messaging system and opted to email directly, it was very suspicious.

Just wanted something to play films on for the kids, and I find the cheap android tablets very well slow, this does exactly what it says on the tin.

I have one, it's pretty slow but does work - best for single uses like web browsing or playing your tunes...

Believe me, you will want more RAM and more internal storage if you want to run Windows on a tablet. Speaking from bitter experience...

i didnt do a clean install due to that very worry i only use mine as a HTPC so i'm not too concerned about bloatware provided playback is still smooth

thanks for responce, re your 11.6" version, have you ever done a clean install of windows 10, does it retain touchscreen, etc after restart? i'm aware of double driver and the such, but with some of the cheap chinese brands, it can still be a nightmare!

speaking from experience of the 11.6 inch version of this laptop, it is a 'proper' SSD using an m-sata slot, and it does have room for another 2.5 inch drive like i said, this is for the 11.6 inch model but i dont see why that would change for the 14 inch.

And is there a spare 2.5" slot to stick in another hd?

Received my Complete battery via TCB and Ali Express. Has this years date on it. Holding charge well and giving me a good 2 hours heavy use. Says 5 hours on Battery Meter when it completes a charge cycle. Well pleased. I got it from here

You can get 4 x 2800mAh Samsung's from banggood/gearbest for about £10. With respect, I'd spend the money on those so that you get a decent return on the investment and effort required to do this. You might struggle for an hour of operation with those cheapo batteries, plug general longevity would probably be pretty poor if I know my poundland products!

they are rated @ 3.7v each same as the original. you need to replace all, 1x4=14.8v= £4 Also, my understanding is that if you only change the faulty one, could be 1 or 2 or 3, chances are that the battery might not properly charge. So, it is better to change all for better chances of success unless the PCB might be faulty on some units. Going to try soon and report

i got a refurb dell t7500 (t5500 is smaller and should have got) for 160 from ebay. xeon e5630 processor which has passmark 4500 ish and 12 gb of ram. potential to upgrade to faster xeon and had massive psu for twin graphics in future. so lots of refurb bargains on ebay but this has amazon backing... wonder what max cpu upgrade is?

2220 passmark. so a weaker i3. can get refurb i3 on ebay for 110 to 120 and maybe i5 for this price. but here you have amazon guarantee. eould check psu but cpu bottlenecked by anything over a gtx 750ti anyhow? this plusb750ti for say 75 quid will do you 1080p gaming on low settings or maybe 720p 60fps maxed out.

The best deal I can find for a laptop with a 950m graphics card. I don't think the i3 would bottleneck it. I think it's FHD but checking with company.

Did a google search and this came up. http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/stormforce-wildfire-i3-6100hq-8gb-1tb-940m-win-10-7220-9065/version.asp Older version (?) with 1366x768.

nice 950m. tesco had one for 479. i got a 3nd hand 940m on ebay for 280 but that was a bargain. only use it when marketing so can play xcom. this is a good gaming pc on the move. but for home use best off getting a refurb i3 desktop for 100 on ebay and an rx 470 or 480 for 150 quid and make a 1080p ultra gaming pc for 250 quid. with the change buy a chromebook

quite a weak processor, weaker than many of the newer i5/i7 U chips but yeah it does have a decent level of graphics though doesn't say if GDDR3or5 which makes a big difference too only one review and it states 'good resolution' bit of a stupid review but surely it means it cant be base 1366*768?

My pet topic is why people should be buying business laptops second hand rather than semi-disposable, laptop-shaped junk like this. Just buy a refurbished Thinkpad. I've got this exact processor on my fanless PC running Kodi. It's fine as a low rent medi-pc, but running Windows 10 on it is excruciating. Even running Lubuntu on it, it's slow, but just about usable.

For what it is and what you would use it for, it's a pretty good price for the spec.

If you scroll to the bottom some real benchmark scores are listed, the ones I saw tend to make cheaper / mobile chips look better than they are, the old i3 gets 2 3 or more times the scores in each benchmark

While the 1037u is 4 years old now it's hardly fair comparing it to a desktop processor. Even the newest Kabylake i3-7100u will give you a passmark of 3938. A 15w i3 from 2013 was not much better than the 1037u, it was just clocked a little higher.

Just type the processor number followed by "benchmark" into Google etc. It will come up with a result for Passmark. 1037u has benchmark of 1743 average, and i3-4130 is 4771. The 1037u is "crippleware".

HI Piteudrica, Well done you managed to install 14.2 Helix. This box more to than capable ro play 1080. I have taken it off coz i unbale to get a 720 stream. MX player defaulted play. MX player works well with Live stream APK. PM me and work with me. Installed CM 10 JB 4.1 and AKOP JB V4.2.2 ( Roms work still testing) I guess its not fare to add tech bits here.

Hi Guys, I have got one box as well and figured out may has not been too bad after all. I have installed ES File manager (you can move to SD) and removed all bloatware (Box is already rooted) I agree with ABZY123 suggestion to not sign into google account/playstore KODI 14.2 helix is running fine but live TV is not great even on SD. (sound is crackling) I am now searching for any custom ROM and upgrade it to at least Android 4.4 (KitKat)

ZOOSTORM OWNERS HI People, I have purchased Zoostrom box.arrived few days ago. Out of the 4Gb storage.about 1.5 Gb the OS.450meg is the space to install apps. 2Gb is storage.some apps can be moved to this space. Got some anyyoying 3 apps ECloud share/DLNA/Share. This keeps prompting to enter a registration code every time the device is booted.Googling the issue and got no fix.Even Zoostorm support dont have a clue. BTW this box gets shipped out with the orignal ROM, to fix the issue of Ecloud registration, one blog/zoostorm support suggested to update the firmware. which i did . It became a bit more stable. minor bug fixed. but the Ecloud registration still didnt go away. http://downloads.zoostorm.com/drivers/android/PlayBox/Play.pdf Firmware http://downloads.zoostorm.com/drivers/android/PlayBox/Zoostorm_Play_Box.zip The only fix that got rid of the annoying registration box was to install EShareServer v1.2.2.apk. http://android-apk.org/apk/com.ecloud.eshare.server/v1.2.2/personalchusmanu/eshareserver/ I have managed to play 1080 content form my USB Hd.and showBox 720P and plays well using its built on android player is the BEST of all. Tested MX player and ARM codec also works well. VLC is no go. I would suggest not to sign into google account/playstore other wise the updates will kill the space.(450meg) The only stable version of KoDi is 14.2 helix you can install.but it can only play SD content(not good) still working on this. I am thinking to OverClock the box/still searching if there is custom Rom upgrade to kitkat ( this will fix alot of Apk compitibility parsing issues) I have not tested PLEX, as i think it will work well through NAS or share PC/server. Not bad for £15 as i have got it sing but not dance as yet.LOL let me know if anyone has done any testing to improve the performance. Hope this helps.

OP's requirements sound like any C2D system with a small SSD and 8+ gigs of RAM would be more then sufficient. It so happens that a box like that would cost no more then a £100.

I know enough to know I don't know enough. But with some study I have found these differences between the one I posted and your less expensive one. Not to me though. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know which version will cope with his photo editing sadly. But the pre installed windows is a boon for me. Having to work out how to load would definitely be a thing to do without his lordship standing over me asking what I am doing. The reply being "I don't know but this might work". As for the SSD, to be honest - I think it makes sense to have space available to install apps and programs. He likes trying new ones all the time and never likes anything deleted even if he hasn't touched it for over a year. But I shall leave it up to you more knowledgeable souls to rate it. I'll update the post with the additional specs I've gleaned from argos Q&A etc.
