Good deal if you can find a model that matches your spec needs.

I just ordered and received the new HP Envy 13 yesterday unfortunately. I was very interested in the XPS 13 but the inclusion of the MX150 GPU on the Envy sealed the deal, it's quite a lot of machine for the money especially with 10% discount + 3 year warranty included.
They have been doing 20% on Xps from past few weeks. 10% is the least you get. So better hold on for 15% or more.

Not wishing to go off topic but I'm interested in the new Envy, is it much better than the last model? Does the fan stay on most of the time? Cheers
Tempted by the inspiron 13. Any good?

I never had any experience with the last model so couldn't really say. Feels premium, nice build quality. Keyboard and trackpad feel nice. My partner has an older Spectre X360 from a few years back and the trackpad feels more solid than that, has a nice chamfered edge around the trackpad too.

So far the fan has been almost silent for me, at idle it's completely inaudible. Once I fire up a game it cranks up, particularly when the MX150 is in use, but that's expected. It spins down quite rapidly actually suggesting it's cooling itself fairly well. I have a feeling it automatically bumps up the fan whenever the MX150 is being used just to ensure it stays cool. It has fan grills on the underside along the middle, and it looks like there's some form of vents all the way along where the screen meets the chassis (on the chassis side but angled inwards towards the screen, quite smart placement). When you open the screen it lifts up the body slightly to improve airflow which is nice design.

Storage benchmarks are really strong, it beat my 850 Evo in my PC by a fair margin, as expected for m.2 but nice to see. I ran a few short tests of the CPU to see if there was any noticeable throttling and it seems it's sitting comfortably cooled around 70 degrees at 100% load so no throttling at all. I'd have to run for alot longer to test properly but short term looks good (unlike something like the Surface Pro 3 which I came from which throttles within less than a minute under load).

Audio quality from the in-built speakers is decent. Goes fairly loud and stays clear. It's ultrabook speakers at the end of the day so nothing spectacular but they do a solid job.

Overall really happy with the device so far. It's neat, feels well built and performance seems really solid for an ultrabook. MX150 seems capable of running something like Heroes of the Storm at 1080p medium settings at mostly 60fps. ONLY area I've been abit disappointed with is there's some slight ghosting during motion on the panel used, if you're sensitive to that stuff you may notice it. I don't really plan to sit playing high speed shooters on the thing so it's not a biggie for me, but I must admit I was disappointed when I noticed it. It'd also be nice to see the panel reach higher brightness at max ideally, I haven't tested outdoors use but inside 75% is just fine and 100% is nice but 50% and below feels abit too dim imo. Panel itself is glossy but looks nice, fairly clear and nice colours - nothing spectacular but decent. Other than that I can't complain about anything so far.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I think they change the prices depending on the discounts available.

Saying that I got a Dell Inspiron 7000 Gaming for £560 a month ago, and be aware I think they put new stocks on around 3pm daily.
Does anyone know what the general condition of the batteries are in the scratch and dent/certified refurbished models?

Yeap, seemed to have missed that option. Thanks for the heads up.
