Example on cheapness here:

Local fitting centre charges £60 for each Bridgestone B391 fitted (high quality tyres).

e-tyres charged £73 after code for two tyres. Fitted at my flat carpark!

The discount only applies to certain brands .....which surprise surprise aren't the cheapest ones ! :-(

If you just ring around you can normally find bigger savings some where off tyres.

Voted hot.
You may be able to find cheaper but the fact that I don't have to waste 1 or 2 hours getting it sorted (and £5 or so petrol getting there and back) does it for me.
Don't need it yet but one for my bookmarks

Not a cheap company. Go for Blackcircles instead

What are the Avon tyres like?

Original Poster

mjr600 - this is not the case. I am partly to blame in my OP to say they are the cheapest. They were in my case, cheaper than blackcircles for the tyres I wanted. I checked many online sites and fitters. I guess in your case they were not cheaper.

saxo - Avon tyres are fine. Phone a fitter for some recommendations perhaps and then buy away.

If there is one near to you, I would highly recommend CostCo for tyres.

I bought 2 Michelin Energy tyres last week (205/60/16) for £148.02 fitted, balanced the lot (for both!) - Kwikfit wanted £265 for the same tyres..!! :pirate: :pirate: :pirate:

CostCo only sell Michelin tyres so can sell them cheaper than garages.... they were even cheaper than Blackcirles.com (which I used to use!).

I've bought mine from National, they were doing a buy one get one free:

E-Tyres are awesome, however MyTyres are even better/cheaper. They sell you just the tyre and then you just get them fitted at any tyre place for a fiver. Jobs a good un'!

The tyre places are starting to charge silly prices for tyres they dont supply to protect their business.

Also can a mobile tyre fitter balance the wheels too? I dont think that machine will work in the back of a van.

of course the machine works in the back of a van! thats the whole point of MOBILE tyre fitting:giggle:

Most garages want around £15 (per tyre) to fit customer supplied tyres these days.

I mean a wheel balance machine not a tyre fitting machine, I dont think the balancing machine can be calibrated in the back of a van, I think it has to be on a stable surface.

This deal is cheaper than Blackcircle for me (I had 2 tyres fitted a few months ago by them) and also other online retailers I have checked so far. I will be seriously considering Etyres for my next 2 tyres fitted at home.
Great spot

Just in time, car has just passed MOT but got told that they 2 fronts needed changing voted hot

All etyres prices for tyres include on-site fitting, a new rubber valve and wheel balancing

My last mobile tyre purchase was from event-tyres.co.uk/ and their wheel balancing was spot on, unlike my local Hi-Q tyre centre.

Yes they can and do balance in the back of a van.

For fitting, if not included goto a small branch when only 2-3 people work, they will normally do it for a small charge for the "tea fund" (beer :whistling: ), the big branches have to do it "on ticket".

EDIT: ATS do a puncture repair for £10 which involves typre off and back on so wont charge more than that.

I had a four new tyres fitted a couple of months ago and found (as usual) that by simply ringing around half a dozen local tyre fit places it ended up with me getting a massive discount.

Using this offer and on the cheapest Goodyears that they do (which weren't the ones I got) the price is around the £200 mark.

I got four Goodyear 195/50/R15's for £160 all in at a ]local chain that is also the nearest to me. I seem to remember at the time National tyres being closer to £400, although rather bizarrely they did say they could price match it. Even Formula 1 were way over £250.

Thanks for letting me know guys, I have always thought this due to the ATS mobile fitter who comes to my work not having a balancing machine onboard.

Thanks for taking the time to explain this in a nice manner and not using stupid giggly smileys like some people do.

Thanks OP

Just used this, paid £103 for 2 tyres, normally they cost around £90 each so I'm pretty pleased!

One question though, my car (fiesta zetec s) has those lock nut things on each of the wheels, they are the standard ones what came on the car. Will the fitter be able to remove these? Or do I need to find the key

Good thread, National tyres wanted £98.50 per Pirelli P6000 for my car

Etyres wanted £73.30 per tyre,

But winner by a mile is blackcircle sp big thanks to greyster £60.97 (fitted at my local Central tyres garage who would charge me £69.99 if I went direct to them! Strange world!)

Oh and also found that the code "pistonheads" gets me an extra 5% of the cost of each tyre bringing them down to £57.92 each! Right result ta v much

The 1122 code expires on 31/12/07

Err...... well he should be able to remove them but would be best if you had you key incase (should be in the spare wheel well or in the glove box...)

Hi, I phoned ETYRES direct and the prices they quoted were even cheaper than on their website. I also asked if I could use the voucher which they accepted without question!!, Total fitted without leaving my armchair 3x Firestones F580s £112 which I thought was a GREAT price...Blackcircles were looking for ...£129.48p so quite a saving on them too.. Ill wait on the expertise of the fitting to make my final judgement though...

any feedback then jonnic?

If you really wan't to SAVE money on most tyres AND help alleviate POLIO - why not try Blackcircles and use the code RRAF. You will not only receive a 5% discount but Blackcircles will donate an equivalent amount to Rotary's Charity aimed at eliminating Poilo - over $600 million has already been given (not by Blackcircles of course)
The service is great and I have been using them regularly for over four years.

e tyres was around the same sort of price as the other dicount tyre places, however they came out did the work at my place of work, meaning i didnt have to waste any of my own time getting them sorted.

i went for the continental premium contact 2 which came in at £64.50 each fitted, balanced and old tyres disposed of at my work place.

i was happy.

Does anyone know how good AVON TYRES are compared to other tyres????

All advice appreciated

avon tyres are a good brand. They are more top end than bog standard.

Well I ordered from Etyres last friday and they called me back to tell me they don't cover my area. Great

The only option was a 30 mile drive to the nearest centre. Cancelling out any saving. So got a refund and went to blackcircles who have a fitting centre 3 miles away.

Although original post shows that offer expires 31/12/07 it is still live. I ordered on 3/1/08 and received the £10 off.
I ordered two pairs of tyres (for different cars) and they were cheapest by a long way!

so this isnt expired then?
