gari, if this works you're gonna save a lot of people a lot of money!

I'm reserving heat and rep until I can test it.

I'm after two tellies at the mo, so this could same me some beer tokens!

:pirate: CJ :pirate:

EDIT: Don't forget that on most tellies at ED you can pay £20 and join their loyalty card scheme for a free 3 year warranty - 5 years on selected Panasonic TVs.

But Empire's Basket will not work at present, I wonder why :~(((

Don't forget 2% Quidco. :~))

code works if you sign in, thanks again op!!!

Oh yes it does. I've just ordered a £1450 TV (including £20 card to get Warranty and £30 delivery) and been charged £1310, ie £140 off. If it continues to work, bl//dy brilliant.

Empire Direct's Servers have been only partially working, so I think thats what the issue was. Anyway we'll see.

THANKS.

Apparently code will work till 30/11/2007, per a voucher site.

It worked for me too. £550 for TV, £20 for warranty card and £25 delivery.
£595 total Final payment £540.

Total saving £55
Nice tv best price I could find.

Code deosn't work for me.

Working fine.

Heat and Rep Added.

Shame it won't give 10% off the loyalty card and the delivery charge too!

Thanks gari189

Having problems with the codes on the ED site is not unusual I've had the same problem in the past and so have others when these codes have been posted previously but if persevere you should hopefully get it to work.

I found that if I closed the browser and went back on later I got it to work.

Thanks for the positive comments CJ

Anyone who saves me £140 is a 5 star Gem. Thank You gari189, thank you.
And for what I want it was the best price before discount anyway. Add the 5 year warranty (on some Panasonics its 5 years not 3) for £20 and we are ***stellar***.

Nick

Been waiting to order a TV from empire for weeks and this code came at just the perfect time. Saved £110 !!!

Plus 2% quidco.

I went for a LG 47LY95. Lets hope the influx of orders doesn't send their delivery process over a cliff.

OK, I got it to work by registering and signing in, so anyone having problems sign in first.

Thanks to the op saved me £35, rep left.

de_deej

You just saved me £120 gari. Thanks m8.

Ordered a Samsung LE40R87BDX and a Samsung LE37R87BDX with the edXtra card for the free 3 year warranty.

I owe you one! :friends:

:pirate: CJ :pirate:

Got it working now.

Great code.

Thanks very much OP, just bought a Canon IXUS 860IS for about £183 after quidco, £20 cheaper than anywhere else!

LOL! :giggle:

Voted hot, appreciate the offer, though unfortunately the particular tv I want is priced about the same after discounts, quidco, postage etc have been factored in from Play.com. (Actually slightly cheaper). But for any big tvs I would imagine you would make a huge saving, especially as £45 for delivery and 3 year warranty is peanuts when you are spending £1000+ but is a big % of the price for a budget conscious buyer (ie ~£400).

I'd be careful with Play.com - one member on here ordered a Nintendo DS and was sent an empty box - when she complained, they said tough.....

If you have problems with the TV will you be covered under trading standards buying from Jersey? I'd investigate this before ordering something big/expensive from Play....

This is a fantastic code, voting hot hot hot and leaving rep..

Any advice as to what TV to go for..should i go for the Samsung LE32R87BDX or Panasonic TX26LMD70

I know the Samsungs a little bigger, but i've been told Panasonics are better in general.

I'm really puching my budget with this, so the codes fantastic

TV's for the bedroom, don't use it for gaming etc...may do in the future (if PS3's get cheaper)

Oh and another thing...i have no aerial socket in the bedroom, so will need to use one of them small ones...is this a good idea...signle ain't bad in my area.

So what's the best buy?...Tosh looks and sounds fantastic...but is it reliable?

If not..what's my best bet?

Appologies for so many questions but i've been saving up for so long, i don't wan't to regret my decision.

I would go for the Samsung for VFM and quality. If you can stretch to the Panny Plasma, then do it, but it'll be a big stretch.

Get yourself into Comet and have a look at them all, the Samsungs look amazing. PQ on the Pannys is just about the best, but you'll pay a premium.

Not too sure about the portable aerial thing. I tried to get freeview with one and couldn't.

Hope this helps?

:pirate: CJ :pirate:

^^^ Thanks Jake...It does help...Only thing is...this is gonna sound right stupid...but i know nothing about Tv's etc...for one Panny Plasma? please hold out on the jokes...but what does that mean?

PQ? the VFM? lol...sorry...i've never actually bought any electrical equipment for the house before

Should i just go for a cheapo one like the LG 26LC55 or is that no no?

Original Poster

PQ = Picture quality
VFM = value for money
SD = standard definition eg freeview, analogue (aerial reception)
HD = high definition - typically from Sky+, or PS3, Xbox 360 or HD DVD player or upscaling DVD player

Two different technologies are used for flat screens - lcd (like a laptop screen) or plasma but these typically start at 37". For a 26" you will be looking at LCD....

I was in Comet today and the PQ (Picture Quality) on the LG wasn't up to scratch.

Key:

Panny = Panasonic
Plasma = Better than LCD, but cost more
VFM = Value for Money

My advice would be to choose a size and a budget, then do some research yourself on which one is for you.

Sound advice from CT but if you're going for 32" the SD performance of the Tosh is supposedly better than the Samsung however 26" might be a better size for a bedroom...

You might not appreciate how big the 32" is in the showroom - its like sofa's they always look small in the furniture warehouse but are the size of a small country when they arrive......

I suggest you cut a piece of cardboard to size and put it where the telly would be - this will give an ideal if its going to look too big or not.....

I speak from experience - I had to take back a 37" and swap it for a 32"!!

Hehe.

I just bought the Sammy 37" for my boy's bedroom, then went to Comet today for something unrelated, and saw the beast! It's huge!

On the other hand, I have a 42" Panny Plasma, and it's funny how you get used to the size after a while. So it's a bit of a paradox!

If you decide to go for a 26" the Samsung is £378 using this code (if you can pick up).

If you can't pick up its available from AJ electronics for £382 delivered....don't forget Quidco for both sites.

Whatever you do - don't buy from Pixmania unless it really is a stonking bargain....

I have tried every which way to get this code to work starting yesterday. All I get is this code is invalid.

Doh, it's expired now... could have saved myself about £80 with quidco as well

Hasn't expired - just tried the code and its still working....

Once you've typed in the username and code DO NOT UPDATE the basket - click directly on the checkout button. That worked for me.

Each time I try I get "Sorry, this voucher code is invalid.", just like the chap above. I've tried in Firefox and IE, logged in to my account and logged out. Very odd... this is whilst trying to buy a plasma.

I feel for you merkin.

Just tried it again myself and got "Sorry, this voucher code is invalid."
Dunno if it's because I've already used it?

If you tell me the model you're after, I can probably find you a good deal?

After shopping for two tellies recently, I know where most of the good deals are.
