Whats to stop you calling to cancel this evening, having it turned off, and call back any day before the 25th November to take advantage of the deal?

Thanks for this, although i didnt get the half price for 12 months, i got half price for 6months plus free hd box(free anyway i know) plus free multiroom installation

Don't sky class a returning customer as someone coming back after 12 months of not being a customer?

As for existing customers phone up CS to cancel and when retentions make an offer mention this

I returned to Sky a couple of months ago, same deal.

Mentioned it to a friend who is a long term Sky customer. they phoned up and said they were leaving unless they got the same deal.

They now have Sky 1/2 price for 12 months without ever leaving (they didn't get the £50 M&S vouchers though)

I change constantly every year between Sky and Virgin (unless they give me deals to stay). Haven't paid more than 1/2 price for years. Got an amazing deal when I switched from Sky to Virgin last year, with a nice £150 quidco cash back as the icing on the cake.

It seems that if your a loyal customer of either, you pay at least double what everyone else is paying.

Nope....i cancelled Sky in August with the sole idea that they would be sending me a half price 12 month letter before long...and low and behold, 4 weeks later i got the letter and now am enjoying half price sky for a year saving me £20 a month!!

Can new customers get this?

meinnit

Can new customers get this?

Nope

I just tried this. Because the contract is in my husbands name, and despite us having a password on the contract so I can speak to them, they won't discuss a possible cancellation with me!! Also he said we wouldn't get this deal unless no-one in the household had had a sky contract for at least 1 yr. So beware. Think the guy I got was quite new and unsure of things so maybe if you get someone different it may be better. Blooming annoying when you've paid a fortune to sky for years and years and we never get offered any deals. Ah well. Will get hubby to phone tonight and see how he gets on.

Also spoken to sky today,we have been with them for 20 years never had any offers in that time from sky.The best they would offer us on a full package of what we currently pay (£51.00 a month)was half price for the next six months,we told them 12 months or we vote with our feet, needless to say they did not budge, neither did we,have cancelled our subscription,we will now wait to see if we get our offer letter through the door,if not virgin is in our road just wait for the quidco to go up on virgin lol.Sky also claimed that this offer was available to new customers only, and that those of you claiming to have got this offer are all liars.Another company that does not reward their loyal customers very dissapointed.

That's still more than cancel and straight back though, generally i'm fairly sure you have to have been gone a certain period of time before they really make the good offers, anyway regardless to the other poster they can't cancel and then go for this as it would be too soon

As with anything with a contract it's ALWAYS worth phoning to cancel at the end of the period even if you have no intention of going without just to get the deals, sitting back loyal gets you NOTHING

Just phoned to try and get this offer i left sky in March 2010 unfortunately this mailshot was showing as invalid on my account. I was however offered 6 months half price. Not as good as 12 and no M&S vouchers

I have just called and they told me it is an offer for loyalty customers who have been with sky for roughly 7 years and left. They said its not showing as an offer on my account and non transferable.

good dealif you can get it

Just threaten to cancel then.....at the VERY least they will offer you 6 months half price sky.

They are blatantly lying about the 7 years....i was with them ONE year, cancelled and 1 month later got the letter offering me half price for one year.

Just ring back and try a different operator

if you have gone back to sky your never in a contract with them after that so you can cancel when you want

yeh you need to talk to the right people or you will get nowhere customer retensions or cancellation dept

hubby phoned last night. Threatened to cancel and got 25% off for 12 months and no contract. Better than nothing I suppose.

Rejoined as in you left and came back after a long absence??? or you threatened to cancel and got 6 months half price? - cos if you are returning after 12 months then you are into a new 12 month con tract

what area of the uk as this mail shot been posted to does anyone know , im out of contract and on freesat as of last week so i may be able to get this.

You're NOT tied into a new contract unless they specifically say you are or send paperwork to show this otherwise just refer them to the unfair terms and condition in contract law. If they don't tell you you're entering a 12 month contract it's no enforcable - no way

They will tell you youve signed up for a new 12 month contract.

Trust me....when you join Sky, both as a new customer OR a returning one after a spell away from them (or even sometimes if you increase your ackage to HD or Multiroom) you will be in a new 12 month contract.

If you ring up, threaten to cancel and you thrash out a deal BEFORE you leave then NO, you are not in a new contract.

Has your subscription been cancelled for 2 weeks or have you given notice to cancel 2 weeks ago ?
Just interested as I have recently given notice to cancel but still within the 31 days notice period.

You always have to give 31 days notice which i did and i am now out of contract and have been for 2 weeks, do miss some parts of sky a few channels and the kids where moaning this morning so would like to sign back up but cant afford the £24 a month i was paying . We are copping with freeview which as pvr built in which is as good as sky+ , as for kids i have am downloading all the series of there fav carttons and will put onto my seagate movie player hard drive, so managing without for the moment , but anyone that as recieved the 12 half price and £50 ms voucher deal please let me know what area they live, i might be able to blag the same deal.

We left Sky over two years ago would I be able to get this offer.

my contract runs out on the 21st december, if i ring up tomorrow to try and get a deal on this (i also want to move my broadband to sky (unlimited)) will they offer me any deals, or will i have to wait until the 21st november?

i am currently on a half price deal, and will cancel if they offer me nothing, as i cant justify the extra outlay

My friend gave me the code M&S2 same kinda thing, I did call and he first off mentioned it wasnt a code valid to my dorment account. But then he found it, right at the bottom of their system.
Then he's pc crashed but he told me whoever you speak too, to scroll right to the bottom of their merlin system.
Anyhow 4 calls later and they wont give me the deal, no matter how much bull I give them, their cowboys lol

That's not always the case

I've not had a sky account in my own name for a few years. Will this work for me?
