If it was still in Birmingham I'd be there without a doubt. London through... Nope. You'll get to queue for hours on end to play a small handful of upcoming releases which are weeks away from release for 5-10 minutes. I'm all for the experience and enjoying the hype but it's just not worth the extra travel time and cost London brings with it.

That's because the discount code was setup to provide a discount for those who were local to Birmingham as an incentive to make the extra journey to London. When they first launched it in spring they were asking for proof that you'd been to Birmingham the year before. Looks like now they're dropping that requirement since they still have tickets left at the last minute.

I wish they'd shut up about them. The less people there the more time I have to wander around casually.

Wooohooo can't wait to go next week.

Shame it's in London not Birmingham this year as it's soo much more expensive to go

So what's the difference between waiting ages to playing a game in Birmingham compared to waiting ages to play a game in London?

I can see where you're coming from with the time cost, but last time I checked, it doesn't cost anything to wait in a queue.

Time is worth far more than money.

My point is once you factor in literally doubling both the time and financial costs of travel / accommodation for the entire trip the whole waiting in line for hours for 5 mins of play becomes much less worthwhile.

If you're closer to London it's great, but Birmingham was far more central for us which live up North!
They definitely should've stayed in Brum, especially for this end of cycle "gap year"

Ive been going to EGX since it started in London back in the early 00's. Back then it was called something else but yeah, overtime it got more and more crowded. Tickets prices started going up as it got popular and I stopping going 3 years ago.

I've not been since it left London, I booked a super pass in March this year and wow this event line up is a poor comparison of what it always was. EGX Rezzed with a few handful of AAA games and EGX Rezzed has had those too. No wonder they give away so much swag with the pass and discounts on the store and other stores in the event.
I think I've been going to EGX 8yrs now. Apart from one very poor year it had in Birmingham, the event has probably double what it was back than. I'm a Virgin Media customer so Early Entry tickets have been 50% off for me so the jump in price hasn't hit me so hard. Thurs, Fri & Sat this year are 10am-10pm because there's a free EGX After Hours things on them days.

Moving to Birmingham almost stop me going though because there's limited choose of places to stay on a budget & the trains were terrible. Every year I had to stay at the Hatters Hostel which last year tried to cancel on me when I got there. Ended up having to sleep in their nasty dorms in the basement & getting so ill I was coughing up blood. The best thing about that place was its free breakfast, that's the only thing they did well every year I went back there.

I was over the mood when I found out EGX was moving back to London. I'm staying 5 nights in one them Private capsule beds with the colour changeable LED lights, plugs & usb sockets. It's basically like a big box really where you get in from the bottom of the bed with a curtain. I usual stay at hostels that at least have a curtain that goes around the bed. I'm thinking this will be even better for passing out after a very long day. Free Breakfast which looks same as Hatters so hopefully good enough for me to get cheeky & make a couple of sandwiches to take with me.

If anybody looks at this and is thinking of going digital foundry and Eurogamer are going through some controversy and I would suggest not supporting them with your money by boycotting this event
