Unless you are planning on going off road you don't need suspension and if you are you would be far better off with a bike like this.

You have obviously never used a bike on the roads near me then.

If it's really bad then the bike I suggested would be better it has larger wheels that roll over bumps better with thicker tyres and much better front suspension. It also has a classic double triangle frame with reinforcement and a much stronger freehub based rear wheel both capable of absorbing more knocks and damage. The basic suspension of this iconbit will likely fail quite soon if actually regularly given a workout and I doubt spare seals etc are available, you would be faced with replacing the whole front suspension. Failed suspension and the cost of replacement is a big cause of bikes prematurely being recycled. The extra weight of that suspension is another factor especially if the e-bike runs out of charge and you have to cycle it home. Cheap suspension is also often not that effective it bottoms out easily and can worsen the ride quality and control of many bikes especially for heavier riders.

I am aware of all of that.

All I was saying was suspension is not only useful for off road riding as you said in your original comment.

I can see from my original comment I omitted the 'front' in front suspension but assume you realise I was talking about just front suspension obviously all bikes have many parts which provide suspension without weight, efficiency and reliability penalties these include the tyres, saddle, seat post, rigid forks, frame, spokes, handlebars, handlebar grips all of which can flex and absorb shocks from the ground. Add to that when you actually see an upcoming pot-hole etc use your own body as suspension by taking your body weight off the saddle and allow your legs and arms to suspend your torso isolating it from shock. I don't know the state of your roads but e-bikes have limited range and it is quite likely at times you will be left without charge and have to cycle home. You already have all the weight of the hub motor, battery etc and the hub motor itself might create a slight drag so to add to that the weight of cheap front forks seems just wrong. If there is a case to be made for suspension surely it would be on the rear of the bike where most of the rider's weight is as seen on bikes like the Brompton especially as it also helps protect the weak freewheel drivetrain from bent axles on lower end models but instead many cheap bikes use basically low end front suspension often used on children's mountain bikes on the front of adult comfort bikes because front suspension helps sell bikes which is why cheap steel dual suspension bikes are probably the best selling bikes in this country but they are not good bikes.
