Good deal but be warned Lenovo has the worst customer service i have ever delt with. I had a top spec c940 that arrived dead and they were absolutely useless in helping me exchange it even telling me at one point i must have done something to it as it wouldn't have left the warehouse like that. And then when i finally got them to exchange it (a week later after 6 phone calls and countless emails), i sent the dead one back and was told a new one would be sent when old one was collected but two weeks later when it still hadn't arrived i rang them to be told their not sure where my replacements is and it will arrive when it arrives and after some complaining they said they would raise the issue and someone would be in touch, they finally got back in touch 2 months later.

That's awful. Did you buy with a credit card? I always make large purchases with credit card now just in case of shocking tactics like that.

No it was through a home insurance claim so i didnt even have the option to cancel and get my money back, thankfully the company i went through was very helpful otherwise i might still be trying to sort it now.

My experience of returning a c940 was actually pretty good. I'm guessing most peoples experiences are good however a minority deal with issues like this. Still unacceptable. That said their website has an area to request a refund which wasn't working so I had to call them.

Just completed the purchase. Went for the top and it works out £666.89. Don't mind waiting for 6 weeks as it's not urgent. Works with "Blue light card" as well.

Well it's not all doom and gloom. I couldn't manage to get any student discount working with quidco. I've tried so many times and it's not coming up

Definitely! What colour did u go for? I can't seem to find what the colour looks like. It just states the colour names but not what they look like

Went for the lighter grey to my daughter liking. Google colour names, will give you an idea although might not be very accurate.

Someone had a comment in the previous lenovo post for being sent the wrong colour. Wouldn't mind either of the two.
Some could benefit if you add "Blue light card" in the title.

How did you know from the options which screen has the best colour accuracy?

The list doesn't mention which one is which. I also tried cross-referencing the specs page but didn't help:

Config page when ordering:

Tech specs page:

Or have I misunderstood because all the metal ones have the 100% sRGB screen, no matter which option you choose?
Edited by: "cmahey" 18th Jul
The 300nits one has 100% srgb (bottom option) and comes with metal construction

Thanks, I'm in 2 minds about placing an order! I'm considering venturing into an AMD laptop as I have an AMD desktop too. It'll replace my Intel laptop. Hmmmm, 1st world problems haha.

I needed a laptop so I got one for university but I'd recommend AMD laptop over intel anyday right now because of the 4000series. I think the ideapad 5 14 is best value for money so I'd say go for it

I've changed my mind about ordering now.

The aftersales support for my current laptop has been atrocious. Unless they rectify it (on the 3rd time of asking, for the same issue), I won't be purchasing another Lenovo device again.

Touchpad randomly stops working

I've sent it back to Lenovo twice in 2 months and haven't been able to fix it. I'm annoyed because my laptop is in pristine condition and I pride myself in looking after it as I do with all of my belongings.

They have asked me to do some generic troubleshooting, which I didn't want to do. But to rule it out, I did it anyway today.

Ironically, whilst doing that - the touchpad stopped working so I couldn't continue

This is on a Lenovo X1 Carbon 6th with a i7 8650u quad core and 16GB RAM. So, a fairly decent laptop with 26 months of 'onsite' business warranty.

It seems to me as though companies are hiding behind the coronavirus to be even more incompetent than usual.

Call me sceptical!

(Hopefully they redeem themselves and I can change my mind!)

I'm just on a rant. I think mine is a niche scenario.

Yours will be fine, fingers crossed!

The ThinkPad is too thick for my liking and also the ideapad 5 14 is made out of aluminium which is better than the plastic that comes with the ThinkPad
