.' Selected Summer and Winter' ........... A few here and there probably.

They are just dirty robbing thieving b*******.
I find the package holiday company prices cheaper than booking separately. How is everyone else finding these super cheap DIY holidays?
Hate to disagree with previous comments but I haven't found this "surge pricing " in the November holidays to the Canaries I am tracking (about 10 hotels in Lanzarote and Tenerife AI on a JET2 package ). I expected it as Thomas Cook clients rebook but not seen it for Jet2 holidays in November as yet .

I agree , I always check , and up until 5 years ago always used to put a holiday together using Travel republic or similar .

Since then I can never get a cheaper price than a package even before I add on baggage and transfers .

Maybe if you book a disgusting no star room only , find a Ryanair deal and can fit your luggage in a pencil case you can do it cheaper

This may change over the next few weeks - There will be a lot of hotels with spare capacity (as Thomas Cook is sadly no more ) so the hotels will need to fill those rooms , especially as they have lost out on the last 3 months money owed to them by Thomas Cook (they may get 2p in the pound eventually ) .

Problem is not enough flights to get holiday makers to these hotels (until the remaining carriers up the amount of flights to take on the demand) .

I am waiting with interest to see what happens . Jet2 , TUI for example will probably be offered an extra 20 odd rooms in hundreds of hotels at a knock down price , will they take them ? Will these rooms be available through Travel Republic, On the beach , Expedia etc at lower prices - I haven't seen it yet .

The whole equilibrium of the holiday industry has been yanked out of kilter and as well as the Thomas Cook staff losing their jobs many foreign hotels will also close (remember Thomas Cook pay for holidays already taken 90 days in arrears ).

Its not a pleasant thought to dwell upon , I just hope the equilibrium gets restored as soon as possible .
I always book direct with airline (luggage including) and hotel separate, also travel insurance, comes cheaper than booking a package 9/10 times
All my flights have randomly increased by £100 since TC went, werid thing is non of those flights were done by TC.

All thefts!

That depends on holiday type. Fat East and Europe can be usually found cheaper when bought separately but not Caribbean or Indian Ocean holidays. Also depends on the hotel. I used to work for small travel agent and they get hotel rates much cheaper than you could find on any website they they have to package it. I still book with them as get discount and all holidays are ATOL and ABTA protected. Something you won’t get when booking all components separately.
Prices have soared from Leeds since Ryanair bullied out of Fuerteventura and Faro

You’re obviously not flying from Glasgow !-I have just rebooked a November Canaries holiday I lost and even the hotels were putting prices up on Monday !

I've booked European destinations like Spain, Italy, Turkey in the past, all from London airports and they were all cheaper via package deals. I agree with you about the protection, on the off chance that the DIY package was a few pounds cheaper I booked via the tour operator anyway for the ATOL protection.
Booked a holiday Sunday on Monday it had gone up £70pp. Jet2 are profiteering from people upset

that kind of price increase happens normally anyway. It's a way of forcing people to book based on salesman tactics 'quick the price is only locked in today and is going up tomorrow'.

If you clear all cookies, histories etc and log in from work, or a friend's place, you'll find the price similar again.
The holiday I had been hoping to book with Jet2 climbed from under £1100 pp at the weekend to over £1500pp on Monday. The £1100pp price was upgraded from the base price which was HB to AI, on Monday the base price moved to B and B which was now more than my original AI price, add the AI increase which was now greater as it was from B and B and not HB and you have a £400+ pp increase.
I recommend folks decide on a few holidays then preferably follow the prices of each over a couple of months . I far prefer Jet2 (from EMA) , although I keep an eye on others , including booking each part separately.

Prices do go up and down but its more to do with seats available on the aircraft (modified by time to go till your holiday date ). I've seen prices drop by 20% over a few weeks and similarly rise by 20% over a few weeks .

For instance in the last 5 days prices for 23rd November Tenerife AI have each gone up (watching 5 holidays) £8 (on a £1500 -£2000 holiday).

Watching 3 in Lanzarote for the same date - all have remained the same price. So it would seem to be "dynamic pricing " from Jet2 not profiteering as there would have been a 10% rise across the board if that were the case .

Incidentally looking at booking the elements separately I can't beat any of the package prices ( 3/4 star hotels ) even before adding bags and transfers , perhaps that is just the case with the Canaries ?

There are so many factors that influence the price of holidays (currency fluctuations due to the Brexit lark being one ) . Aircraft fuel is paid in dollars , European hotels paid in Euros .

I would estimate Thomas Cook had 15% - 20% of the UK package holiday market . Supply and demand suggest prices will rise at least until the other main providers (Jet2 and TUI ) increase their flights and hotel rooms .

So not profiteering IMO just supply and demand algorithms at play .

As I said the holidays I am watching for 23rd November - Canaries from EMids - haven't risen much ( Yet ! ) , but then again end of November is a quiet time .

Maybe those who are booking for October half term are running up against a Supply v Demand problem (with 15% -20% of capacity being removed from the market at a stroke ) .

I would hope the problem will ease as operators try to put on extra flights and hotels scramble to fill their "Thomas Cook " rooms (now empty) but I haven't seen any sign of that yet .
Code worked for me for an all inclusive 7-day holiday in Turkey in June 2020. Thank you!
