Last year I went through the whole thing, took a photo and uploaded it... then they wouldn't take my card!!

Excellent price - HOT

Fantastic, was going to go down the station to get one full price. Saved me time and effort!

It's worth adding that the YPRC is a really, really useful thing to have. I saved myself well over the original price (£18 at the time) on one trip to Birmingham alone.

Also, if I remember rightly, you can add your YPRC to your oyster card. By doing that it will give you a 33% reduction on the daily price cap.

So glad I decided NOT to renew mine today.

great deal, heat added

GRRRR Renewed mine on Monday for £24 grrrrr!!!!!!! :x

Is this their way of hiding the 20% price increase? (my last renewal not too long ago was £20)
Still a good deal if you need to renew soon

This one comes as a single card and not the same as the one you buy at the station (which comes in 3 parts), much handier.

I could have sworn i paid £40 for mine last year, have they dropped to £24 and now £12??

Does anyone have the link to the oyster offer that was posted on here a few months ago. Something to do with converting the railcard onto an oyster and saving more money. A little confused though. How does the price capping work? If I get travelcards on my Railcard can I still get the Oyster discount on it or is it just for Pay as you Go? ;D

mine runs out beginning of april, dunno if it's worth getting yet. Do you think more offers will come up before then? or even just after then?

mine runs out in mid/late may but i got one of these anyway, i can see it getting cheaper than 1/2 price

It may not be the link to the oyster card offer on the forum, but here is the link to the government's transport for london site, gives all the info on the price capping at 34% off when you link your YPRC to your oyster card.

tfl.gov.uk/tic…spx

Hope this helps.

Also, for all other official info on the card might be worth going to: youngpersons-railcard.co.uk/

And, I'd say for those whose cards are runing out in April/May, I've been getting the YPRC for years and have never previously come across a deal such as this one. My only thought is that it's to encourage us students and young people to take the trains during term time and off-peak, ie not summer holidays etc. That being so, I cannot imagine they would offer this in summer, when they probably get a lot more people buying them.

Many thanks to OP. I needed to renew in this week or next anyway

Thank YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

i cannot get the picture to be uploaded to be the right size any tips please????

I found the picture upload thingy to be a complete load of cr*p! There are some instructions which I found to be pretty technical.
Try not to edit your photo if you are using a webcam. I tried re-sizing mine etc, but in the end, it was best to just send it as it was.
Hope you get there eventually. it took me about 15 attempts over 3 evenings, almost gave up completely.

Here is a copy of the 'acceptable digital photographs' section:

We recommend that you remove your glasses to avoid these problems; * Your full head, without any head covering, unless it is worn for religious beliefs or medical reasons; and your face uncovered.Photographs uploaded onto the website must: * Have an aspect ratio of 1.29 (with a tolerance of +/ - 0.15) - this means that their height divided by their width must result in a value of between 1.14 to 1.44; * Be a file type of either: .jpg, .bmp or .gif; * Have a file size not exceeding 1 mb; and have a resolution of at least 300dpi.

The thing that got me was:
"Have an aspect ratio of 1.29 (with a tolerance of +/ - 0.15) - this means that their height divided by their width must result in a value of between 1.14 to 1.44;"
and also
"have a resolution of at least 300dpi"
I am pretty good on computers, but this seems more like photograpy terminology than how to load a simple picture to a website. - Too picky if you ask me, and I orderd mine a couple of days before this flaming code came out grrrr!
Hope you get yours submitted!
