Asus B550 + ryzen CPU cashback - up to £100 at multiple retailers

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

*disclaimer: a commenter below has pointed out a similar deal in November for GPUs had issues getting cashback and people given game passes instead, they advise looking at overclockers forums for more info

B500 boards have released and Asus are offering cashback between £20-100 when you buy a motherboard and CPU from select retailers. You have to purchase between now and July 19th and the cashback you get depends on the board and CPU combination (see below).

You can claim an additional £25 for leaving a review at a later date.

Won't be for everyone as the B550 boards are expensive (consider x570 and b450) but hopefully useful to some. Remember if you buy a 3600 or above too you also get horizon Zero Dawn free. Hope this helps someone!

Just a heads up, there's a thread on the overclockers forums in the latests deals section about a deal similar to this with graphics cards they did in nov.

A lot of people didn't get paid any cash back and some were given game pass keys instead. Seems like the ones who did get the cash back had to put allot of effort into chasing after it.

Thanks, I didn't list all the retailers but will edit it now
Budget of £150 for the new board, what do I go for? First ever build and would definitely like some rgb (pls dont downvote me to hell)
Can you buy from separate retailers on the list? CPU from one and mobo from other?

Most of these sites have rip off pricing on CPU.

Need some more info really. What CPU did you plan to get, what are you going to use it for, are you going to overclock? The new B550 boards are only just out so haven't been reviewed yet so are hard to recommend straight up yet

I don't think so as it implied both need to be bought together. Is wait to see currys motherboard pricing as they're CPU prices seem to be fairer right now
If I was looking for a new board looking at prices of some of those boards I would just stick with an X570.

It's out of stock now but awd-it were doing the amd 3300x and a asus tuf gaming X570-Plus for I thought a reasonable £280

I agree, I've just ordered a b450 this week which is plenty for me as I don't need PCIe 4. Be interesting to see if the prices of these are forced down quickly because of the availability of x570s for so cheap now
Hi
Any advice on a board and cpu for a home server using unraid ? A little niche I know.... need at least 6 sata ports .... new to all this build your own
Currently have a Hp micro server with 4bays but running out of space and it’s a bit old in the tooth, so thought I would make my own...

Hey mate, sorry for being so vague lol. I'm going to be buying the 3600, realistically I will be overclocking and I plan on pairing with either a 5600XT or a 5700XT. Yeah it's all new right now, I've been pretty much glued to youtube vids and I'm looking forward to seeing how the new boards measure up!

The prices for the X570 boards were a lot cheaper back in February. I'm guessing the current world crisis has sadly pushed prices up.
MSI running something similar but doesn't look like Uk is included (yet).. and its steam wallet money.. not cashback as such

No worries. I've just got a 3600 and sapphire pulse 5600xt which I'm gonna run on a MSI b450 pro gaming carbon ac which cost £129. The board everyone loves is the b450 tomahawk max which is about £100 typically but Covid pricing has increased this. You can get an open box version from CCL for £78 if your quick enough when they have stock. For overclocking you want good VRMs which the MSI boards have. X570 and b550 have PCIe 4 whereas b450 only has PCIe 3 but no GPUs can use PCIe 3 maxed out yet so not necessarily currently but up to you if you want to future proof. Best overall budget b450 is the ASrock pro-4 m board. Personally I'd get an MSI tomahawk if you can (or the gaming carbon ac if you need on board wifi, also has some rgb on the board).

Hi,

It depends what you use unraid for?

Are you going to be running plex with hardware transcoding?
If yes then an Intel cpu with inbuilt quicksync may be a better strategy.

When it comes to servers more cores and threads are better for handling workloads but again, it depends on what you plan to do with the build. Plex, vm's etc..

serverbuilds.net is a good resource for older server grade equipment. It also has DIY build guides and recommendations for several builds that you can mix and match to what suits your needs.

Current B550 prices seem to be a bit of a joke

Many thanks for the reply.
It will be Plex and Logitech Media server and prob a VM or too so nothing major.
Possible some transcoding for when COVID ends and can travel again. So will check on the Intel side of things too.
Thanks for the link, will go take a look.

I bought a cheap i3 cpu build which has a 7thor 8th gen cpu in it just for a plex box and am currently about to build a new server with a ryzen cpu for my server and run a vm for my main machine.

Hopefully it saves me a lot of hassle choosing between Intel and AMD.

Best of luck. Can pm me if needed.

Thanks for this, I'm gonna add this to the deal info as it seems a really important factor to consider
Any good mini itx deals?
Serioysly, who's going to fall for this? A CPU you can already get 30 cheaper and a motherboard that ONLY adds PCI4 that noone is using to any effect, that are currently overpriced, all to get 40 cashback.. ...you'd have to be truly muggish to fall for this nonsense.

Good idea........
a little to prem for folks to jump yet on here,... let it roll.. and then lets see whos the player.
but defo an idea to keep an eye on here, cheers op.
Strange this appeared at almost full price for nearly 6mnths the day AMD announces the new XT ryzen chips....and that is only a couple of months before Ryzen 3 is released

I was tempted to get one of these awd-it.co.uk/amd…tml for my unraid server and host my main gaming machine on it too.

However I've not took the leap yet, still using an old 4th gen i5 for my server, does the job for plex and download management though.
If I buy from let's say Currys eBay, will I still be eligible for cashback?
Anyone know if this will count if buying the parts as part of a prebuilt system?
Guys I know someone else has asked on here but Im about to buy (In ten days) a Ryzen 3600x and wanted to know what a decent full sized board is thats on this cashback list please?

Probably not as they will just say it isn't listed
If you read the T&C of the £25 review cashback, it only allows upto 1000 entries. after that no other claims are accepted. So really highly unlikely you will even get the cashback.

Unless you find a very good deal on the 3600x, the general consensus is that the extra cost isn't worth the marginal cost increase over the 3600. Although with the 3600xt now announced, there might be good prices on the 3600x to clear out stock
