Saving Money on Internet Services and Watching Sport with BT Discounts
Once known as British Telecom, BT started life in 1991 when the national phone company was privatised (although its history really stretches back to the 1870s). In the 1990s and 2000s, the company expanded across the world and added now familiar services like internet connections, e-mail and digital television channels. It launched successful subsidiaries like BT Broadband, BT Mobile and BT Sport, becoming an all-round media giant with a huge range of products for UK customers to buy.
Where to Buy BT Products
The only place to purchase BT’s goods and services is via their online store at www.bt.com, where you can sign up for internet connections, buy phones and take out contracts and check out BT’s range of television channels and packages.

If you order a phone from BT Mobile, before 16:00 (Monday to Friday) or 11:00 on Saturdays, it will be delivered the next day. Deliveries will be made to the billing address, and you’ll need to be at home to sign for the package.
If you have started a BT broadband subscription, your Home Hub or Smart Hub will be delivered the day before your subscription begins, to give BT time to set up the necessary hardware and software. All deliveries arrive between 7:00 and 18:00 (on weekdays only) and all deliveries can be tracked along the way as well.
Broadband activation will take place at 10 working days after the order is placed, so your hardware should be installed 9 working days after ordering.

Delivery charges for other items (like phones, hubs, wi-fi extenders etc.) apply.
If you choose Standard Delivery, it costs £2.98 for orders below £50 and £3.49 for orders over £50 and your items will arrive in 1-3 working days.
Express deliveries arrive the next day before 12:00 noon and cost £13.50. Next working day delivery costs £10.48, and named day deliveries cost £7.50. All Saturday deliveries come with a £7.50 charge and extra costs apply if BT are sending items to Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, remote parts of Scotland or the Channel Islands.
Returning Items to BT
If you want to return an item purchased from bt.com, the process is easy to follow and there should be no problems.
Before you can physically send items back, you’ll need to get a Returns Material Authorisation Number. To acquire one, log onto your BT account and choose the “View orders and returns” link.
Select the order that needs to be returned, and look for a small blue “R” next to the order. This means that the order qualified for BT’s returns policy.
Now, choose the reason for your return from the drop down list and the BT system will determine whether your reason qualifies as valid under their terms and conditions.
If the return qualifies, BT will then provide an RMA number. This is valid for 14 days, so be sure to act within that time limit.
You’ll also receive a confirmation e-mail which contains instructions about how to make the return. Choose the right pick-up location and date, and then press “Confirm”. You’ll then see a summary containing all the relevant information and any extra delivery charges. After that, you just need to make sure that you are home when the courier comes to collect your items.
Customers need to make sure that their products are packaged in their original boxes. If that’s not possible, BT will accept products in other packaging, providing you take care to include padding to prevent damage in transit.
