As a person who's done Jiu Jitsu for a few years I think this is a great idea, a bit of disciple and confidence goes a long way. I would just say for the people who may not get on it and choose to sign their kids up to other classes its importantly to understand the difference between "self defence" and "fighting" .... classes like boxing / kick boxing/ karate are all offensive which dont really have much to do with self defence and with bad instruction can cause more harm than good. Jiu Jitsu and Judo are more "defensive" so definitely would be my recommendation (JJ even teaches you how to counter knife attacks - not sure about acid though) :)
