They are very popular in France and I used to love them when I lived there. I still find them more interesting in taste than your average Thorntons. Buying them at full price is a bit excessive unless you want to impress with them as a present. Otherwise the mixed bag in the special offers is better value especially if for own use.

Well maybe it would be worth going on a day trip to France (I'm in Kent). People seem to go for alcohol or cigarettes. Unfortunately the French never seemed to have much German wine, which is the only wine I drink and that has almost disappeared in this country for some reason. Hotel Chocolate is ok. Now they've got lots of shops, I pop in to see their reductions! I'm not a chocolate expert, but Charbonnet & Walker are pretty good and occasionally reduced in Waitrose.

Yes £12.72 for a 500g box. If visiting, I'd highly recommend picking up some Cote D'or chocs too. The 150g blocks are €1 from supermarkets, compared to about £2.50 here.

It's a good, sensibly priced range of Ganache, Praliné & Caramel chocolates if we happen to be in Belgium or the Netherlands. Stupidly overpriced in the UK though for what they are. Less stupidly priced than Hotel Chocolat (no better) though. (y)
