Did this this year in Austria, and its great value, however you need to be careful when booking. You can't book online, and some of the suppliers only have dedicated 0871 numbers to call. The price you pay will not be the same as the online price. When I queried the extra £200 with one operator, they said that it was dearer because of the free pass & lessons! Another operator insisted that only one person per booking could have the free passes etc. All lies of course. Eventually went with Inghams, who will charge for telephone bookings (about £50 each if I recall), but are upfront about it.
lolololol WELL EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are going to zermatt in Feb in school hols and staying in an apartment, 2 adults, 2 kids, equipment hire, lessons, packed lunches, etc and paying about £2500....tried here and LESSER requirements came to £7800!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! boy you lot dont know how much we english get ripped off esp when it comes to skiing.....my bro in law has lived in zurich switz for 10 years and he booked everything for us in switzerland because it is massively cheaper....
Wow. Might be something to consider when I go to University next year even though I've been skiing many years :p The resort I always go to, Avoriaz, is available although I wouldn't mind going to Canada for a skiing holiday!

Info on Chamrousse http://www.skiinfo.com/Ski-Resort-Info/Chamrousse-EFRCHAMROUSS-103-en.jhtml http://www.j2ski.com/ski_resorts/France/Chamrousse.html
Is Chamrousse any good for intermediates / advanced skiers?
Cheapest I can see is in Chamrousse France 8/1/11 from Gatwick for £399.50 if you take your own skis, it still seems to be charging for ski hire?? I have booked my own trip also to a French ski resort, including Flights, minibus hire, self catering apartment, lift pass and ski hire for about £330 per person. I too cannot wait, lets just pray for lots of snow!
When I went on this deal last year the lessons were with the same ski school as people who had paid for them as park of any other ski package. On the first day the instructors ask you how much skiing you have done and split you into the appropriate groups and off you go. They dont care if you have been skiing before and that isnt reported back to the operator as you are just down on their lists as having booked lessons - not as part of a freshers package or anything. The lessons are each morning then after lunch you are free to do what you like/put into practice what you covered in the morning. Even if you have been skiing before then its well worth going along for the lessons as the instructors are always well trained/very friendly and you get a lot more out of it than just going down runs yourself. The drop out rate on the group I was with was low as well.
Did anyone go on the January booking of this? What were the lessons like? Did everyone turn up (i.e. was everyone a beginner?)
I had a look through their brochure first to narrow down the choice of locations but the only way to check for sure is on the phone. To cut the time down it helps if you can say you want to stay at this hotel/whatever in this resort, etc otherwise they have to do a system wide search which takes a while like you say. If you look on saynoto870.com I believe there is a non premium rate number you can call as well.
Where about's did you find availability? I've been on the phone today but at 10p/min to Thomas Cook and First Choice, they seem to keep me on hold whilst the check resort by resort one bring back one result per ten minutes, I eventually gave up. Is there no way to check availability beyond the phone?

Tioanne, Check out ]http://www.onlinetravelsearch.co.uk I think you can find some good deals to other destinations on that site.
There were quite a few available yesterday, but it looks as if they have all been sold now. It is possible that there are still some other good offers available, but unfortunately I don't have the time to do an extensive search.... shame!
Doesn't seem to work from Bristol :-( . Anyway there aren't any scheduled flights there till Ryanair start in December - know that as I'm going in October and having to fly from Gatwick
There are 7 nights holidays available on the 8th, but the price isn't as good pro rata as the three night. I guess they are simply trying to fill a short gap as soon as the kids go back to school, hence the bargain price.
