It's about £15 each way for ski carriage, so it's a good saving.
and about £25 for a weeks ski hire in the resort I went to this year - unless you are a really good skier it is probably better saving the hassle of lugging your skis and just hiring when youget there - most of the shops had the latest skis

Whereabouts was this? I find that intermediate level ski and boot hire usually costs around £70 for the week. In Switzerland this year, my friend hired some K2 Apaches (high-end skis), which were £100 on their own.
Even if you just have your own boots (MUCH better than any rental pair), this will be of use. Good find, voted hot!
