Extra 15% of breakdown cover with Startrescue.co.uk

I'm posting this because I feel that the company could have at least reduced my breakdown policy as I informed them of the loophole in their customer journey.

It's pretty simple: make a quote and use '15APP' in the discount code field when you come to pay.

Note: I discovered this *after* getting a quote, paying for the cover and then being presented with a 15% code when I opened their app for the first time.

I'd downloaded the app, because it seemed the sensible way to request a recovery while on the road. I hadn't put in my policy number so it assumed I was a prospective customer and offered me a discount code. I was so annoyed, I left a feedback form and they've just called but, apparently, they think it's a fine thing to do and won't reduce my breakdown over.

The idea is that the code is meant to be used for another car or product they offer through their website (household cover etc). The trouble is I went back into the website and did a new quote with the same details and as the car policy database isn't linked to the quotation engine it doesn't stop you from applying the discount code.

You can also remove your policy number from the app and go back into the app to find the discount code being offered again!

if you can be bothered all existing Startrescue.co.uk cover holders could cancel and renew their cover and get 15% as well.

Anyway, if you want to breakdown cover with:
Roadside Assistance
Local Recovery up to 10 miles
Nationwide Recovery
Home Assist
Free Legal Expenses Policy
Accident Recovery
Alternative Travel
Emergency Overnight Accommodation
Key Assist
Message Assist

All the works, basically. You can get for £40.37 annually (limited to 6 breakdowns, I think) instead of £47.49. In my limited knowledge of breakdown cover, I think that's quite a stellar deal.

Anyone used them before?..
My RAC subscription is up and I've had awful service from them.
Properly atrocious service.
Need a good alternative.

I’ve used them for the past 3 or 4 years. Done a couple of callouts and they came out faster than the RAC or AA had done in the preceding years.

I called the rac at 4.30pm and.they came at 11.45pm.

I was on the side of the motorway all that time, got home at 2am, complete joke.

Used them for about 6 years, called them out 3 times, they have always come quickly. In fact they came so quickly the garage I wanted to be towed to wasn't open, the guy said I can tow you, then you wait, or just call again in 30 mins(which I did and they came out again). I pay 27 pounds per year per car for 3 star cover.
Thanks for posting i'm going to have a good look into this
Why does mine come up as £55? Another stupid breakdown website that advertised one price and then ups it as soon as you click on the breakdown cover page.
Might depend on the car, I guess.

It is worth putting in a complaint. We had a very similar situation. Put in a complaint to Esure (as it was an accidental). Got £150 back from them and £50 from RAC
Got cover this time last year for £30.13 which was a bargain, renewal quote is 49.50 for this year so I've taken a policy out elsewhere. I only had to call them out once and response was decent, their breakdown app is very good too. I found the price of cover would depend on your car my older golf was cheaper to cover than my partners newer audi a3

I have been with them for 4 years, had one call out to a flat battery with great and quick service. I cant fault them so wouldnt go anywhere else. I use to pay £70+ with RAC and no call-outs.
