Best Gardening Direct deals from our community

I agree with you completely, and as I say this has been flagged and will be monitored. If there are customer service issues then maybe Gardening Direct can set up a CS account on hotukdeals to try to resolve delivery/other problems. We would rather the problems be solved than banning a seller outright, and there are many sellers allowed on this site that have had problems over lockdown with couriers, stock levels, and simply being too busy.
Cheers Pete. I'm not saying Trust Pilot is 100% reliable and indeed any company that has only positive reviews should be viewed with suspicion. But a huge number of bad reviews backed up by a lot of negative HUKD comments then not really a company HUKD should be associating with. After all a good deal is only a good deal if it gets delivered... Perhaps new HUKD functionality for the future, a HUKD rating for companies who appear as a deal on the site based on feedback/comments from users of the site.
Have you seen John Lewis' Trust Pilot? The Gardening Direct site has been allowed so far, but is being monitored.
It's all about how much wonga is in the brown envelope!
A company with such a large amount of bad reviews and yet HUKD allows deals from this company to be posted. I'm very cautious now about deals on this site as time and time again I've seen deals allowed from companies that are dodgy at best and borderline criminal at worst.

Non existent customer service - keep your money and shop elsewhere thats my advice.

https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/popular/fuchsia/Hardy that's why I asked because I've bought so many of these plug types thinking they were a good deal but forgot to check if hardy or not and it's more faff to have to remember to over winter tender ones
Lovely , I say it’s a good deal but your plant knowledge / expertise is questionable.
Im so glad some people care. I throw these over the back lawn to excuse me from mowing it for a few months (y)
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Snore
You state that all fusvhiss are perennial , correct. If a plant is sold as hardy then I would expect it to survive a normal UK winter. Anyway this is detracting from your post which is a good deal. Most hardy fuchsias sit under the H4 rating of hardiness which should be able to survive a winter outside in most of the uk. Wendy’s Beauty or Ben Jammin are beautiful examples.

Thanks OP but 20 seeds are 99p I'll go for those and sow Dec to March or July to Sept they are so easy to grow and for the £13 price you'd have hundreds!
That might be Winter Pansies?
I always thought it was more winter to spring type flowers

Works fine for me.
Every time I click through to this companies website I get an error message, even when I subscribed to their e-mails and tried to click through. Is it just me?!

"24 large plants are down from £16.49 to £11.54, plus postage of £4.95 - brings it to £16.49..." This made me LOL! (lol)

One box of 24 for me also so far , I've emailed them but no response as yet
only had one box of 24 so far
Yes
Are those the begonias?
Yes only one box.

Tesco used to own Dobbies. I don't know where they get the stock from now. Anyone know?
yep supermarkets do some good plants if you can get them early, hope you manage to grab some (y)
Thanks will go to tesco for a look ........ done aldi fuscia last year but havent seen any there yet
i would say medium plugs, its way to early to plant anyway due to the amount of frosts atm. pot on in a greenhouse and every year they have grown large
Plants or corms ?? OP is large plants

My plants are all white single flower - anyone else have the same? Surely wrong plants sent?...
Mine just arrived today and look good - been having little luck getting online gardening retailers to ship anything to Northern Ireland lately so this was great, no problems or additional fees. Happy days!
I too recd 48 excellent looking plugs :-)
I received 48 today.
mine are here too, I found that when you put 2 in your basket the price didn't go up. So I ordered 48 for £17 using the GDTU10 code Sounds like they didn't auto add the bogof but will sort you out if you contact them I'm no gardener but was expecting something bigger as a "large" plant Getting some compost from wickes and putting them out tomorrow

FAQs About the Gardening Direct Service
If you place an order worth £40 or more you won’t have to pay any delivery charges. For orders of under this amount, you will be charged £3.95.
Gardening Direct is a trading name used by the company’s owners, Jersey Choice Ltd. They are a retailer which specialise in selling gardening products and they also own Jersey Plants Direct.
The head office is located in St Helier, but the company grows its plants in the north-west of Jersey, in a parish called St Ouen. They have seven acres of greenhouses and these are equipped with the latest technology so seedlings can be nurtured all year round.
A courier is used to dispatch plants, seedlings and bulbs. They are sent using a first-class postal service and will have growing instructions in the box. You can order products at any time of the year, but seasonal plants will be delivered when they are ready for planting. Gardening Direct reviews every plant before it is sent, so your order may be delayed if they are not happy with the quality. Plants are sent using a range of specially made boxes and soft packaging solutions, these include a tab which holds each plant in place whatever way up the box is placed. Therefore, even delicate bulbs, rooted plants and plugs have every chance of making the journey safely and arriving in a healthy condition.
The fastest way to get in touch with a member of the Gardening Direct team is by giving them a ring on 01534 876 494. The office hours are 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.
What Delivery Options Are There at Gardening Direct?
Gardening Direct only despatch on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays to ensure that plants are not delayed in transit. If you order a number of items, they may be sent at different times as the plants become ready. The delivery options are:
- Standard Delivery
Deliveries over £40 are free, otherwise they are charged at £3.95. You will be provided with a despatch period within which the plants will be delivered.
- Specific Date Deliveries
This is free on orders of £40 or £3.95 otherwise, where available. You can request a gift order arrives on a specific day. For general orders, a Gardening Direct delivery can only be delayed, not sent in advance, and only so long as the requested date falls within the designated despatch period for the plants you ordered.
- Fresh Cut Flower Deliveries
Free on orders over £40 or £3.95 otherwise. Place an order by 8am from Monday to Friday for delivery within 3 days to any address in the UK.
Despatch Dates and Quality Screening at Gardening Direct
Gardening Direct grow their own plants and these are only sent out to customers when they are of sufficient size. Plant quality is also taken into consideration, so some items may be delayed by a few weeks. Even so, they should still arrive within the despatch date shown on the order. They delay deliveries so you receive plants that are ready to set out in the garden at that particular time of year. Therefore, when you place a large order for multiple plants you may receive the items over the course of a year – unless they are all ready for planting at the same time. Gardening Direct run out of best sellers from time to time. People who place their orders well in advance will be prioritised in these circumstances, as they operate a ‘first come, first served’ policy. This only applies to the garden plants they grow and will not affect other types of order, such as accessories and cut flowers.

A Quick History of Gardening Direct
Launched in 1996, Gardening Direct keep prices low by growing their own products and then selling direct. The business was sold by Flying Brands to the current owner Jersey Direct in 2012 for £2.8 million. Since then, they have developed a range of packaging which works well with live plants such as plugs, bulbs and bare-root plants, so these can be transported to customer’s homes unharmed.
The Gardening Direct Collection
You can view the entire range of Gardening Direct plants and accessories by ordering one of the yearly free brochures, or you can look through the collection online. The products are divided into sections, making it easier to locate what you need.
- Bedding Plants
In this section, you can shop for smaller plants which are great for filling empty spaces, borders and baskets, these include stock, primrose and viola. There are flowers which are known for their special scent, those which trail from the pot and others that are more suited to smaller patio planting. You can look for the bedding plants you need based on the exact variety, or see those which are most popular with the customers at Gardening Direct. They also have a Shop by Size area for choosing plants based on how large they will grow, from ‘small’ to ‘mega’. Alternatively, shop for the upcoming seasons or browse in the current season for plants that are despatching now.
- Outdoor Plants
In the Outdoor Plants area of the website you can shop for plants that are suitable for keeping in the garden. If you know what type of plant you’d like to buy click on the Shop by Category area where they stock a huge range of bulbs, perennials and bedding plants. You can also browse this part of the website if you want to buy plants which have been pre-planted in pots or baskets or vegetable varieties to grow at home. In the ‘Type’ area you can select pollinators, climbers and scented flowers to suit the space you have. For fresh ideas, go to the Popular Varieties area where you can see what other gardeners are buying.
- Indoor Plants
The Indoor Plants section contains a wide range of plants for the home, these are pre-potted in a basic planter. If you know what type of indoor plant you are looking for, just narrow down the search by selecting a variety. Alternatively, you can choose to scroll through everything they have on offer. The plants are described as being good for beginners, bathrooms or low-light areas, so you can find one that’s ideal for your needs. To see the latest plants and fresher varieties, visit the New Varieties area where they stock recently cultivated types of fern, orchid and palm. In the Popular section take a look through a range of indoor plants that are the company's current bestsellers.
- Gifts
In the gifts area you can browse the entire collection, or go for a category section or the bestsellers list. There are three different categories; houseplants, bouquets and flower baskets. The bouquets and baskets are made up of cut flowers, they include roses, lilies, carnations and freesias in a huge range of colours. The house plants are pre-potted and you can choose between orchids, roses, gardenias and more. If you would prefer to see what the most popular choices are, head to the Best Sellers area where you can see the current favourites in flowers, bouquets and potted plant gifts. You can sort any list by price, name of the product, or the bestsellers in that range.
- Accessories
In this part of the website you’ll be able to shop for plant essentials and other gardening items. Gardening Direct make lots of their own fertiliser and compost, so you can shop for seedling compost and compact brick coir compost, along with fertilisers for a range of different plants. The feed section has branded plant food designed for specific uses such as tomatoes, fruits, lawns and houseplants. If you need a place to house your plants, there is a wide range of hanging baskets and pots of all sizes, some of which are designed for outside and some for inside. To start a project at home, shop for Plant Kits which can include containers, compost and plants or seeds.

I bought a few Acers last year with no problems. In fact they sent a much more expensive tree and let me keep it and sent the one I ordered as well.
I sincerely hope you will edit your post. This post is for a gardeningdirect offer, NOT gardeningexpress that your link is for. They are two completely different companies as I have already pointed out. Unlike gardeningexpress, this company gets 4.2 and a 'great' trustpilot rating - not perfect but not a patch on gardeningexpress who you wrongly link to. This is the correct trustpilot review link trustpilot.com/review/gardeningdirect.co.uk *In any case, I would always recommend activating free returns on paypal and paying with paypal. Paypal
Extremely dodgy company with fraudulent practices, have a look at their trustpilot reviews, ignore the invited ones! https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.gardeningexpress.co.uk Any issues with the plants they send, you will have to return them at your own cost.
I've ordered bare root trees early May before and they have never been in leaf. I agree they are fast approaching the time when the company will not be able to suppress their natural growth, but late spring is the time when you can get a bargain.
Thank you very much Saji (y)
