BC = British Cycling membership card which gives you 10% of cycling purchases in Halfords/Cycle Republic.

You have to pay for membership to get the card.

Info here: britishcycling.org.uk
What is a BC card please?
Thanks for posting
AA members also get 10% off. To be a pedant 15% off, and then 10% off that isn't 25% off.

Can't see this on the Halfords or AA website, please could you post a link?

If I ordered a bike using this discount code with click and collect can I apply the AA discount at the till when I go to pay? Many thanks

It's in the app, downloads a PDF with a barcode they scan.

Go through quidco, get reduced price, pay on collection and present voucher. Bingo! Even better if you can get gift card vouchers cheap somewhere as well....

Great thanks!
So without using the BC card you should get the bike after cashback for around £280 , is that correct ?

If you bank with HSBC you should be able to get it for free.
How do I actually add my BC discount to the order? Is there a voucher code or do I just explain it to them in the store and have them adjust the price?

Do click and collect and pay when you get there.
Some bikes are already discounted so you take off 15% from that and then 10% instore when you pay plus any quidco/topcashback going that is some serious good deals.

Like this e-mountain bike;

halfords.com/cyc…ame

or this very nice folding e-bike;

halfords.com/cyc…ike

Note the folding e-bike has a rider weight limit of 85kg not the normal 120kg of most Halfords bikes. Maybe they compromised frame strength by storing the battery within the frame? The crosscity doesn't say its reduced but not long ago they were selling them at £850 although admittedly last year they were £650. It's not a entry level folding e-bike though there are some good quality components on it that makes it comparable to many folding e-bikes that other brands charge over £1000 for.

I wouldn’t touch a rear mounted hub drive bike there way outclassed by mid drive bikes but they are £2000+ the Carrera is basic and over priced at £850 I guess the 15% off is good if able to combine the extra 10% off but I’m sure the 15% excludes Ebikes as per terms and conditions so useless

Indeed, if you could get the 15% off and then 10% when picking up it would cost £650 more in line with what this bike should cost as the components are garbage you’re paying for the battery and motor which are the more expensive parts even tho they aren’t amazing.

Fair enough didn't see that about the 15% excluding e-bikes I just saw the all bikes bit. Hub drives are definitely outclassed by most mid-drives but perfectly fine for a bike like that. It won't chew through chains and would normally offer superior reliability and easier servicing. Mid-drives are the higher performance, higher cost, higher cost maintenance option and end of life when the mid-drive motor is not worth repairing anymore the bike is pretty much scrap value as you can't convert it back to a normal bike or economically replace parts. Many people are more than happy with hub motors even on mountain bikes for light off-road use. I don't expect to see mid-mount e-mountain bikes at the same price level and even if there was it would probably have inferior components like XCT forks or worse and lower components elsewhere that would make it unusable as a real off-road bike anyway.

I, agree i have the voodoo bizango E with Bosch cx performance motor and it eats the hills for fun and I’m heavy at 109kg.. I wouldn’t pay £2250 that it’s currently retailing for as it’s too expensive but luckily my brother works at Halfords 25% off the bike which was way more reasonable. As for the motor etc indeed I agree and that’s why I have bike insurance on this bike as when it does die they will replace it or repair which suits me fine

What exactly is garbage about the spec you get many worse components fitted to far more expensive e-bikes from the big brands. Inferior XCT forks are fitted and they often have shorter warranties and far lower rider weight limits plus many mid-mount motors have reliability issues and need more frequent maintenance. Can you actually link to a £650 e-bike that has the same or better components?

That’s why i said £650 is about right and overall good value. £950 at normal price is stupid for what you’re getting

When you get to the till you will automatically get the 15% Halfords discount. To get the B.C. discount you have to show them your current membership card and also a valid discount code - they now change it every month - which you can download onto your mobile phone or print it off. To get the discount code log into your B.C. account, click on 'membership', click on 'member benefits', scroll down to the Halfords link and click on it then click on the discount voucher tab - download it to your phone and away you go!

Membership to British Cycling is £34 a year for me (there are other options) but with it you can get the 10% discount on anything in store (including car parts) so you can get the membership cost back in no time.

Thank you. I signed up about a week ago via the HSBC deal, I have found the discount code download, but I don't have a physical card :/
Interested in the Boardman Carbon, but apart from the frame the spec isn’t that great. An option with better wheels,105 and disk brakes would be great.
Cheapest BC membership is £24 so if your spending at least £350 on a bike you are still saving ocerall
Does this work with the cycle to work scheme?

The aluminium version is pretty much the same weight but with 105 and Mavic wheels, worth a look.

Also has better tyres, brakes and saddle.

Yes I noticed that, can’t see why they haven’t done the same spec with the carbon framed one? Maybe trying to keep the price point to £1k

What bike insurance do you have that covers repair on the motor? I thought that was uninsurable outside of warranty?
I can confirm this works. Just came back from Halfords on my new bike. 15% code + 10% BC. The code qualifies as a "National Offer" so it does accumulate with the BC card. Normally you should do C&R but if you go in shop and they have it in stock, Go online and add in the basket with the code. They will price match it and then show your BC card with the voucher.

Not expired I just tried it now.

Seems expired to me? Last week bikes & accessories were dropping 15% when you put them into the basket without any code but I don't see that now?

Promotion "BIKE15" is temporarily not available at this time.

Maybe was still working that time. Didn't seem to work here. I got my bike 25% off but their service is dreadful and mechanics are a joke. I might have to go to a proper mechanic for a safety check. Rear wheel not true, bottom crank not tightened properly, shifting is not very smooth.. cancer!
BIKE15 worked for me last night. But decided to sleep on it, now it won't work. Im gutted. Anyone have any other discount codes that work please? Wish I'd just ordered it! TA
