Been looking for an electric car deal, this seems like a good deal on a 4 year contract with a smallish deposit. Hope it helps someone. Mad sheep leasing.

https://quote.scottishpower.co.uk/electric-vehicles/charger £249 if you live in Scotland 🏴??????

Ouzoherb

There is no way electricity will stay this cheap once more people have these, expect to pay at least the same as petrol in the end. The government is not going to give up fuel duty revenues. This will take 10 years I estimate so enjoy at the moment.

Apart from the slightly boring interior- Brilliant to drive, so much fun, very comfortable and practical as an SUV should be. Bought as present for missus though i made her test drive a SEAT ateca so she was very pleasantly surprised ( and happy!)

What's the point of a fiesta, just get a suzuki.

If you sell a car with damage you lose value too, so there's no difference really. It doesn't cost that much to repair damage here and there.

The government would need to bring in some form of road charging or monthly mileage bill for EVs, I cant see how they would be able increase electricity costs.

SFconvert

That's the trouble with those tariffs. I've managed to get a Symbio tariff which is less than 11p per kWh all the time. So still works out cheaper and can charge whenever I like.

Many thanks for that information, very helpful!!

Nate187

Is the new Captur available yet? It looks much better inside and out, the mrs is wanting one.

MOJOoo7

You can just replace with a used equivalent premium tyres. No need to buy new. This is useful info for anyone took out a lease of 2-3 years. I did a 3 years lease once and done 30k miles, did not have to replace one tyre as rotated wheels front to back. Front had about 4mm left and back was a bit more when rotation was done.

Vomit

My local audi will price match on tyres, may be worth asking if yours do too.

Mine's fine. You know, luck and maintenance.

You can keep the depreciation its on me. I know how much a new DSG box costs and I'll be honest I have very little mechanical sympathy from minute 1 of ownership ;)

Not sure about repairs. Seen rather a large quantity of new Mercs on the side of the motorway in the last few weeks.

Dunno, all I know is that I get twice the mpg on country roads to town ones so that's a big difference. Most modern cars would be similar I think with the small engine/turbo configurations.

Uns

To be honest it doesn't make as much difference as you think - even in an unrealistic scenario where you take the upper bound of the gov.uk fuel efficiency figures (12p per mile) and only get one-third of the number of miles per kWh (or triple the cost of electricity), you still end up in roughly the same ball park: 12p - 3.75p = 8.25p per mile saving. (£660 saving per 8,000 miles)

jazzuk777

I'd imagine it's a lot different compared to your predominant driving type - much bigger savings if mostly urban, a lot less if mostly motorway/extra-urban.

Uns

I ran the numbers for a previous e-golf thread, so probably worth copying here in case anyone is interested (the link formatting didn't copy so let me know if you want any of the source links): The e-golf gets approximately 4 miles per kWh. Each kWh costs 5p if charged off-peak (4 hours each night) on an Octopus EV tariff. So the e-golf would cost approximately 1.25p per mile to run. The average petrol/diesel car costs approximately 12p-15p per mile in fuel according to gov.uk figures. So you save approximately 12p per mile, or to put it another way: you save approximately £1000 per 8,000 miles that you drive when compared with an average petrol/diesel engine car.

wonkothesane

You might've been thinking of the electric-only range for the Golf GTE hybrid.

The mk3 TT is a very nice car though... I'm sure that's why you bought one! We had an A3 with one of the shared 8J engines and the quattro drivetrain five or six years ago. Great drive. Sorry your Audi's giving you grief. Our neighbours back in the UK have had a couple of Kias (and still have at least one) and love them. The build quality and standard equipment are excellent, and afaik haven't had a single issue apart from rodents eating the electrics once which isn't really something the manufacturer can influence :D

lumsdot

my neighbours have this, so can the Op recommend anything bigger in this price point?

alcot33uk

Pay a bit more and spend less time in the garage? OK our £40K Audi TT has been nothing but in the garage. 6 weeks on one occasion. Expensive does not equal quality. Kia have their brand right IMHO as the fit and finish is excellent and they have the right business model. We will never buy another Audi again.

zomg

Friends of mine experienced the same kind of thing (with Fiat, Peugeot / Citroen, GM (Opel/Vauxhall). They eventually came round to the idea that a car that is cheap to repair is ultimately not as cheap as a car that is rarely repaired. I commend Kia, Fiat Chrysler and others for the approach they're taking but in my personal experience (YMMV) I'd rather pay more for something that spends less time in the shop. ....and a friend of mine drives a wrapped neon green lifted Jeep Wrangler. And it's awesome 8) edit: lifted, not raised

diktiomenos

I find you attitude quite pedestrian. Walking, in any shape or form, is for plebs.

That's unfortunate, I reached over 350,000 miles in an Octavia before getting the Superb. Just changed oil every 6000 miles and replaced a water pump once and I think once I broke a coil spring.
