Thanks Chaos

Thanks a lot Chaos_Theory,
That codes a great help, voted Hot!

The codes HOT, but ChoicesUK are NOT.

They frequantly offer items at cheap prices and then when order is going through, they state that the item is not in stock or there has been a technical error on the website.

One example of this is the CSI Miami boxset fiasco, which is on these forums.

Be Aware, very aware.

They've been great to me recently, received most games before release day and at great prices.

Yep - ordered the Borg box set the other week for £8 !!!

I got Alias box set from them when it was mispriced by 20 quid. No complaints here!

After the CSI cancellations I'm going to boycott this company for a year or more.

Technical errors are part and parcel of online shopping. I'm not quite sure why people are getting so angry about them, particularly in the CSI case where it was quite obviously an error from the get go. At least they released a discount code as part compensation - Amazon did nothing after the recent Stargate misprice...

Would be nice if you could sneak a PS3 on that deal :-D

They've been great for me. Most items delivered within two days of ordering, and cheaper prices for wii games than anywhere else.

It wasn't a technical error.. clearly a human error.
It was listed under BOGOF (and indeed had BOGOF in the link).
Obviously they didnt intend to sell two for £12.95 but hardly a catastrophic error on their part. They would have done better to honour the orders and keep their good reputation than lie to customers and lose alot of business.
The 10% was an insult.. at the time they had a 10% code on a banner on every single page of their website; mad2007. So no compensation at all.. as demonstrated by this thread.
Amazon on the other hand do compensate if you complain the right way;
Write to Linda Riordan, the head of their Executive Customer Relations Group.. Very fast responses and often a voucher to the value of the product. resolution-uk@amazon.co.uk or better yet freephone 0800 279 6620 press 4 and ask for transfer to extension 34581. Almost instant compensation and apology everytime.

How can you possibly know it was human error?
Given the volume of CSI sales generated by this forum alone, it's hardly surprising they couldn't honour the orders at that price. I don't see where exactly any lying was involved.

They did LIE to me.

Firstly, they send me an email stating there was a technical error on the website, then secondly, the very next day, they send me an email stating they were out of stock at the BOGOF price, but if I wanted to purchase them, They had stock at the full price.

In my book, that contitutes lying, What do the rest of you think ?

Computers do not accidently send out emails saying BOGOF boxsets then 18 hours later saying reduced price CSI box sets (which only just takes them under tesco's in store price I might add!). Computers do not list items under BOGOF unless someone tells it to.. Clearly a human mistake that the offers overlapped, not a technical thing.
]nileshpateluk is right about them lying.. two emails contradicting each other is by definition lying.
Given CSI trade prices are just shy of £5 for bulk orders they wouldnt have lost much at all if anything. Even with 10000+ orders.. Far more damaging to business to have such bad publicity.

Received 3 wii games today ordered on Sunday.

Never had a complaint with them personally:thumbsup:

Rather shop here than shop2 or powerplay etc

You're assuming the software controlling their website is infallible. It's perfectly possible that items were delisted from being BOGOF, but the software, for whatever reason, failed to register this. Secondly, since it's pretty obvious the offers were accidentally overlapping, anyone placing an order should be expect a high chance of cancellation - I certainly did.

It's not 'by definition' lying at all. If one email was sent out erroneously, then it's a mistake, not a lie.

Huh. I had no idea bulk orders could be *that* cheap. As you say, it might have been in their best interests to honour the orders then.

Thanks for this Chaos_Theory Very useful ;-)

Does anyone know wether you can apply this ontop of the other code?

Nope you can't. Only one active code allowed. Still get quidco on it though

Stacking codes isn't advised hatembet and I don't think they would work anyway

I have been using choicesuk for a few years and never had cause to complain until recently. I purchased 15 dvd's that were in their sale at £3.99 each and used the 10% discount code to get them for £3.49 each.

When i received the dvd's only 5 were sealed and the rest were unsealed some of which the discs were scratched and others the cases were broken. I sent them back for replacement and about a week later i was sent the same goods back! I will not be using them for any future purchases.

I have sent them back now for a refund and have emailed their complaints department. I will let you know the outcome.

hmm...that is pretty bad service

After numerous phone calls to ChoicesUK, the link to the CSI boxsets banner on the main page still has "BOGOFCRIME" in the link :

choicesuk.com/spe…IME

Very amatuer company if they can't even get HTML links correct......

Hi matt10,

I'm sorry to hear of this issue. When titles are put on promotion we order stock in advance of the start date from the distributors. I can confirm that all stock received is brand new and received directly from the studio's distributors themselves (we do not buy grey imports etc) and often promotional titles are received in our warehouse without cellophane seals.

When your return is received by our returns dept it is confirmed on the system against your RAN, booked in as damaged/faulty into the return racks where they are then returned to the distributor as appropriate and depending on contractual terms. New orders raised against those items in question which are then picked from the warehouse shelves by warehouse staff (seperate from the Returns team) you should therefore never be sent same items back.

I am currently on holiday returning next week but will certainly raise your case with out customer service manager.

Unfortuantely I am not aware of the circumstances surrounding the CSI offer and therefore cannot currently comment.

Nice one. Just got Banana Blitx for my WII for £26.99.

Thanks.

voted and repped

ordered a couple hd dvd's with quidco and the 10% off it works out a decent price for the bourne supremacy hd-dvd £11.50 plus the money off from quidco.

Used this code today, thanks Heat and Rep added!

When you buy games from Choices UK do they come sealed?

Thinking about ordering some games & just wanted to check but I did.
